there one i found online called a 'no-nonsense' - stainless steel (advertised as waterproof. what?.....) it looks pretty indestructible and it's like 50 bucks plus engraving. i only need one line, lolz, so i'm open for suggestions on the second line diamonds & me don't mix - we part ways pretty quick as i am not easy on my jewelry. my 'good...

ARCHIVED Visit With Primary Care Doctor
notme replied to laura1959's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
your body's response to the gluten-free diet is also used as one of the diagnostic 'tools' - my doctor took this into account when she dx'd me. i started gaining weight almost immediately - very happy to see my cheeks again. both sets welcome and good luck! -
great news! congratulations!

who's got two thumbs and singlehandedly kills a 438 page thread ? <this girl> so, in an effort of redemption, here is some chocolate: my nephew works at a chocolate place in the mall (starts with a 'g', ends with 'odiva') and at the end of the evening, they can't sell the stuff they have leftover. so, every night we got a giant bag o... -
LOLZ!! sounds like 'here' - they just moved from the old hospital in town (i mean OLD) where we live is 2 blocks from it and we used to hear the med-evac helicopter coming in and yell at it 'lie down!! you're dead!!'

ARCHIVED Positive Biopsy But Doc Says I Do Not Have Celiac?
notme replied to no7ang's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
is your doctor telling you you're not sick enough to be sick? if you have tested positive from biopsy, i (am not a doctor) would think that is positive for celiac. is that what he tested the biopsy for? false negatives in blood tests are common - depends on what specific test(s) they did. do yourself a favor and get a copy of all your test results. some... -
(psst! it's only july ) (or do you know the winning lottery numbers - ) cc IS a big deal! my husband came home from hunting once and was excitedly telling the tale of his latest conquest while i was making a huge pot of spaghetti sauce. he ripped off a piece of (gluteny bread and dipped it right into the WHOLE POT!!! DAHHHHH!! i was all like...

i sure think it would make everybody shut up lolz "oh, *I* have to get a medic-alert but *you* don't, hmmmmm? mother?" that is disappointing especially with a kid, you would expect people to pay extra attention.

ARCHIVED Is It Normal To Constantly Be Starving?
notme replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
hang in there... it'll get better. i attribute(d) my hunger as my body making up for not eating/hastily evacuating years of food. i think my stomach had to stretch as i never ate very much. ever. so when i started *eating* and things began to work again as they should, i wanted more. i mean NOW i am STARVING - my husband calls my hungry stomach 'fatty... -
gem - i am tatt-free as well - i tell the tatters: i'm a rebel who *doesn't* get a tatt? this girl, that's who. my two oldest daughters are lousy with them - i was so pissed but it's not worth it. they do what they do. i just hope st. peter recognizes them the oldest is a crew chief on an f-22 in the usaf, and she has to have hers done where...

right - and that was my point of view, too - if i'm passed out, probably the least of my worries is someone trying to feed me cake. husband and son (ok my daughters too) was that everybody's on the gluten-free diet, many not for medical reasons. i have been more adventurous lately with trying to eat out safely but it seems people offering gluten-free options...

ARCHIVED Normal To Feel Great 1St Week, And Up And Down After?
notme replied to Beary133's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i don't have thyroid issues (although it is so common, i am almost expecting it) but you are probably going through gluten withdrawal. now that gluten is out of your system, your body is re-adjusting. i went through it - feels sort of like the flu - i had to rest and i drank alot of water. it took a couple of weeks to feel better again, but every day was... -
road ID? do tell! is it a bracelet or card? i used to print tiny cards to fit into my kids' shoes with all their contact info, etc. when they were little - something like that? i'm not much of a runner unless someone is chasing me
-
once again, i am considering getting one. my husband thinks i should, because of all the fad dieters and he is worried someone won't take my health issue seriously. my son is t1 diabetic and is telling me not to be a hypocrite <because i wanted HIM to have one - lolz - he got a giant tattoo on his chest of the medic-alert symbol) has anyone gotten one...

ARCHIVED Ate Gluten Accidentally, But Didn't React! Why?
notme replied to katiehammond's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
since i have been gluten free for quite awhile, my reaction to getting glutened starts slowly - headache, neck pain, etc, soooooo tired and very, very snippy - full on 'validation' doesn't come for 2 days for me. gives me time to clear my schedule. for 14 days......... so far that has been my normal 'glutening' - it used to fool me into doubting if... -
lolz - i have visions of me leaping across the kitchen just as he is about to use the Same Tongs - like i was diving on a grenade. that was a tough one - i think i ended up explaining it in NCIS abby's lab terms <he loves that show and the guy who plays mike franks has a house nearby) explaining plastic containers and cc is ridiculously ridiculous -...

ARCHIVED Craving Pasta--Help!
notme replied to Trapp's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
tinkyada is what we eat - it's brown rice pasta - so, no corn or quinoa or funky ingredients i am sometimes bothered by. or i will sub in maifun noodles for angel hair pasta <also made of rice + nothing else. we had a ton of zucchini and yellow squash from the garden, so we made lasagne using sliced zucchini layered with the sauce, cheese, etc. -... -
being born and raised in nj meant one thing to all of us northern nj brats - you cut your baby teeth on a pizza crust so, for the past few years i have been suffering through visits up there and watching everybody inhale their yummy pizza. or travel over an hour to have gluten free pizza by myself. recently, my girlfriend told me about a new place that...

notme replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i am (it's almost my geefreeanniversareee!) just about 3 years gluten-free and i still feel like i have days when i can not get enough to eat - as soon as i'm done eating, i'm hungry again. what helps me is drinking kefir or eating greek yogurt - for some reason it keeps me full enough until i can make myself something else to eat. nom nom nom.... i... -

we are the opposite: i was comfy hanging out in nyc and he was one'a them thar sussex county boys - half the time he thinks i jest ain't right. the other half he is laughing hysterically with me at terrible humor. (new business idea: butcher/bar named BUTCHAHOLIC - where you can come in and pick up dinner. you can have 2 beers at the bar, then you gotta... -
you can call the caterer/venue and find out how knowledgable they are (i have been pleasantly surprised recently, even by - maybe especially by younger staff ) trust your gut! if you hear hesitation or doubt when you are explaining what you need, you might just want to go to plan b or c. if they sound like they know their stuff, make sure they know...

poor baby ;( so sorry - it sure does suck and i know where you're coming from. i was so sick of saying, "i'm so sick" that when this finally got diagnosed, he was happy to put a name on it. then he could fight it. maybe he would see it from that angle? i had to skip dairy for awhile (but was able to add it back) and soy is still a problem <boy...
-
yes, read the newbie 101 thread - are you taking a probiotic? shadow also has a good point - dairy is a problem in the beginning - if you have damage to your villi they are not producing what your digestive system needs to process dairy. i would skip it for awhile (i think i did 6 months) and then try it back.
