one day at a time - if you look too hard at the big picture you will go bonkers! do some reading on here, hit the cooking forum (they have some handy lunch-to-go ideas on there just search it) and take care of you. it's a big change, treat it as such you'll be ok - you're in a good place to get advice, hugs, and just vent. this is the place where baby...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Non Food Products
notme replied to eblue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i buy a giant bar of 'kiss my face' soap and chop it into little bars that i keep in my travel case, and smaller ones to keep in my purse in a baggie. if they're really little, i just throw it away on my way out of the restroom. -
ARCHIVED Exhaustion Worse After gluten-free

yeah, it was kind of a shocker to me too! i would expect you will go through grieving, too - that was a surprise, too. it *is* a big life change (the bell you can't un-ring, so to speak.... ) so, it's normal to mourn your 'old' lifestyle/to miss your comfort foods/to get used to the *never* word.... but, as you go along, and merge your 'old' life with... -
ARCHIVED Exhaustion Worse After gluten-free
notme replied to moosemalibu's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
yes, ma'am, i sure did - you sound like you are going through withdrawal. the good news is: you must be doing a good job of keeping yourself gluten-free, so your body is 'missing' it. for me, it felt like the flu. it knocked me on my butt (right into the bed lolz) for a couple of weeks but then it went away. i started feeling a little better each day... -

rosemary is gluten-free. i have eaten jennie-o products (usually ground turkey) with no adverse effects. i'm arlene and i'm a celiac. no problem with ground turkey or rosemary sorry it's off limits for you i guess you must have an allergy to rosemary i am assuming. but rosemary is an herb and is gluten-free so safe to eat for celiac.com turkey is... -

ARCHIVED Adult Diagnosis: How Long Til You're More Or Less Used To This?
notme replied to mmoncrief's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
lolz - shadow! i just came back to add: i had to go trash-diving last week over something or other i couldn't remember if i checked the label (it was ok! lolz) my daughter thinks it's hilarious, because i would NEVER get anything out of the trash. if it went in, it was like the black hole of goodbyeness. now, i am going in elbow-deep from time... -

ARCHIVED Needing Some Encouragement...anxiety Kicking In
notme replied to mommyof4's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i thank God every day i am in a position that i don't have to work. i am still not up to my goal weight and the first thing that takes a backseat, when i am working, is eating. and i am a freight broker, so it's mega-stressful and super busy. but, our kids are grown and our bills are not as steep as they used to be raising 4 kids, so, it's manageable... -

barty, when i get 'soyed' i get an extra pain in the neck (my husband shows up lolz just kidding!) so, yeah, maybe inflammation from allergy/intolerance? i imagine everything swells up and pinches nerves (or that's what it feels like)- 23 replies

ARCHIVED Neurologist Vs Gastroenterologist

absolutely celiac & diabetes walk hand-in-hand. my son has type 1 diabetes and i have celiac. so far, i haven't developed the 'betes' yet (and i am expecting it... ....) but i am almost certain he would test positive for celiac (he denies it) . i'm sure all the bloodwork the op has had done will probably include a glucose test - surely someone would...- 23 replies

ARCHIVED Neurologist Vs Gastroenterologist
notme replied to ms-issippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
lolz - right, i was like: what?! also, i meant to add: nerve damage is the last to heal. if you have gone a long time with untreated celiac, chances are your body has alot of damage that needs to heal and the more your gut heals, the more vitamins and minerals you will absorb to 'correct' different damage. i was/am still amazed at how far i have...- 23 replies

ARCHIVED Horrible Relapse After More Than 3 Years
notme replied to blancasagro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
if you were eating out alot, you were probably getting cross contaminated on a regular basis. so, maybe you need to go back to eating plainly, cooking/preparing your own meals, no eating at restaurants. be strict with your diet. good that you're getting an endoscopy in case there's something else going on. i hope you feel better.- 5 replies

ARCHIVED Pillsbury gluten-free Pizza Dough
notme replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
after trying soooooooooo many different recipes (and now i want to try the namaste, too, but it is not easily found in my hick town lolz) this was at least easy and co-operative dough. i have different things in mind for it next time i buy it. the crust isn't crumbly or gritty or rubbery and you can't beat the 'plop it out of the container, spread on pan... -
we used to have 'road trips' - to OLD junkyards/fields overgrown with weeds in the middle of nowhere in search of cool (rusty old what the heck is this?) machinery. that's how i found out 'buffalo-springfield' wasn't just the name of a band (found a steam roller for my friend that was a buffalo-springfield lolz - what mechanical genius' to think of all that...

ARCHIVED Neurologist Vs Gastroenterologist
notme replied to ms-issippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
i think you're right, but i am not a doctor or a scientist. if your GI doesn't understand that celiac is systemic/affects your whole body, every system, maybe you need a new doctor. in the 3 years i have been gluten free, i have had a myriad of seemingly unrelated problems resolve. i had a headache that i didn't even know i had until it went away one day...- 23 replies

ARCHIVED I'm So Confused. :(
notme replied to StephieStep's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
a person's response to the gluten-free diet is one of the criteria a doctor should use as a diagnostic tool. so many doctors tell their patients to 'try' gluten free and then when it works, tell them to go back on gluten so they can have an accurate test. <seems like calculated torture lolz) not me - i began to gain weight immediately so my blood test... -
that's AWESOME!!! thanx, barty
