eatmeat4good replied to IrishHeart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for sharing everything you learn. We will make Dr.'s out of them yet. Or we will get healthy in spite of them...keep reading IrishHeart!! Can't wait to see what yer gonna do when yer really well! There will be no stopping you! -
Dairy, then soy, then eggs, then nightshades, then fructose, then other grains. It could be anything but dairy and soy are your most likely culprits if it is a secondary intolerance. Hang in there, I know it is miserable and I hope it ends soon.

eatmeat4good replied to idonteatwheat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I would like to say.... Our Kharma ran over his Dogma! And given HIS stance, maybe Dr. Oz can hire him as his personal Chef!! -
ARCHIVED Is It Celiac?
eatmeat4good replied to arabookworm's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If it is Celiac and you are not eating gluten, you are not likely to test positive by blood or biopsy. The endoscopy should be done while you are eating gluten. Your Dr. said to try going gluten free to see if it helped your symptoms? Has it helped? If it has then you are likely Celiac or Gluten Intolerant. But if you want a positive test to prove it then... -
ARCHIVED Schizo Show
eatmeat4good replied to bridgeofsighs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is perfect Cass! I think that should do the trick for educating Dr.'s about the gluten/schizophrenia connection. Thanks for the resource too! -
ARCHIVED Can't Sleep Enough
eatmeat4good replied to waterlily-'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You say you are now eating "mostly gluten free" but if you are getting any gluten at all the effect could be the sleepy drowsy disturbed sleep that you are experiencing. You need to get rid of all gluten if you want your sleep to improve. It sounds more like gluten is getting you than vitamin deficiencies. Vivid dreams and nightmares and night terrors... -
ARCHIVED Supplements For Teens
eatmeat4good replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh, I forgot to address that part. I use the one for adults, and I have been giving my son adult dose vitamins since he was 10. I haven't seen a Nature Made formula specifically for teens but there may be one. I checked with the Dr. and the pharmacist and both thought the adult dose was fine as long as he could swallow the pills. Since your daughter is 1... -
ARCHIVED Fairly New To Gluten Free
eatmeat4good replied to lttlems-sunshine's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello and welcome! Well, you ARE Little Miss Sunshine aren't you? That is the sunniest introduction I have ever read. I'm so glad you found that eating gluten free works for you and you have the support that you need. It is refreshing to read your words. I have a hard time not focusing on the "lost years" so I'm going to take a dash of your spirit from... -
ARCHIVED Problem Going gluten-free
eatmeat4good replied to JSegura226's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi and welcome! It's a good thing that you figured out the intolerances to milk and eggs since that is very common. It took me a while to figure those two out for myself. As to what you should be eating, I would stick with lean protein like chicken breasts and really any meat or seafood that you enjoy or tolerate. Avoid frying in oil as that will be hard... -
ARCHIVED Salsa, Vinegar
eatmeat4good replied to dube's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Or nightshades...tomato, and peppers are in the nightshade family. It could be temporary. -
ARCHIVED Schizo Show
eatmeat4good replied to bridgeofsighs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, gluten can cause neurological problems and schizophrenic-like symptoms. Open Original Shared Link All of the things you list in your post are good suggestions to try. There are many variations of the same diet...something like Paleo or SCD can help you sort out your reactions to other foods and fructose. Also consider soy- it can cause some... -
ARCHIVED Burning Above Belly Button?
eatmeat4good replied to element192's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What about Soy? Have you considered this as a secondary intolerance you may have? It is very common. Also, yes, stomach pain can be intermittent while you are healing. I would eliminate vegetable oil and any soy exposure and see if it helps. -
ARCHIVED Going To A Coffeehouse For The First Time Since Gluten Free
eatmeat4good replied to Pamela B.'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Sometimes the flavorings added to coffee drinks contain gluten. Just ask and maybe choose what you will have ahead of time. Good idea to call them and ask about ingredients in your favorite items. If in doubt, order plain. -
ARCHIVED Supplements For Teens
eatmeat4good replied to Juliebove's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have the same problem with my teenage son. He just doesn't want to take the vitamins. I have started connecting it to things he wants to do. Wanna go to the movies this weekend? Give me a weeks worth of taking your vitamins without complaining. Want a $50 pay per view UFC fight and have your friends over? That better be worth a month of taking your vitamins... -
Your regular Dr. can test your vitamin levels. Celiacs are often deficient in the fat soluble vitamins A,E,D,K but there are others like calcium, magnesium, zinc, and iron, and the B vitamins especially B 12 and folic acid. You can do a follow up blood panel to be sure your antibodies are down. Not everyone does this but some do. The longer your are...

ARCHIVED Water Retention
eatmeat4good replied to fattycat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You might be right about the protein absorption problem. Since your Dr. is done with testing you, you need to find and Endocrinologist who will test you for Hashimotos and Graves..there are more specific tests than for just TSH. TSH can look normal even if you have Hashimoto or Graves. What do you think about seeing a Nephrologist (kidney Dr.). Since your... -
ARCHIVED Lactose Free Also?
eatmeat4good replied to ThePurlQueen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had this question myself but since you have already posed the question, I will just include my situation to bump your post and see if we can get an answer. My teenage son has been gluten free for 5 months. I suspect dairy is effecting him badly as he still has D but he believes it is OK to eat dairy because he loves cheese and he is willing to put up... -
ARCHIVED I Think My Sister Has A Gluten Sensitivity
eatmeat4good replied to WinterSong's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A pastry chef would be continuously exposed to gluten in the air landing in the nose and mouth from breathing and ending up in her stomach. That is the worst profession for a Celiac. Oh my! I know you know that by your post, but I was just considering that situation for a moment and felt overwhelmed by the CC issues before her. Yes, there are false negatives... -
ARCHIVED Too Many Veggies?
eatmeat4good replied to AmyNColorado's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I couldn't handle vegetables or salads for about 6 weeks when I started gluten free. I read that this is very common and the suggestion was to cook and even puree vegetables so they are easier to digest. I only had to do that for a few weeks, but it saved me so much grief from raw vegetables and salads. -
ARCHIVED CVS Products/customer Service
eatmeat4good replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am now a CVS fan too. I needed a medication the other day. I told the pharmacist I didn't want to buy it unless it was gluten free. She stood there and searched and called for 10 minutes until she was sure it was gluten free!! I was so happy, I thanked her profusely. I always used another discount pharmacy, but the pharmacist there was so unhelpful.... -
ARCHIVED Weight Loss
eatmeat4good replied to sbloom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was always around 120 but there were episodes in my life where I ballooned up to 180 lbs and always with severe depression, anxiety, headaches and it would last for a year or two. This has happened 4 times in my life and now I know it was related to gluten. 6 months ago I went gluten free. I started dropping weight right away and have continued to lose... -
ARCHIVED Kidney Stones Linked To Celiac Disease?
eatmeat4good replied to keithceliac2010's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is very interesting. I have a friend who is wondering the same thing...could kidney stones be caused by gluten? And the calcium malabsorption idea is very interesting too. Thank you both for your posts. I will be watching this topic to see if you get more answers. -
Had daily migraine headaches for years and years. Sometimes unable to get out of bed 2 or 3 days. Gluten free 6 months...now I only get a migraine with my menstrual cycle.
