  1. My hubby would like to wear the socks with sandals (for comfort he says) but I FORBID IT!!!!!!
  2. The reduction of folds comes with villous atrophy. Once established on the gluten-free diet they will come back (along with the villi) You're right in saying the villi can only be seen under the microscope
  3. My hubby was seriously underweight at the time of dx (7 and a half st ) and had to have the build up drinks. He's been gluten-free now for 2and a half yrs now and I would say it took him 18months to get back to a healthy weight. He's still on the 'slim' side and looses any weight really easy. It is something he has to keep making an effort at (trying...
  4. Loss of duodenum folds is indicative of celiac disease and quite common in untreated celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link site is quite interesting! Ultimately though you will have to wait until they've looked at your biopsies under the microscope for the 'official' dx of celiac disease.

  11. You are indeed special Jerry - and this means you can now add some witty comment underneath your avatar!! When I was down to a 1/4 tablet (and found it too hard to make it any smaller without it disintergrating into dust) I took it every other day - then every 2 days ...etc....

  15. There is that (male 'denial!) but I also think that as a rule women on the whole are more susceptable to autoimmune diseases. Maybe they have more 'triggers' (child birth - hormones- stress etc) or maybe women are just more able to recognise symptoms and are more 'in tune' with their bodies Having said that - the 2 coeliacs in my house are male!...
  16. Good Luck Jerry - you are nearly there Finally got myself off of my AD after 6 yrs (Ha!! - yes 6 yrs!) ...but found I HAD to do it slowly. I tried to do cold turkey and that had some pretty nasty ''panic attack - can't breath'' type effects ...so done it VERY slow (half a tab, then a quarter, then a quarter every other day ..etc...).....got there...
  17. Nice one Lynne thankyou!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The mother of a problem child was advised by a psychiatrist, "You are far too upset and worried about your son. 19. Lisa, you will have to tell us precisely what part your daughter's in so we can nonchalantely say ....''Oh yeah,...that's Lisa's daughter - know the family really well '' ...which are of course VERY important qualities.... He is cute though
  20. As I said in my post above my hubby has 'seronegative celiac disease'. My son had symptoms all his life - but his first round of bloods were neg. When repeated a year later they became high positive without any real change in symptoms - obviously he went on to have positive biopsies. Incidentally (and it was in a London hosp) 20 biopsy samples were taken...
  21. Unfortunately it would have to be through biopsies taken from the small bowel. I'm stumped why your docs didn't take biopsies of your small bowel when they were in there the first time!! (..but then again... ) Oh...and for the record - you DO NOT need a positive blood result to have celiac disease. My husband had neg bloods but villous atrophy was...
