thanx, skylark - haha I was the 'party game' - I totally kept my cool, though. I credit that to my diet *wink* I'm also much calmer and sleeping better I sure hope nobody was discouraged by that report.

well , then, that's a good thing I was dragged (kicking and screaming) to my senses lol

saturday was my husband's family reunion. I spent the better part of the day explaining why I couldn't eat anything except what I brought (which I brought enough for everybody of everything) also going over every dish and telling people what was in it that I couldn't eat and the rest of the time having people come up to me and say 'try this and see if it...

thank you I am very new to all this so I didn't feel comfortable writing to them. I thought I might mess up my facts as I am still learning.

o my gosh, when she said that, my jaw dropped! half the battle with dealing with this (for me, so far) is educating my family and people around me that this is NOT something that is ever going to change. I. can't. eat. gluten. period, end of story. for a national news program to throw such a statement out to the public sets us all back! in a matter...

ARCHIVED I Feel Better But Still Lost More Weight!
notme replied to notme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
right now I am not taking any vitamins except b-12. I thought maybe since my body was actually absorbing nutrients maybe I would get enough from a balanced diet. but, yeah, I stay away from high calorie/carbs normally (except bread!) so I am going to add a lot more and also get my hands in some gluten-free multi-vitamins. thanx -

ARCHIVED Question For Those With Neurological Symptoms
notme replied to mommyto3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
my first pregnancy was my celiac 'trigger' - my first misdiagnosis: colitis. wierd how I can look back over the past 25 yrs and all the pieces of my (sick) life fall into place. ie: I was hospitalized years ago dehydrated and couldn't keep anything down. had a giant anxiety attack. the drs stood around my room scratching their heads. they thought... -

still feel like I have the flu but my 'guts' are behaving. I haven't got a gluten free vitamin supplement yet. just tylenol and sublingual b-12. my sense of smell (wow) seems to be coming back and today I went a very long time before I felt like I needed to have a cigarette. food is tasting awesome and I am munching gluten-free deliciousness. but I am... -

notme replied to sahm-i-am's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
it could be worse? it WAS worse! imagine taking all your meals and chucking them down the toilet... lol after schooling my husband on cc issues and me bringing all my own food to his family reunion, he is showing me the box the burgers came in '100 pct beef' I said: and you're gonna cook it on what? and just blinked and walked away. later I saw... -

ARCHIVED Conflicting Explanations From Kraft Regarding Ingredients Labeling
notme replied to Sarah8793's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
sorry - didn't mean to confuse anyone - kinda new here. I'm just amazed at this ingredient's (that I never even heard of) affect and that it has already been discussed on here. taylor ham is not a kraft product. -
ARCHIVED Eating Disorder Brought On By Gluten Intolerance?
notme replied to kdonov2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
is not eating because it hurts (but in my mind I simply wasn't hungry and food had no appeal to me) considered a disorder? cuz, now that I know what's wrong and adjusting my diet, boy does food taste good again. that reminds me: I'm hungry my husband of 20 something years has never seen me eat so much. sooooo... I can see the connection and I'm not... -
ARCHIVED Conflicting Explanations From Kraft Regarding Ingredients Labeling
notme replied to Sarah8793's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED "But You Can Eat Whole Wheat, Right?"
notme replied to earthtoneNJ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
some people are so insensitive! after years spent not eating ever, I think I would say, 'thank you. and how are you doing on YOUR diet?' and look very concerned probly hard to do with a straight face -
wow! I feel EMPOWERED for the first time in my life, THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!!! and I can control it I am still not even all the way healed, but I feel better than I have since I was diagnosed with 'colitis' 25 years ago. I had no idea how much I planned around/skipped things/compromised my life because I felt like krap or was waiting to feel sick...

lol I just chickened out of eating at sonny's bbq. I am *this minute* taking a nap in the car while husband and son are inside eating. I am so afraid to eat anything I didn't fix myself!! I haven't felt this good in years and years and I'm not about to risk getting cc'd. even though their menu says its ok. :/

ARCHIVED First Gluten-Free Road Trip - Any Advice?
notme replied to notme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was leaning toward bribery lol my son had actually bought this brand of beer (he likes unusual and this is made with sorghum) and liked it. I'm going to call the venue tomorrow and see what works. worse comes to worse I drag around ziploks full of goodies and NEVER SHARE lolol *practices hand-smacking* -

notme replied to notme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
good call: I'm with the big spender. who doesn't want me pouting all night (lol not a huge pouter - I s'pose I could fake it) also the boost I forgot about them. I thought they were bothering me but I think it was the probiotics - need to read up more. also got some sublingual b-12 (but didn't feel that bad!) today was a goood day )) -
ARCHIVED First Gluten-Free Road Trip - Any Advice?

so, we are hitting the road - i am nervous as a cat! i am planning to take all my meals (i should probably make some cookies, too, and bring some snackie crackers) it's a 3 hour car ride each way. a group of us travel around and see our favorite band, so we will be sharing the hotel room with other people (that we know very well, thank goodness!) also... -
awesome! way to have fun with it! what a great idea I have been cooking simple stuff, changing or omitting things from recipes and food remains delicious. more delicious now that I know what *not* to eat. haha but my family is a little wigged about the whole deal. (my husband is fighting me about giving away his soy sauce lol) so when I cook, toward...

God bless you, rae, when I was 14 I was clueless! I'm 47 and just beginning to understand why I can't stand to (even when I'm feeling fine) eat a sit-down meal with my family (my husband calls it my eating 'disorder') because when you ate dinner at my house when I was a kid my dad made us sit there *if you got up you were Done and got no dessert* of course...
