  6. i think you have to eat, like, a pound of them, though lolz now i am having visions of jeff goldblum: "heeeeelp meeeeeeeee!!!!!!"
  7. no, there is no driving on ice - snow, maybe, if you're pretty good at it (and it takes years of practice and usually wrecking a few times) but, if it's ice, stay home. you are a wise woman. i don't even drive in the snow down here, because everybody else sucks at it <and they will wreck you) lolz - you should see the people running to the stores...
  8. tonight is swedish (venison) pot roast - i'll throw some potatoes and carrots into it and call it done - something warm, as the cold is catching up with us here in east tennessee my daughter lives on the coast of nc, and she sent me a photo of the thermometer reading on her car yesterday - 87 degrees!!! this sure is some crazy weather!!! last night...
  9. beans, beans, the musical fruit.......... <no science lolz if you're already drinking a gallon of water, maybe it's the healing. digestion is going to cause some 'combustion' (i actually had to learn how to pass the gas because it used to just be the big D, if you know what i mean.)
  10. me, too hi cap6 <we are silly-yak birthday twins, into our 4th year) this thread slapped me back to reality - a club i belong to is having a Christmas party on monday - at a place that caters but is also very popular for their wedding cakes. i called there and they said "can you eat a salad?" i said with no croutons, yes. then, silence....
  11. lolz! that is hilarious! my sister got me some 'ninja bread men' cookie cutters - they are shaped in karate moves. i got rid of all my old glutenous cookie cutters (some were from when we were kids - boo )and i had 30-40 of them. i think i'm down to 6. lolz - and no good roll out recipe. we used to make anise flavored roll outs and paint them with...
  12. yummmm - wrap that sucker in bacon and pop it in the oven sounds like tenderloin? backstrap? doesn't matter, elk is dee-licious! i've only had it a few times - once was an elk burger.
  13. these are billed as 'the forgotten cookie' sometimes, but we always called them 'nitey-nites'. my grandkids loooove them 2 egg whites 1/2 cup sugar 1 - (6 oz) package of chocolate chips nuts (optional) beat egg whites until stiff. add sugar and continue beating until dry looking. add chips (and nuts, if you want) and stir with a spoon. drop...
  14. CRACKERS THAT TASTE LIKE CRACKERS?!?!?!! surely this is a myth......... laura - i would make chicken lasagne and use slices (thin, lengthwise) of zucchini as the lasagne noodles - yummmmz - i miss my garden! tonight - i am still trying to revamp my freezer, so i had some sausage & mushroom cream sauce for pasta in there. i has some shrimp and...
  15. thanx, abbs - good stuff. love #6 and #7 (miss my mom!) i have been volunteering for this and that. helps to forget your troubles and do good stuff in the community meet new people and have fun with a purpose. (tastes like zeroes and ones....... )
  16. i like to think this way: i feel pretty good almost every day, now that i am healing. when i was still consuming gluten, i felt BAD every day, but it came on so gradually that i didn't notice it (just a little worse, tired-er, headache was constant, etc, and of course the big D). and that was the effects of the gluten reaction (plus gut damage) so, now...
  17. (throws self on floor) i would LOVE a gingerbread cookie! one that i didn't have to fingerprint or hover over for fear of ("O MY GOSH don't use that spoon!!) someone contaminating it it's been a rough week (ok, month) for me. i have had house guests pretty steadily for about 2 months (with little breaks in between) and for about a month of that time...
  18. gilligan, are you taking probiotics? that helps with the D - i take culturelle, one in the morning and one at bedtime. it has worked really well - don't be discouraged in the beginning if your guts sound like world war 3 is going on in there! but after a week or two, things should settle down as your good gut 'bugs' get cozy in there i had the hardest...
  19. that sounds like glutening to me, too - mine takes about 2 days to come up to full on headache, fatigue, joint pain, the big D, etc, and mine hangs around for 2 weeks. gluten intolerance is so hard to diagnose i hope you feel better - it's amazing what clears up when gluten is removed, isn't it? i was really a non-believer when i started the diet, but...
  20. 36-53 percent of the 30 percent of people who carry the gene develop the disease. that is different than what you are purporting.
  21. boo at dinner buffets, i play the 'cc game' also known as 'can't eat that' - i look at the buffet items and pick out the ones that MIGHT be safe, like green salads, plain chicken, veggies etc and then i watch as (somebody drops a crouton in the salad, somebody switched the spoon from the gravy into the chicken, etc) it turns to poison right before my...
  22. there is some pretty good info on the newbie 101 thread in the 'coping with' section of the forum.
  23. that is not true. not all celiacs have a leaky gut.
  24. nearly every household in the south has sort of the same sweet potato & pecan casserole our church made a recipe book and we had no less than 8 different variations of the same recipe lolz - and the one i always used had flour in the pecan topping. i still make it, just sub gluten-free flour (it's not that much, but enough to make one of us sick!)...
  25. either sex - it's the last day of black powder - rifle starts here tomorrow - hubss is taking the 10 yr old grandson for his field test the kid already has his own rifle. so does his uncle, our son, who never showed any interest at all. the grandkid, however, could eat breathe sleep & dream hunting. maybe it skips a generation? too late,...
