  1. thank you, my sweet dears. love2, i'm sorry i am sounding disjointed in my ramblings. they didn't steal her vehicle, but things from inside. the flu might have been my blessing in disguise, as i have quit smoking and i helped quite a bit not to have the will to live, much less the urge to smoke, lolz. it had been planned as a new years res and i guess...
  2. yahhh! People Losing Weight on Purpose: please send some here!!! i have been down (i mean, in the bed, sweating for 4 days, went thru all my t-shirts and then half of the hubs) have not eaten a thing. i got stupid for a minute on nye (because it was also my son's girfriend's b-day and her own mama couldn't make it to her celebration - something about...
  3. ps - that is about chicken that you buy raw in the food store that is not pre-seasoned, pre-breaded, pre-=cooked., plain, identifiable, looks like a chicken part or a whole chicken, not chopped and pre-formed, etc. as far as chicken in restaurants, which could be pre-seasoned or get cc'd by the grill. no, thanks.
  4. i avoid most pre-packaged salad dressings because of soy. salad dressing peoples loves 'em some soybean oil. in the beginning, i was confused because my (gut) reaction mimicked my reaction to gluten. it took a little time to differentiate between the two types of reactions because they were so similar (at first, my guts reacted to *lots* of things that...
  5. this is an old thread, so everybody, please make sure you read labels every single time ! the sweet baby ray's bbq sauce i use says 'gluten free' right on it. i don't have a problem with it (except eating the whole bottle lolz)
  6. you don't do any digesting in your colon. i am thinking of getting one, but i am old enough for it to be a good idea to monitor. how about: did you de-contaminate your kitchen? replace your (glutened) cutting boards, colanders, strainers, scratched plastic/wooden spoons, scratched non-stick pans, etc? read the newbie 101 thread in the coping section...
  7. i am confused as to why you are starting a gluten-free diet. what sort of issues are you having? and what tests (besides celiac) have been done and what were the results?
  8. this is actually not a great idea if you have celiac and haven't completed testing. very painful and difficult to re-introduce the 'poison' when further testing is required. although, i'm glad you are feeling better, rukh, there are also other things that could be causing symptoms that need additional therapies/medications. tally - you said you basically...
  9. hey, timguy i would think you are still healing - it's been over 3 years since i was diagnosed with celiac, and i am still healing. certain things will absolutely irritate a damaged gut, although some mistakenly attribute this to cross reactivity (of which there is no scientific proof) but i would bet that you will do better as you heal. a good idea would...
  10. cheap answer: buy a sharpie. problem solved
  11. and here's my 2cents lolz - i have a HUGE family. sometimes only one of us gets sick (not often, but sometimes) just the right germ in the right place at the right time. maybe you just have a bug. and, hormones will make my gi tract all wonky - i get tired and of course abdominal pain. the first couple of months (ok, the first year ) i went crazy...
  12. my mother would have been overjoyed to finally know what has been wrong with me all these years. she may have even suggested cutting out gluten to me over the years, but i wasn't sick enough, i guess. when i got dx'd, the first person i wanted to tell was my mom. she is in heaven, so i'm sure she knows. i always had issues when i was a kid, but my trigger...
  13. W00T! W00T! i already use their stuff, but read all the ingredients every time, couldn't find anything i recognized as gluten, and said a little prayer but that is very helpful. thanx, popt
  14. i hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season we had 24 people for Christmas dinner (and 7 dogs and 2 cats) they were delicious.
  15. i *still* think it's a miracle if i have a Good Poop Morning lolz congratulations, coffngrl keep up the good work!
  16. that is fabulous! (except about your mom, but stick to your guns lolz) i was miserable when my husband found this site for me. thank goodness, because i understood NOTHING about this disease. it's sort of a "HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW BODY" that "why don't you try going gluten free and see how you feel" is probably my biggest gripe about doctors...
  17. i like that, too here's the thing - it's hard not to talk about, in normal life. if you're eating out, you *have* to discuss it at length, because you have to make sure you can eat safely. if you're bringing your own, somebody is going to ask you why you're brown bagging it at a cocktail party. kid's penis? not so much (no offense - not something...
  18. it took a little while - i honestly didn't connect the dots and wasn't expecting it but suddenly i could carry TWO things down the stairs. (not holding the railing for dear life) and drive without feeling like i was falling off the road. i think it's neurological, which is slower to heal. hang in there! mine was 'falling' and 'leaning' - could not...
  19. i had vertigo, before i knew i had celiac. they attributed it to an inner ear problem, maybe caused by inflammation from allergies. it has since cleared up after i went gluten free
  20. i'm with you, gem. it doesn't help that most people don't know what gluten is.........
  21. it was more distressing thinking of all those horses walking around without hooves......... (ok! ok! i'll behave! )
  22. i quit licking envelopes years ago. gagg. no gluten or corn reason, it's just gross. if i have one i need to seal, i hit it with a wet kleenex or make somebody else lick it. if i buy envelopes, i buy the peel n seal ones. everybody knows stamp & envelope glue is made from horse hooves <not true but that's probably why i quit licking them....
  23. unfortunately, we hear this so much on here - people get tested, get a negative, and go on to the next disease.... sometimes they are given the wrong test, sometimes the doctor reads it wrong, sometimes it's borderline but within the parameters of 'normal' - my own blood test was negative (but i was already off gluten) but i was diagnosed via endoscopy....
  24. can her doc not test her for celiac? that does sound like many symptoms that could be caused by gluten. in order for the test to be accurate, she must continue to eat gluten until after the test anyways. as far as her denial of it: oh, yeah, i can relate~! gluten almost killed me (and i suffered for years, not knowing what was wrong with my stupid...
  25. gnocchi gnudi!!?? i *love* that dish tonight is church dinner w/kids Christmas program (grandson & niece & nephew are in it) so i am making a pasta/tiny sausage meatball bake. omgosh, i could not stop eating the sausage meatballs, they are sooooo good. just sausage, egg, bread & breadcrumbs (and a little milk) yumzz........... oh...
