ARCHIVED Multi-Vitamins: How Do You Know They Are Safe?
eatmeat4good replied to Katrala's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been using Nature Made for ALL my vitamins. I get sick very easily from gluten. They have never made me sick. In my experience you can be confident about using Nature Made vitamins. -
ARCHIVED Ideas Of Other Things I Need To Do...
eatmeat4good replied to RangersFan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you must have a gluten mixed kitchen, just really try to ban wheat flour. It hangs in the air and the dust lands on everything. It can make you sick by breathing it in and you will be sick cause it sticks to the mucous membranes and you then swallow it. and then the fun begins. If there is any way to ban flour you may be able to manage a mixed kitchen... -
ARCHIVED How Long For Diet
eatmeat4good replied to October3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It must vary greatly from person to person. I had to bribe my son to give me one week gluten free when I suspected that was the problem He ate a pizza after one week and became violently ill. He decided really quickly that he never wants to touch gluten again. He slept 23 hours, nausea, fog, depression, asthma and fatigue for a week afte only having been... -
That makes sense about the amine increasing in ripe bananas. I hate ripe bananas. I love them slightly greenish or all yellow, but any brown spots and I wanna throw them away. They make me feel overly full and unwell. I think they are supposed to be good for you for the potassium, but they make me sick. Starch? Sugar? I don't know. But I don't eat them anymore...

