ARCHIVED Is There Such Thing As A False/weak Positive?
notme replied to Abthiede's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
false positives are not common, even if they're weak. there is something called 'silent celiac' which does damage to your intestines with little or no symptoms. untreated celiac will cause a myriad of other problems over time. good luck with whatever you decide to do -
ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Get Gluten From The Dishwasher?
notme replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
either way should be fine as long as they're clean, right? it takes me for ever to do the dishes - they are probably already sufficiently clean when i put them into the dishwasher lolz - my husband does the dishes, doesn't even *rinse* everything! and they turn out just fine. my secret? i don't watch him do it and when he loads the dishwasher, my... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Time And I Am Trying To Calm My Nerves!
notme replied to ryo's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
relax, mama it's not their first time - it's just *your* first time. my grandson had surgery at 10 months (yes, he woke up upset but he was a baby baby) and my daughter had surgery when she broke her arm in 3 places. she was 7 and she was fine. a little dopey, but ok. hope everything goes well! -
ARCHIVED Still Healing Vs. Being Glutened
notme replied to pochtas2003's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED Dairy Allergy And Now Calcium Supplements
notme replied to seraphim's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
you probably need a good in-patient evaluation. has anyone else suggested this to you? in a controlled environment, where you won't come into contact with all these contaminants. -

ARCHIVED Dairy Allergy And Now Calcium Supplements
notme replied to seraphim's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
could you not ask the people on the milk allergy website? maybe they would have a better insight - i, personally, do not have a milk allergy, so i have zero knowledge about what products are safe for your milk allergy. apparently, the 600-800 people who frequent this site at all times don't know either, or you would have an overabundance of answers. you... -
i went and got some D3 today and am going to try them - couldn't find the drops and these are also in soybean oil. so, i might switch back to the D2 mega-dose once per week just not to feel crappy from the soy EVERY day we shall see....

ARCHIVED Blood Tests Came Back Negative
notme replied to Soccer-Mom2405's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
mostly everybody on here was 'diagnosed' with ibs - which stands for 'irritable bowel syndrome' which means something is irritating your bowel but they have no idea what it is. false negatives on the blood test are pretty common. guaging your response to gluten-free diet is one of the tools doctors use to diagnose celiac/ncgi <but if you are either... -

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Get Gluten From The Dishwasher?
notme replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
yup, gem, i share my stainless steel with the gluten eaters - we hit it with a scouring pad (s.o.s. or brillo, etc), rinse it and it goes in the dishwasher. i sometimes even (*gasp*) cook my (gluten-free) pasta first, drain it, and then use the same (stainless steel) pot to cook gluten pasta - that way you only have one pot to wash let me add, i am... -

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Get Gluten From The Dishwasher?
notme replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
and i think exactly the opposite. you're talking high speed high temp water, here. my dishwasher is TERRIBLE and i am sensitive (we are celiacs, aren't we all sensitive to gluten?) and i would eat off of dishes out of a dishwasher hands down any day of the week over dishes washed by hand. hands down. any, day, of. the. week. i have friends who eat... -
