ARCHIVED Got Glutened
eatmeat4good replied to eatmeat4good's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I didn't get a migraine yet. I am very tired and had to nap, and feel sad and anxious. But I know that is just the reaction. If I get away without a migraine or D...I promise I will read before putting anything in my mouth ever again! DH sores flaring and eyes swollen....god I hope it doesn't last long. This just sucks...I was feeling really really... -
I just grabbed a bottle of Viacraves and popped two in my mouth. Then looked to see the adult dose...yes two so I'm all good. I popped two more because they tasted good and I figured the extra vitamins won't hurt me. Quick scanned the ingredients to be sure I wasn't overdosing Zinc or iron but did this as I was Swallowing the second two. Got to the bottom...

ARCHIVED Help! Two Son Whom Do Not Care
eatmeat4good replied to Karl Otto's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If your oldest son didn't have Celiac disease I'd say don't try to help a drug addict taht doesn't want help. BUT he has been Celiac for a long time right? Symptomatic? Maybe self medicating with drugs to feel better from the Celiac malnutrition. Don't give up on him yet. He needs time to accept the diagnosis too. You were searching for a diagnosis so you... -
It would have way to much gluten in it to be safe for someone who is Celiac or Gluten Intolerant. We have to avoid cross contamination in the tiniest of particles. You might feel lousy for a few days after eating that.

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Pain Fron The Knees Down?
eatmeat4good replied to ruca55's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh wow...I hope you try gluten free even if the testing turns out negative. It really could cause the problems you describe. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia?
eatmeat4good replied to meeegun's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey, I just wanted to chime in that gluten ataxia can be reversed in some people. My little sister has had it all her life and she is now in her 40's. She is improving, but neurological symptoms can take a long time to heal. She has only been gluten free a few months. And my son has had gluten ataxia since age 7- ironically since he ate his first pizza... -
ARCHIVED Maybe I Do? Maybe I Don't Have It? You All Can Have An Idea
eatmeat4good replied to blank's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Rashes could be DH, the skin form of Celiac. Wow. You are a poster child for Celiac disease and I'm not even a Dr.! I hope you get to got gluten free and that is clears your brain fog as effectively as it did mine. One thing that sounds paralell to my own story is the long years of illness. I also want you to be aware of salicylic acid sensitivity... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Hamburger Helper Concern
eatmeat4good replied to sa1937's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
velveeta cheese. Oh my god, I have forgotten about it for years, even though I grew up on it. Thanks for the reminding! -
ARCHIVED Intestinal Nerves Hearling?
eatmeat4good replied to Jeff In San Diego's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had the very same stomach and intestinal distress. It was like my stomach was waking up. It was uncomfortable and rumbling and loud and constant and started just about 3 weeks into being strictly gluten free. At first I thought I was getting glutened. Then I realized it was just my "Baby Villi" growing back. At least that is how I visualized it. There was... -
ARCHIVED Breads & Rolls
eatmeat4good replied to maximoo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My teen went gluten free 7 months ago. I thought I'd go broke buying Udi's. I wanted him to eat and feel normal. Surprised me when several weeks into it he no longer reached for the bread. It has dwindled down to nothing. We keep one loaf for a treat now and then, but it lasts us 2 months for one loaf of bread. He announced he didn't really want it anymore... -
ARCHIVED I Did A Really Dumb Thing And Drank Some Beer.. So Sick
eatmeat4good replied to asickdaddy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That sounds awful. Maybe diagnosis isn't as important as you think. It appears your body is going to remind you quite clearly if you ever ingest gluten. Mine does too. So I didn't bother with diagnosis. Had a doc tell me I should get this verified by a gastroenterologist. I said no way I'm gonna eat gluten even once, let alone weeks for a test. Sure... -
ARCHIVED New Guy Here, Any Beginners Advice
eatmeat4good replied to dacoontz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I forgot to tell you the biggest help to me in the early weeks was learning of Udi's bread. I read reviews and then did not waste any money on other kinds of bread. Lot's of people have done that experimentation for us. Udi's is good and some people say Rudi's is too, but I haven't tried that one. I used a lot of Udi's in my early weeks. Now I don't do... -
ARCHIVED New Guy Here, Any Beginners Advice
eatmeat4good replied to dacoontz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ha! yeah, no....baking with gluten free flours- It's not a direct substitution type thing. It's more like a science experiment! Read the recipe section if you think I'm kidding! Um the one exception I have found is that one can sub all purpose gluten free flour for the Nestle Toll House cookie recipe. And gluten is not eliminated by hand sanitizer... -
Yes, other grains besides wheat, barley and rye have gluten in them. It's just that Celiacs are usually not sensitive to the gluten in corn. Only those who have reactions to eating corn would need to avoid cornstarch gluten. Cornstarch is what it is usually called. Some people are sensitive to other grains and other glutens and I read that some people...

