ARCHIVED Bloating
notme replied to Frosty-35768's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
oops - almost forgot - once you're gluten-free, you may discover that you have other intolerances that weren't evident when gluten was still making you sick - topping the list: corn & soy. i have a secondary soy sensitivity that i was unaware of until i started feeling better off the gluten. it mimics a gluten hit, but doesn't last as long. i try... -

the amount of hunger i experience is directly co-related to how far away i am from safe foods lolz - if i walk outside and forget my snackbackpack, i am instantly starving! in the beginning, i kept a food journal and i wrote down everything that passed my lips and how i felt after eating. when i was first dx'd, it was suggested to cut out all dairy, because... -

ARCHIVED The Whole Church Turned Around
notme replied to eers03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
my church is like that, too i absolutely love them - they are like family. all the kids are all of our kids, so funny to watch them grow into adults and then have kids of their own. my grandkids go to choir practice, just like mine did. i still make meals for the youth and kids groups even though none of them are mine. yesterday i sewed a robe for a... -
there ya go - advance planning is the way to go. i have a 'snack pack' - a backpack i always have with me when i leave the house. that way, i'm not starving and tempted to make bad or unsafe choices. sometimes it just has snacks, sometimes i pack it with dinner or a sandwich, etc.

that is awesome, annette!!! and great advice, as well it does get a little bumpy sometimes, but soooooooooo worth it. i, too, was limping toward my open grave and i'm so glad i COMMITTED to this diet. it takes a little ironing out to make sure you are strictly gluten-free and, you're right - that is so important. thanx for this encouraging post love...

notme commented on moosemalibu's blog entry in moosemalibu's Blog
i'm not a body builder and i barely work out, but i had to give up my career :( i am a freight broker (a *natural* as i was brought up in the trucking industry - cut me, i bleed diesel lolz) i tried working from home, but found i was not interested in eating when i was making deals (can't munch in the customer's ear) and it's constant busy if you're doing... -
Frustration. All I Want Is To Be Normal
notme commented on moosemalibu's blog entry in moosemalibu's Blog
it's a big change! it IS stressful! cut yourself some slack, sweetie, and give it some time. i don't know how long your celiac was 'activated' (by your injury? i am guessing?) but you have had it for awhile and it's been busy tearing up your guts. i suffered with mine for 25 years, and i am at year 3 gluten free - still healing - i know this because...
