  1. MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!!! (I know, terrible.....)
  2. This describes my husband. 2 years before being dx with celiac disease he was dx with Psoriatic Arthritis - this was the first sign something was amiss with his immune system. Shortly after the arthritis dx his gut symptoms kicked in. I'm convinced that had he been gluten-free back then the arthritis wouldn't have happened.
  3. Belated celebrations on your 1000 page!!!! Isn't it??..and yours Patti too!! Beautiful dresses!! I am so enjoying these pics!!
  4. Drat!! It's not sold in the UK Hmmm, 2 coeliacs and 2 bathrooms in my house...maybe they should have their own alotted loo!!!
  5. Had your son been gluten-free for any length of time prior to the blood test?? If so this would be why he got a negative result as you are supposed to be on a high gluten diet for at least 6 weeks before any tests
  6. Peanuts, cashews (yum!) or some seeds hemp, pumpkin - these are all high in fat.
  7. I would say my hubby only really had symptoms of celiac disease 2 yrs prior to his diagnosis and celiac disease can be 'triggered' anytime in life. However, although my hubby only had symptoms for the 2yrs prior to his dx , I would say he's had celiac disease for a long time. He has alway's been super skinny and completely unable to put on weight no matter...
  8. T-bird, I'm sorry you're both going through this. It sounds quite similar as to what happened to my hubby (he was also 40 yrs at the time) My hubby was admitted and the docs thought it was ulcers - then questioned him about his tattoos (hepatitis?) had ct scans of his abdomen etc.etc (about every test known to man!). His bloods for celiac disease...
  9. Well if that cat isn't the MOST ADORABLE !!! I want one just like Nora (don't have a piano but I'm sure I could teach it to play some other musical instrument )
  10. Pinch, punch, first day of the month!!!!!! ...almost forgot !!!- (it's 9.20pm here )
  11. Hi Lucy and welcome!! I'm in the UK (London) and my hubby and son have celiac disease. I know my hubby found it very overwhelming at first but it truly does get easier with time. Have you joined Coeliac UK yet?? (their 'handbook' listing safe foods is very helpful) Now that my hubby has been gluten-free for nearly 3 yrs, I can see that in...
  12. There's 2 of us
  13. Well damned if I can find any batch # or best Before on my box or bag. Better let 'the gluten eaters' have it. The hunt is on for another cereal that coeliac son likes
  14. I can't top gfp's response for info -but as he says it really is down to how good your gp is. It might be a worth a try asking him about vit injections (but I'm not confident ) Even though my hubby was 'properly' diagnosed with celiac disease he couldn't get any docs to take on board what we felt was peripheral neuropathy The good news is after...
  15. ''Well blow me if I didn't need glasses'' = ''Well I never!! I needed glasses'' or (in the most Americanized way I can think) ''Who knew!?! I need glasses!!!'' CARLA!!!! Superb hair colour!!
  16. Interupting again, BUT....only Susan could come out with a sentence like that!!!!!!!! (and what is a YURT??) OOopps, yes, I can see that sentence might have a certain 'double entendre' about it ..and oh my , the avatars just get better & better!!!! Horses and tutus and Donna has WHEELS for feet !!
  17. Hi Molly!! Sorry to hear about your stomach ulcers (ouch ) Hope all your school tests go ok It's good to hear from you!!
  18. Hee-hee - glad you approve!! Now, she has my sympathies as *I* cannot wear flip flops either (not that I've got webbed toes though!) My feet are so skinny (wish my hips were ) and my toes are really long (ok,they are like fingers!! ) that I just can't wear them---I end up with blisters between my toes. How annoying ...I am bummed...
  19. Well now Patti - I guess we've gone to the dark side (oh, and look at them curls in your avatar! - nearly as curly as me!!!)
  20. OMG!! - my Dad used to say this to me - drove me mad!!
  21. Were your blood tests positive?? To gain a 'formal' diagnosis of coeliac disease (in the UK) it's usually only accepted after positive biopsies. If you are waiting for an endoscopy appointment it's ESSENTIAL you continue to eat gluten. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!! If you go gluten-free now you will end up with a false negative on your biopsies...
  22. .....I shouldn't even be reading this thread as I am a series behind in the UK ....BUT!!!!..... ..Now that can't be right, surely???!? ...AND... George has a wife??? Ok, carry on.......
  23. Thanks for the EWWW moment Bev Love the new avatar!!! (so cute) <----Here I am making a spectacle of myself (*snort*) I thought I'd get my eyes tested as I was taking the kids - and blow me if I don't need glasses!!!! ...but at least I can read without my nose touching the monitor now!!! LOL!!...OH I KNOW....the agony!!! ...
  24. Hello and welcome!! I'm in the UK (London) and my hubby and son have coeliac disease. I'm sorry you are finding going gluten-free so difficult It is quite daunting at first and I know my hubby really struggled in the beginning - but it really does get easier with time, almost second nature even. Do you have a Tesco and Sainsbury's near...
