My son has a teacher who has Celiac or gluten intolerance. She is very open about it. THe kids are very interested and it helped us because they were actually aware then when my son started being gluten free. Also the girl I order from at the Outback said her teacher tells the class about what gluten does to her and other people who are gluten intolerant...

ARCHIVED celiac disease And Attention Deficit Disorder
eatmeat4good replied to Luisa2552's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sorry I missed your post. I'm so glad you tried the gluten free. My son was ADD and that was his only symptom besides asthma and I didn't know gluten could do that. Both went away but until he had lived with them from 7 to age 16. If I had only known! Thank you for posting how she is doing. I think it is wonderful and hope your story helps others... -
They say children heal the fastest and adults can take 6 months to 2 years to fully heal. It takes a while.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free For A Few Days And Not Feeling Great
eatmeat4good replied to xxkristin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It is very normal. Many people have the extreme hunger and it is like your body is trying to make up for the malnutrition. I don't know how long it lasts, but mine took a few weeks to settle down. Hope you feel better soon. For now, eat as much as you like and can tolerate. Mostly whole foods, not packaged foods. The healing will take a while, but it should... -
I don't know the answer but have been wondering some things about eggs too. I absolutely cannot handle them. I love them and ate them almost every day, but now that I remember my sickest days with this disease it was defintely the days I was eating bread and eggs every day because I was sick and not working and it was cheap. Now, I cannot handle them at...

eatmeat4good replied to Lilith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome! Your post was very interesting to me. I used to have protein in my urine and many symptoms of cystitis infection without bacteria in my urine. So it is interesting to read about the IgA and the kidneys. I have been gluten free for 5 months and have noticed much improvement. I went gluten free due to dermatiits herpetiformis. But it has improved many... -
ARCHIVED Suffering From Recent Celiac Diagnosis
eatmeat4good replied to Love4Bread's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi and welcome! I love all the information you have been given and I cannot really add to what the first responder gave you except to say that Lentils are great! If you haven't been eating them, they are a good source of protein and yummy. I make them very simply, just a quart of chicken stock and a 1 lb bag of lentils- boil 20 to 30 minutes and they are... -

ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis
eatmeat4good replied to vegan lisa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know how you find a knowledgeable dermatologist. I made appts with the chief of dermatology at 2 medical universities. Waited months for the appointments, drove hours, thought was seeing experts, explained my rash and was examined. Dismissed without a biopsy. I was given the same ole medications any regular Dr. would have given me for acne. They... -

ARCHIVED Help A Gluten Free Preschool Teacher
eatmeat4good replied to iamsarar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I taught preschool ages ago. We used rice in the sensory table. Could you replace the oatmeal with rice? It worked beautifully plus it can be colored with food coloring. We made multicolored rice, and the children would learn their colors from that too. You could also use dried lentils or beans in the sensory table. Texture and pouring are what it is all... -
ARCHIVED How Long Did It Take Before You Started Reacting To Being Glutened
eatmeat4good replied to zus888's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know within 24 hours of being accidentally glutened. I get depressed, spacey, foggy, angry, tired, headache, strangely no stomach problems, but terrible mood problems and a migraine headache that lasts about 3 days. Some people don't have symptoms or can't tell that they do. My son was only gluten free for 4 days and then challenged it and he immediately... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Making Me Uproot Myself
eatmeat4good replied to LivesIntheSun's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you love your life and really want to stay there, is there any way to have gluten free coffee, tea, flour etc. sent to you? Then you could just eat meat, fruit and vegetables that are naturally gluten free and you won't destroy your health. Even if it is expensive, it would be worth it to keep your health and your job you love and your good friends... -

Thanks for the link and thanks for starting the Another Bread Question thread. It got me motivated to try things. -
The Dr. probably won't know about it. They are online though. And a lot of people here have used them for food sensitivities and gluten intolerance. They can test for several things. Good luck

ARCHIVED Nuts...
eatmeat4good replied to dmeagan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would like to be able to say all nuts and seeds should be safe and they are gluten free. However, some people react to nuts in packages or bulk. The theory is cross contamination with wheat products. Planters has never given me trouble and they label well. Do read the labels though. I also buy Nuts at NutsOnline.com. They also have certified gluten... -

ARCHIVED Is My Job Making Me Sick?
eatmeat4good replied to healinginprogress's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On the handwashing? Um yeah, it has to be soap and water. I handed a cookie to my sister's child and then used sanitizer and sat down to eat my "safe" food next to her. I was sick for a week. Then PSawyer set me straight on the hand sanitizer not working. It takes just particles to make ya sick. I feel for you. On a lighter note, yeah, you will be getting... -
ARCHIVED Test Diet For Gluten Free?
eatmeat4good replied to Nen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is called an elimination diet and you can eat all meats, poultry, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds. This is a whole foods diet and very healthy. You can eat rice and gluten free grains, and use gluten free products if you tolerate them and just want to eliminate gluten. Also dairy would be ok if you are not sensitive to it. A lot of Celiacs have difficulty...
