  1. I gave my neighbors my flour and barley and all that horrid packaged stuff. I kept all my cutting boards (loved them too much) and some non-stick pans, but cleaned (bleached) them really well. What took me the longest to do and is probably what I should have done in the first place is this: clean out your silverware drawer and the drawer where...
  2. I don't want to put a cramp on this post, but hello, MS and celiac has been linked. And celiac disease has been connected with several other autoimmune diseases. There is a definite link between MS and celiac disease. Please do your homework before throwing forks. Or put a half cup of "shut up" in whatever you're drinking!
  3. Soak in a tub with Epsom Salts and Baking Powder, and lemon rind or any herb or essence that you like. Use the hottest water you can stand, and stay in there as long as you can stand it. Detox. While you're soaking, relax and meditate. Think about the hot salt water pulling the poison out of your body and into the tub. Smell the essence of the herb...
  4. Watching other people eat doesn't faze me at all anymore. I just hope I won't have to listen to too much "Just one bite?" and "Not even the filling?" and "But that was always your favorite."
  5. I'm glad to have found answers for so many questions about my mental health. I'm happy to be happy again. I'm thrilled that I can laugh at a joke and can care about very basic things again. I'm happy that something in me isn't always upset (mind, body, bowels, stomach, nerves). And I'm really happy that things didn't progress. I don't have...
  6. In my case, I traced to to the Almond Milk, and there's some old posts about the Almond Milk that helped me figure it out. I don't know if that will help you, but I'd rather kiss my honey than drink almond milk! Good luck!

    ARCHIVED Celiac Cop

Karen, Arggh, I am sorry! I'm a vegetable farmer's daughter (onions), tend to be veggie focused and did not mean to be offensive. Celiac Cop, I hope you have a good shift from the other side. It isn't always going to be easy, but it gets better!
  8. You'll have good days and bad days. Your worst days now are better than the best days then.

    ARCHIVED Celiac Cop

I thought you were a mini pumpkin, Karen! Good luck Guy C, and wish you very good health. I hope you won't miss the donuts too much. Since you work on the road and may start packing your lunch, I've found that all hospital cafeterias have microwaves for employees to heat their lunches. Sometimes the hospital cafeterias have stuff that you...
  10. I'm pretty sure that gastro responses to actual food poisoning (botulism, etc.) occur about 8 hours after you consume the offensive food. Have you been ok with regular corn and other derivatives? (Like cornstarch?)
  11. I'm so skinny! When I was heavy (185 lbs.) nobody said anything, but now it seems everyone feels free to comment on how thin I am (138 lbs and 6' tall.) My appetite ebbs and wains. During the day, I'm sometimes ravenous but in the mornings and evenings (breakfast and dinner), it's a chore to eat. Lara Bars have hit Target, you can get a box of mini Lara...
  12. I was only #476. You've worked hard on this Marcee. I would have expected that more people would have participated.
  13. Hope you had a very happy birthday! Don't know if this will help anyone, but I've had the discussion (once) with family (in-laws and out-laws) that this isn't a "fad" diet, and it's not like choosing to be a vegetarian. It's a serious autoimmune disease that can lead to MS, Lupus, Cancer, Diabetes, GERD, Thyroid problems, and more. (I'm pretty sure...
  14. You will never get better if you cheat. If you stick close to the diet, you should feel progressively better week after week, but there will be some ups and downs, and you may discover more confounding food intolerances. Six months later, I'm feeling much better.
  15. There is so much pressure on you right now, and you're working hard for good health. You've made enough sacrifices in trying to discover and comply with your food intolerances that you shouldn't have to try to eat what your family prepares and then (presumably) suffer with the consequences. They cannot possibly know all of the derivitives of your allergen...
  16. Dear Puzz, You may have other, hopefully temporary food intolerances and/or allergies that are popping up because of your weakened autoimmune system. Google soy allergy on the forum, that's a common one. Nightshades have been problematic for many people too. If there was something that you were allergic to when you were a child but outgrew, you may...
  17. 1. I don't wish I would die anymore, or think about how death would be better than living. I'm very grateful about that. 2. For the first time in 18 months, I'm going to travel to see my mother, who I used to visit cross country every three months come hell or high water. (Hell came.) I'm going to be so happy when I see her! 3. I must admit...
  18. Thank you so much for your recipes and input. Tomorrow is my birthday...my first gluten-free birthday. I feel like you all have given me presents for better tomorrows, and I know next year is going to be soooooooooo much better than the year I'm kissing goodbye. Went crazy on faces, but that's how I feel. Have hope, happiness, health ... have been...
  19. This is really tasty! It's got sweet and sour and savory action. Dear BF gave it an A, and he's usually not keen about stews or soups. I had three servings! Cuban Picadillo 1/2 lb. ground sirloin or round 1 T. Olive Oil 1 stalk celery, chopped 1/4 cup chopped fresh green, red or yellow pepper (optional) 1 onion, chopped 4 garlic cloves,...
  20. Hope you let us know how it went... inquiring minds want to know. (It was better when they walked out the door to go home, right?! Hope it all went well, xo m
  21. OMG! Time to make bloody bones for Halloween! Meringue bones with crushed strawberries! Thanks for the link, and that will be so much fun! (Or you could make infected bones with chopped kiwi and/or pinapple. Sorry, I'm a sick one but like to have fun!
  22. Like previous posters (great advice everybody) I have a problem with breakfast but find that if I make myself eat something decent in the morning, I have fuel for a better day. Drizzle or spritz a glass bowl with olive oil, whip a cracked egg or two with water or alternative milk of your choice, and s & p & microwave for a minute. Meanwhile cut...
  23. Never underestimate the love of your mother, (unless of course, she's proven herself otherwise). My 87 y.o. Mom consulted a dietician about my food issues and told me about it after she did so! She knows about all of your food intolerances, right? You could make an hors d'oeurve of flaked tuna or chopped shrimp or salmon with chopped celery...
  24. I thought that I fell in love when I first found Udi's, but it seems that I've run out of love. (There's still have a loaf in the freezer that's been there for a month.) I make tuna salad or etc. and dip Frito's scoops into them vs. spreading on bread. I tried making gluten-free cornbread recently and was really unhappy with the results. My...
  25. Sound great! Thanks for the recipe! And I can relate to the root vegetable obsession.
