  1. Maybe you are having IgA reactions not IgG. Autoimmune are IgA reactions? Not allergic to gluten, but sensitive to it? The reactions are just as severe as I understand it.
  2. Also, you might want to look up lectins. Some people can't eat beans because of them. Meat, vegetables, low fructose fruits, nuts. Then if that doesn't help you might have to cut low fructose fruits. I can't eat any more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup once in a while. Have you looked at nightshade? Eggs? Sounds like another food intolerance if patience and vigilance...
  3. I don't eat "mini" anything since I read of companies using what they call "run off" chocolate which has been previously poured over other candy. Seems to be more a problem with mini sized candy from what I have read. Not gonna test that theory myself since every once in a while I see a post like yours where something supposedly gluten free made someone ill...
  4. I lost from 180 to 115 in 5 months. The first two months I think my insides were healing and my metabolism was really slow. I was extremely swollen and had face swelling and puffy eyes. It was probably a good 6 weeks to 2 months before my body felt it was "safe enough" to burn off the extra weight. My weight then melted off. Without trying. I think...
  5. Happy Birthday Irish DaveyBoy- Your recipes were one of the first I read on here and that made me know this life was possible. Thank you and hope you enjoy your Birthday..chocolate cake or not!
  6. Mine took a couple of months off and on to completely clear up. I kept thinking I was getting cross contaminated so I went to just meats, veg and fruit, and nuts. Still I think it just takes time for the intestines to heal for some people.
  7. Yes, yes...take him off gluten! Well, you knew I would say that! I don't have KP, but I have read posts in the past on here from people who had it and for some being gluten free cleared it up. Do a search on KP and you should be able to access those posts. The fatigue and being flat out on the couch after eating pizza, are what I noticed before...
  8. I don't know anything about the agent orange connection. I will google that when I have some time. Don't feel guilty at all for what you didn't know. I kept myself and my son sick for 7 years never making the connection that it was gluten all along. I struggled with guilt too. I just try to be really grateful for the days of wellness ahead. And for feeling...
  9. Congratulations!! That is wonderful to hear! I can't wait til I'm at one year too! Hope your second year brings you double the health and healing!!
  10. I'm so sorry that medical appointment was worthless. Your son had a similar reaction to my son in mood disruption and behavior problems and stomach aches. I wouldn't have been able to keep him on it without the reactions. But each and every time there has been a mistake or challenge he gets really sick. Sorry you didn't get help with gluten free foods...
  11. Call your Dr. and ask them to phone in a prescription for an Epipen since you will be travelling and have allergies. Mine did it without an appointment. Just ask, you might get it. Better safe than sorry. Can't imagine a reason a Dr. would say no. My allergies weren't even confirmed by testing. I just told the Dr. I had a new allergy and was worried. Good...
  12. I don't have the energy to be into all of the alternative therapies, but others might help you with that. I want to tell you some simple ones that help me. I took Dapsone for two weeks and had a horrible reaction so I had to stop. Since then, I got really strict about the iodine avoidance, but as others point out that is to be temporary as...
  13. Start tomorrow! I agree with the guy who said "Good Lord, what are you waiting for? We want you to feel better. Pretty sure you will!
  14. The symptom of lethargy and tiredness and difficulty waking is consistent with the opiod effect of gluten. My son is 16 and within a week of gluten free he was easy to wake up, but it had been torture since he was 9 to wake him. I, too, had the sluggish sleepiness in addition to a bunch of other symptoms. In two weeks of gluten leaving this house, the...
  15. I haven't used any of the cold medicines so I can't help you with that. I can relate to the dermatologists burning off your face and calling it acne. Me too. It sucked for years. I'm gluten free, with DH, and healing slowly, but all the sores that were subcutaneous like acne have gone away. The sores that are left are very sensitive to iodine which...
  16. I drink regular coffee with caffeine. I hope I never have to stop. Folgers medium roast for regular days. Gevalia when I want something good. I keep both, but only drink plain, not flavored coffees.
  17. Mine got way lighter, and cramping almost disappeared. Strange- what gluten can do to your body. Wonderful-what going gluten free does to your body. Enjoy! I hope it lasts too!
  18. Cass, Sorry I missed this post until today. To answer your question, there is no itching at all. It is a stinging, burning sensation in the sores on my face. As if thousands of hot needles are sticking me in each sore.
  19. You are very smart to look at the possibility of gluten. Your list of symptoms just as you described here should cause the Dr. to think about testing you for Celiac. But if it doesn't, you can ask for a full Celiac panel after you give them the list of symptoms. Unfortunately, it is a crap shoot if you will get a Dr. who knows about Celiac or not...
  20. I'm jealous. I wear double wool socks in the summer. No fair!
  21. I don't understand the testing. I thought like you that any postive is positive. I just want to encourage you on the note of the UTI infections. I had chronic UTI and bladder spasms for years prior to going gluten free. 5 months into this gluten free, and I have not had one. It IS related to gluten in my opinion. Just wanted you to know...
  22. Yes, aloe and the teas you described are said to help the stomach. I also used promthazine by prescription for nausea with no negative side effects. If your nausea is bothering you, you might try asking for a prescription to see if it helps. People also use crystallized ginger and say it helps their stomach. I'm really rooting for you and I can...
  23. Wow, that is interesting. In Celiacs with DH, Iodine plus Gluten equals DH rash. But you never had DH before. Hmmm, maybe the antibodies were building in your skin and you were gonna get DH if you had stayed on gluten any longer, but you went gluten free. The antibodies can stay in your skin up to 10 years. Then your seaweed iodine...
  24. Rib cage pain Depression Anxiety Bone pain Headaches All this and more have disappeared on going gluten free. I hope you feel better soon. Welcome!
  25. Wow Running Girl, That is very interesting. I know if you are gluten free, the tests can be negative just like intestinal biopsy, but I don't know if 2 weeks is enough to make you test negative. I think some people have DH and do not test positive for it on any of the tests. Just to keep in mind as you go through your testing. It complicates things...
