  1. So then everything you read on the Internet isn't true???!
  2. I wonder if I should email them at that site and let them know...
  3. Thanks everyone. This is the site where it says yeast extract contains barley: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Hello all, I was just at the Yes! Natural food store here in DC, and on the counter they were sampling some Indiana Popcorn Chip Ins (cheddar flavor). They did indeed look delicious. I was curious since I hadn't heard of the brand before. I noticed on the front they say they're gluten free. But I turn the bag around and yeast extract is an ingredient....
  5. If I got a response like that, I'd eat the product.
  6. 14 days is not very long, but you've nevertheless experienced some benefits. As for the soft stools, I'd say wait a bit more. The important thing, it would seem to me, is that the diarrhea has stopped. Mine did too, and I was so grateful. Things to watch out for might be to go easy on the milk products, as you are doing with the soy and sugar, which are excellent...
  7. See your physician, and on this forum read read read, and take people's advice, and get the most complete panel recommended. INSIST ON IT with your physician, as he/she may try to downplay it, if unfamiliar or unexposed to Celiac. Insist on it. Do research, read, and then write it down and take it into your physician and insist on that specific test being...

    ARCHIVED Amtrak

RESPONSE RECEIVED JUST NOW FROM AMTRAK (gee thanks Amtrak!) Thank you for contacting us. Amtrak does not offer meals specifically designated as "low fat", "low cholesterol", "low sodium", "gluten free", "wheat free" or "peanut free". Most dinner entrees are not prepared on the dining car. The fat, cholesterol, sodium, gluten, wheat and peanut content...

    ARCHIVED Amtrak

Believe me, I did plenty of research and there's no such thing offered. That is what the man cooking to me to do too (order a gluten-free meal). I might be traveling again soon, so maybe I should email them to find out for sure.
  10. I too use Kiss My Face (olive or olive oil) soap for body and hands. For high end cleanser, Peter Thomas Roth is gluten-free. They sent me a whole list of their other gluten-free products. A lot of Yonka is gluten-free. Creme 11 for example. And their Optimizer. I also use Shikai body and face moisturizer, although the latter can smell disconcertingly...
  11. I'll answer. I have bunions and though bunions are, I guess, ... bunions, it's hard for me to conceive of them independently of arthritis. I'm not a doctor, but there seems to be some similarity. Who knows. Bunion pain was bad up until August or September - I went gluten-free, not CF though, in May of this year. Since then, knock on wood, it's subsided...

    ARCHIVED Amtrak

I just arrived traveling 18 hours south from DC on Amtrak. I had a long conversation with the chef and for dinner last night, I determined the only thing I could have was a baked potato and a side salad. I was going to have a steak - not bad! - but I could not. The reason? The chef cooks the steak on the same griddle he cooks breaded meats and in particular...
  13. Thanks Peter. But wouldn't *raw* Spanish peanuts be ok?
  14. That's what I ended up thinking: "well, I guess I'll just have to buy them in the shell." But there are other places, I think, that sell shell gluten-free nuts. In DC, Harris Teeter for instance sells Spanish peanuts raw. I then roast them at home using my own spices. Delicious.
  15. I went to Whole Foods yesterday, and it now appears I will have to add yet another store to my food-buying rotation because I could not find any nuts that were without a doubt gluten free. All the 365 brands (and if there are other brands besides that one, I did not see them) say "processed in a facility that also processes wheat," among other things. ...
  16. I read a recipe for King Arthur chocolate cookies yesterday, so today I went to the small health food store, but all they had was Bob's. I've bought it, somewhat against my better judgment, but haven't opened it yet. The pancake I got of Bob's was just so-so. I'm not overly impressed. Has anyone tried Bob's all purpose flour? Should I try it or return it...
  17. Thanks! I would have contacted the company, but I'm in desperate need now, and it's Sunday. So before I opened the package, just thought I'd check with anyone here. Thank you very much.
  18. Hi Everyone, Does anyone know if Weleda pomegranate regenerating hand cream is gluten free? Thanks!
  19. It's ok to be graphic, going to the BR is part and parcel of this disorder. But you did not say whether you are having D or BMs. For me, I do have 2 or sometimes three BMs in the a.m. (partly depends on how much I ate for dinner the previous night, naturally). It's a little irksome, but it's better than the D I used to have. I would second everyone's advice...
  20. But I've also heard that you might have to give up things - eg soy, milk, etc - when first going gluten-free and then you can reintroduce it after you've healed.
  21. Yes, at three months, I was still experiencing some symptoms. It will abate, provided you stay gluten-free.
  22. Gluten free since May 2010. Celiac symptoms were not nearly as bad as others' I've read on here. Endoscopy revealed moderate villi damage (late April). Used to have bad joint pain in my bunions, but it's improved a bit. PMS symptoms used to be very bad too, but slowly improving every month. I still get emotional and react intensely sometimes. I am not...
  23. Can you share with us which magnesium supplement you take (that is gluten-free)? Thanks.
  24. I would love to know what specifically are the dangers or issues of too much B12. If someone has a site to point me to, I would appreciate it. My D reading at my last blood test on Oct 28 was 18.9, just a tad bit higher than it was about five months earlier right when I was diagnosed. I've been gluten-free (hopefully) for now about 7.5 months. And at...
  25. Can you tell us more about The Incurables? Is there a web site? How can we access the particular program you reference? Thanks.