ARCHIVED Beano! No! No!
eatmeat4good replied to Looking for answers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry that happened. I read on here a long time ago beano had gluten but I never use it anyway so I didn't worry about it. Seems so silly to put wheat starch in something supposed to combat gas and bloating. I hope your reaction passes soon. Darn it. -
ARCHIVED Bad Weekend At Work
eatmeat4good replied to CruiseWriter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had the same feelings and experiences before going gluten free. You should get better and better. I will tell you that I didn't eliminate dairy and soy in the beginning since I thought gluten was bad enough to get rid of. Several months later I realized soy causes swelling inflammation and pain. Couple months after that I decided dairy had to go. It causes... -
ARCHIVED 3 Yr Old Vomiting
eatmeat4good replied to RebeccaLynn's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, it is quite possible to react with vomiting. My sister did a gluten free experiment with her children. She didn't think she saw any results on adding gluten back. But one child vomited immediately after eating a gluten filled meal. Hmm suspicious. They call it the 24 hour bug at their house...but it happens so often that I think it is gluten intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Are These Celiac-Related?
eatmeat4good replied to Marie1976's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry if I confused you. I didn't mean to. The way I understand it, a positive test is postive for Celiac no doubt about it. BUT if you test negative on blood and or biopsy then you might be in the percentage who do not test postive but still react to gluten whether it is Celiac or Gluten Intolerance. I never did the testing, except the food challenge... -
ARCHIVED Nature Made Multi-Vitamins
eatmeat4good replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is the only brand I have used for 7 months. Never ever had a reaction to them. I trust the Nature Made vitamins for myself and for my son. -
ARCHIVED Migraines. Better gluten-free? How Long gluten-free?
eatmeat4good replied to sreese68's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Migraines were almost daily for me for years. A month into gluten free, no more migraines except menstrual migraine which is actually worse now. It is actually common for menstrual migraine to get worse after going gluten free. Something about the hormones coming back or working better after gluten is eliminated. But the daily migraines are definitely gone... -
ARCHIVED Not Sure If It's Celiac, But...
eatmeat4good replied to soupmonger's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds exactly like my son. His asthma cleared up in a few weeks after going gluten free. He has had that all his life. His ecxema is going away but slowly after 6 months gluten free. That takes a while to heal. And the fatigue and depression are gone too. I never had him tested. I bribed him to go gluten free and the first time he cheated and ate pizza.... -
ARCHIVED Recommend An Online Store For gluten-free Products?
eatmeat4good replied to DesertDogs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you checked out the Gluten Free Mall here? There is also NutsOnline where I get good gluten free flours- they have a whole section of gluten free goodies, but it isn't stuff like wraps and sauces...more like fruits, nuts, chocolate and gluten free cereals and mixes of flours. But anyway they are good so I thought I would throw that out there. -
ARCHIVED Any Ways To Stop Scratching?
eatmeat4good replied to ndw3363's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
You might really need the iodine if it caused cardiac arrhymia's and landed you in the hospital. Talk to your Dr. about the iodine. Some people say that they can heal by strictly avoiding gluten and maybe you can too if you ditch the communion wafer and sub gluten free there. That much gluten can keep you activated. I used to love gardening, but now I cannot... -
ARCHIVED Do These Symptoms Sound Familiar?
eatmeat4good replied to NoodleUnit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All of your symptoms sound consistent with Gluten Intolerance/Celiac. Of course follow up with your Dr. but be aware you have to consistently eating gluten to test positive for it. Your arm nerve pain could be neuropathy related to Celiac. It would be good to go to the Dr. armed with some articles on Celiac for their consideration. Your body will throw the... -
ARCHIVED Want To Sleep 24-7
eatmeat4good replied to CruiseWriter's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, your symptoms are all the miserable symptoms of Gluten Intolerance, which is just as serious as Celiac in terms of how it destroys your life. Get off the gluten as diligently as you can. It is very important. I ballooned up to 200 lbs and cried or slept all the time. Just miserable and could sleep all evening and all night and barely functioned the next... -
ARCHIVED Fatigue..really?
eatmeat4good replied to staci002's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You will definitely have more energy as the months go by. I'm still getting better. To both of you: Take your vitamins. Malabsorption is hard on the body and you should have vitamin levels checked. I didn't at first. Then after 6 months of taking 5000 mg D a day, checked my blood and I was just inside the range or normal. Wonder what it was before? The... -
ARCHIVED Annoying Friends!
eatmeat4good replied to Victoria6102's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Congratulations for hanging in there for 7 months. Me too. Exactly 7 months. I'm sorry they are being so insensitive and rude. I agree with both comments above. It is very superficial for them to ridicule you particularly when none of this is your choice. You are not exaggerating to say your body will destroy itself...I use that line myself! It does destroy... -
ARCHIVED Fatigue..really?
eatmeat4good replied to staci002's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I literally slept for 7 years....I could not think at all...I was tired, asleep, or in the bathroom. That's it. Yes, fatigue can go away. Before that I functioned all day every day...then I became the patient with "two heads" as you say. No one knew what was wrong. 7 months "clear of gluten" and I have no more fatigue. You know your body best... -
ARCHIVED Are These Celiac-Related?
eatmeat4good replied to Marie1976's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, that very well could be. The eye twitching would be neurological...so you could have symptoms in all three categories...watch for clumsiness, anxiety, depression, and be aware they can be Celiac too. And if you don't test positive..just remember gluten intolerance is just as serious. I wouldn't want you to miss getting relief from being gluten free just... -
ARCHIVED Are These Celiac-Related?
eatmeat4good replied to Marie1976's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, you can have gastrointestinal and DH if you have Celiac. I have all 3: Gastrointestinal, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, and Neurological problems if I get any gluten. The skin sores take the longest to resolve. -
ARCHIVED Any Ways To Stop Scratching?
eatmeat4good replied to ndw3363's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
DH is triggered by both Iodine and Gluten. It can also be activated by the Sun and Stress. At least mine is. In the archives of the DH section several people say the same thing. Iodine will keep the antibodies active if you have DH. Once gluten is eliminated entirely and iodine is minimized the sores should clear up. Then you can have iodine again in the... -
That is a wonderful story. She probably saw all they symptoms in herself too. I love that. "A little bit of the Celiac." She sounds precious.
-
Peanut M&M's and Fruity Pebbles have food coloring in common. If you are sensitive to food coloring you could have a skin reaction particularly if you have DH. Salicylates, Benzoates and Tartrazine can all cause skin reactions. I thought I could handle salicylates again, but ate M&M's this week and drank a diet coke and have 7 new lesions. Maybe from...

Oh, I'm so sorry you can't eat all that good food. I have been there and it is no fun. Sorry, I'm not the psychic about why or how one gets glutened. Sounds like you are super careful. Maybe it isn't gluten but inability to digest those foods?? Just thinkin out loud.

ARCHIVED What To Do For Dh Of The Scalp?
eatmeat4good replied to kdprouty's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I would use Bactine Spray...it has benzocaine which helps take the sting out, but only for a little while. I hope it gets better and you heal fast.
