  1. I like Karen's offer. if it comes with a voodoo doll (sitting here laughing at image of people rolling in food "oh, well, I think i'll just eat now" pow! hit the ground, rolling lololz that would be so gross)
  2. um. I think y'all are on the same team, anyway, lolz. I have a good chiropractor who cracks my back and neck. I have a gastroenterologist for my celiac.. totally different parts of the body... otherwise, we would just roll around in our food when we're hungry.... naked but I digress. if there are 'gluten specialists' they should probably start...
  3. i remember you - you posted a link to your blog, which is self promo, which is not allowed. when you make an account here, you agree to certain rules and courtesies. lisa is one of the people who is going through something similar to your affictions so she understands to some degree. I am questioning the validity of eating cloth that has been rubbed on...
  4. where exactly does one get certified to be a certified gluten practitioner ? Shotgun Bob's School for the Poor and Unemployed?? sign me up.............. keep your dollars, folks! dah!
  5. I have heard rave reviews about the Breton gluten-free, but, alas it is a myth in east Tennessee lolz I have tried other crackers but have yet to purchase the holy grail that is Breton
  6. have you considered this to be a side effect from the meds you are not taking now> a rash is a side effect of Adderall. maybe you are affected by withdrawal. good luck!
  7. how's your vitamin levels? also, you might have a sensitivity to something else. you might want to use a food journal to try to figure it out. the only problem with that is, you may not be able to list every ingredient if you are eating out. me, I have a secondary sensitivity to soy. it mimics a gluten reaction and it does make me nervous and jerky....
  8. you have an awesome time, IH!!!! congrats on the solo flight!!!! last night was a big ole' pot o' chili - (and it was lunch today, too lolz) hubs is rototilling the garden, so I had some rogue parsley and one sage plant that didn't have enough sense to freeze to death. so, tonight's dinner will be parsley.......... and............... yah, that...
  9. i second the bra thing!!!!!!!!!! i do the same thing: if i'm planning to (go on a trip, to an event, whatever that i don't want interuppted) i eat my "safe foods" for days leading up to such event. here's my situation: i worked for 30 years, while raising 4 kids and my husband is on the road most of the time. all the while getting sicker and...
  10. yay!! for you two i'm so glad y'all made it through and are feeling better! sorry, no fancy jumpy smilies, lolz hey, mw, so good to see you!! glad you are doing well with your job!! tonight is venison stew in the crockpot. hubby is running a full schedule, so I am having to entertain myself........ he is home tonight so I think I will go...
  11. well, celiac is an extreme disease! duh. yes, you DO have to be that careful. too bad what your friend thinks. I heard a little sarcasm at first from my friends/family, but I am serious and very strict about what I eat and I never ever cheat. they have come to respect that. even my foodie friends, when they have dinner parties, they tell me what's on...
  12. ONE biopsy - that is insane. maybe time to get a new doctor they also should have told you that you need to be eating gluten prior to the test. now that you have already been gluten free, if gluten is your problem, it is going to be very painful if not impossible to re-introduce gluten for (what is it, 6-8 weeks? I can never remember..) for a gluten...
  13. (my quote button is still not working - unless it's me + new computer??????????? I don't know why that would be.....) anyways,w8n4, if it wasn't packed in anything, why do you think it had soy? just plain tuna doesn't have it. what were the ingredients in it? those little pouches are vacuum sealed... (barty - really? wow, that's a bummer )
  14. (hm. my quote button is acting up ) gem, I hear ya! I got a closet full of clothes, all different sizes (NONE too big, though) pants are my biggest misery, namely jeans. my daughters go shopping with me with one hand over their face in embarrassment. they know, at some point, I am going to go up to the sales girl and accuse them of changing the...
  15. the last time i was privy to his spew, he was working the angle that gluten free would miraculously make you lose weight. lolz - i am sitting here at 119 lbs (up from 97 lbs 3 1/2 yrs ago when i was dx'd) struggling to gain more. what a load of crap..............
  16. i am more likely to be eating wierd stuff (cravings) when it gets to be around "that time" - in the beginning, it was maddening because it was when i was more apt to eat something without checking and gluten myself. then, later on, i thought i was glutening myself around the time of my period because the symptoms were similar (cramps, D, headache, fatigue...
  17. ps - you may have a problem digesting lactose in the beginning so you may want to skip the dairy, as well, and add it back in later. i stopped for about 6 months and then i was healed enough to tolerate it.
  18. 2-3 weeks. feels like the Angry Flu, lolz. then you will start feeling better each day better than the last
  19. go to the coping section of this forum and read the newbie 101 thread. probably more practical info on there than you will get from the healthcare pros. i don't know about the UK but my doc said "congratulations you have celiac. don't eat gluten. good luck" so, most of us have had to figure it out on our own. pshaw. i hardly even catch a cold anymore...
  20. i guess i'm lucky that i already had an assertive personality. squatchy: don't let anybody touch your food if you bring safe food with you!! put it in a bag and hide it until you're ready to eat it. i have gone as far as put a skull & crossbones on mine, lolz because, think about it: most people *will* ruin it! not intentionally, but what is...
  21. yah, and most times, when an ingredient list says: " vegetable oil ", it's soybean oil...... you can get tuna that is packed in water
  22. one out of the three tests for celiac dx:(1) tTG IgA, (2)EMA IgA and (3)biopsy.
  23. the doctor already didn't do the test that rash is HELL - they call dh "the suicide rash".
  24. lolz! i have found that my tolerance for alcohol has diminished aka i am a cheap date since i'm gluten free. i can drink beer, and....... that's it. zero to s#!tfaced if i drink wine. i dare not try anything stronger because i don't have that much bail $$$ lolz if you are new to the diet, i agree with the others. give your body a chance to heal...
  25. leftover gumbo.......... i did make potato chip cookies for dessert, though. the jury's out about them. maybe i will dip them in chocolate - because that fixes everything........ (plus, i got the enjoy life soy free chocolate chips. if i hate them, my neighbor can have her goofy magazine back - potato chip cookies? that's just crazy........... ...
