  1. ok. your video is about xanax. i take xanax, not every day, just when i have anxiety (usually caused by outside sources ie: my daughter had a car wreck, i am going on an airplane, etc) it helps me so much, especially since i am still underweight and it helps not turn my insides to goo when i get stressed. i have no trouble functioning and it doesn't...
  2. this thread is from 2006 - many manufacturers have changed their ingredients trending towards gluten free. plus, with the changes in labeling laws, if an ingredient is derived from wheat it must be listed even if it's not easily identified. modified food starch is mostly made from corn, but if it's from wheat they have to label it clearly. so, read your...
  3. thanks -- i think i will take a look-see at that website
  4. have your doc check your vitamin levels and your thyroid, as well. what cheers me up? CARTOONS!!! tivo some venture brothers or some good old bugs bunny. music cheers me up, gardening cheers me up, crashing through the woods on a 4-wheeler cheers me up - and here's the dumbest thing i would have NEVER thought: volunteering (ikr?!!!) i stay involved...
  5. winner! lolz - is that what your doc recommended, tess? my doc has me on d2 - why is d3 better? i'm going on wednesday, trying to get all my ducks in a row (before i go see my quack LOLZ couldn't resist that one - he's really not a bad doc. he just needs fine-tuning lolz) what are the drops in or is it just 'straight' vitamin d3?
  6. take heart - yes, keep a food journal. it's super helpful to identify 'suspect' foods/ingredients. another thing i forgot to mention: some things just don't agree with me. no gluten, just certain brands, for no specific reason. choose things with the least amounts of ingredients. even non-wheat containing distilled vinegar will sometimes cause my guts...
  7. also i used to have a bit of a hard time with egg in the beginning - i always recommend using a food journal and write down EVERYTHING (i used to have 'suspects' lolz) sometimes, at the end of the day (or the next day) i forgot what i had eaten - the journal made me say "oh, yeah, i *did* eat that yesterday" good luck
  8. oopsies - answered twice - lolz - that's annoying
  9. oops - i put my reply in your other thread about this...... i have a secondary sensitivity to soy <mimics a gluten reaction but not as severe and doesn't last long) i probably wouldn't eat these (especially if i was pretty new and still not healed much yet) because of the chocolate chips. even now, i only eat a tiny bit of chocolate at a time if...
  10. i have a secondary sensitivity to soy <mimics a gluten reaction but not as severe and doesn't last long) i probably wouldn't eat these (especially if i was pretty new and still not healed much yet) because of the chocolate chips. even now, i only eat a tiny bit of chocolate at a time if it contains soy. i'm hoping to 'outgrow' the soy thing because...
  11. a cookout! that would be cool unfortunately, i believe i am the only celiac in east tennessee lolz or at least it feels like it sometimes. i would seriously like to know who keeps buying up all the plain white bread (both brands!) that i like
  12. just drop the kid here - everybody else does! lolz! and don't pay me - nobody else does! i watch (my grandson, my neice & nephew, the kid next-door, etc...) the kids so their parents can work. i always hope they're getting ahead, then i hear they do stupid crap with their $$ and wonder what i'm doing this for....... you can probably do...
  13. i am planning to go down there for a few days - trucking stuff - and i was looking around on the web a little. i have a ton of friends down there but i'm pretty sure they have no clue bummer, too, because his boss always takes a bunch of us out to dinner. nice people down there and i know a bunch of people who went to u of a. (although, technically...
  14. i feel ya, kiddo. hang in there. if he sees you feeling so well (on a regular basis!) it will probably convince him. my husband has seen many positive changes in my overall health - i actually have some energy again - (i can do 2 (two!) things in one day and not be in bed for the next day all day) maybe give it a little time.....
  15. hi, tess - my doc has me on 50,000 iu 1x per week - mine was at 24 - i'm going for a visit on wednesday, so i am curious how much they have gone up (i hope!) certainly makes a big difference and i was surprised at how low i was. i'm going to ask if i can take a lower dose once per day (hard to remember once a week and i have a brain like a seive lolz) and...
  16. this law enables the fda to tighten labeling loopholes. 20 (or less) parts per 1,000,000 - that's a pretty small amount (if it actually contains any at all) if you are this sensitive, you are probably not eating much of this stuff anyway. there is plenty of food that is all naturally gluten free. the gluten fairy is not going to come around and sprinkle...
  17. indeed, it does list wheat as an ingredient online - do you still have the bag/package that doesn't say it? maybe they changed ingredients or make the meatballs on the same line as wheat-y ones? sorry you are sick!
  18. the "AAH!!" factor - if i flip over the box and the ingredients are 1) a mile long and 2) too many 'chemical' words <really, anything i can't identify or has been modified to a 54-letter word) i just say "AAH!!" and put it back fast mostly, i shop the perimeter, also
  19. lexi is doing better, i think i think i saw her on here, kicking around traveling food ideas, so she is planning ahead for her trip. we all hit a bump sometimes, i know i have. bella - make sure your grandma doesn't cc you - she probably has more hidden gluten in her baking equipment and she doesn't come with an fda warning lolz also, i think...
  20. diana - that is great news! however, lolz, when i read your topic title i thought they had been amputated!
  21. it is a treat to find somewhere safe, yummy and delicious. when i do, i am justified in spending $$ because most of the time i'm sitting in the corner eating my cardboard bread by myself (KIDDING!! lolz i just couldn't resist!) anyways, yeah, rene you got the double whammy with the shellfish - i have a friend <i know, right?! lolz) who is allergic...
  22. LOLZ! then i have visions of me trying to get my other shoe on, wrestling with the frozen bread to get the slices apart, (stuff is falling out of the freezer) breaking off a (way too big) hunk of it and jamming it in my pocket. all this at a dead run hahahahaaa i am always late for church! but, by the time they do communion, it's thawed
  23. been there, done that. if i get glutened it takes 2 days for it to fully hit me. then it's another 12 of feeling like i've been hit by a truck. not worth it. most of us have some sort of food with us at all times, lolz. ya never know when you're going to be stuck without anything to eat. just avoid having to make that choice by thinking ahead ...
  24. yes, my reaction to gluten is worse! i sort of attributed it to feeling better, though. like, when i was feeling so bad, all the time, i didn't notice feeling any different - just bad - sick, tired, headache, feeling like i was 90 years old, not to mention all the 'regular' stomach/digestion issues. so, when i started feeling pretty good, or even better...
  25. i leave you alone for FIVE MINUTES............! ih: lyme disease? check. rodent bite? check. tetanus shot? check. shoulder owie? check. migraine? check. and now.. what ugh how many things are left??!! feel better, miss-we're-gonna-hafta-wrap-you-in-bubble-wrap. and all that lawnmower racing is bad for your shoulder owie. just sayin' i...