ARCHIVED New Guy Here, Any Beginners Advice
eatmeat4good replied to dacoontz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just to share some newbie mistakes I made in the first 6 months. If your wife wears lipstick...it can gluten you...she needs gluten free lipstick. I didn't believe this one. If you kiss your wife after she eats gluten you can get sick. I didn't believe this one either. It's true. Cross Contamination counts and there are thousands of ways to accidentally... -
ARCHIVED Help!
eatmeat4good replied to meme2kids's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was a very emotional and moody little girl....and teen....and young adult...and adult....I had a horrible feeling of internal angst all my life. In my 40's I started getting all sorts of other Celiac symptoms but was only diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Gluten was neurological for me...causing a horrible internal experience...much the way it sounds like your... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Pain Fron The Knees Down?
eatmeat4good replied to ruca55's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you gluten free? The first year or two I was ill I had that fatigue and leg pain. Just exactly as you describe. It went away eventually when I stopped gluten and salicylic acid. I was taking Ibuprofen to control the leg pain, and aches, and in the end learned that salicylic acid and Celiac were messing with my metabolism so much that it was causing that... -
I tried Dapsone for two weeks. The first week was great! Immediately stopped the stinging and burning rash...though the sores were still there. By the end of the second week I developed an all over body rash that was raised red bumps and it was awful and took 2 more weeks to go away. I immediately stopped the Dapsone. Ugh Yes, that minute amount can "get...

ARCHIVED Told To Reintroduce Gluten Why
eatmeat4good replied to tom tom 79's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just saw an Endocrinologist asking for testing for anything Endocrine related that might be effecting me after 7 years of long term undiagnosed Celiac. He said who diagnosed you? I said me. I described how I was literally in bed for 7 years, sores on arms, elbows, lower back and face that didn't resond to any of dozens of treatments but Do respond to being... -
ARCHIVED Dermatologist In Atlanta That Knows A Lot About Dh?
eatmeat4good replied to salexander421's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
The literature says that DH is "extremely rare in children". But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I don't think very many dermatologists are educated about DH at all...let alone DH in children. I saw three including Chiefs of Dermatology at 2 medical centers and neither one would do a biopsy. I have DH on my face. It is also "extremely rare". I hope you... -
I was divorced over food. He was tired of me being sick all the time and he and the Dr.'s decided it was in my head, so I lived in no man's land until I found Celiac.com. Since the divorce and 7 months of recovery, I have dated some, but I don't like going out to eat and that is always what they want to do. I try to tell them to go ahead and eat, I'll just...

ARCHIVED Really Need Some Input On What To Do Next
eatmeat4good replied to zebaldwin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Zack, You can do whatever you feel is best for your body. If you want to eat a gluten meal and you think gluten is not your problem you may certainly do that. We cringe when people suggest that because we know the horrors of Celiac/Gluten Intolerance and we do not wish that on you. But it is your body and your life. And gluten may not be the problem... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance And Bipolar II?
eatmeat4good replied to kathleenp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I was just reading about this condition last night. It strikes me that you said you do not respond very well to long term anti-depressant therapy and that very thing is mentioned in regards to Pyroluria. It is a vitamin deficiency condition. I'm considering it myself. I thought gluten was...
