  1. If you find one of those, you have hit the jackpot.
  2. True, true! And since I do not undulge in heavy petting with anyone but my gluten-free hubs, I cannot say whether it would affect me or not. ( I, personally, would never bake with wheat flour for someone else in my kitchen ever again. (not after what I've been through) With all we know about CC, I am surprised any celiac would, but to each his...
  3. In this list of diseases and disorders associated with celiac disease, ITP is indeed listed---look under blood disorders. Just FYI. Open Original Shared Link
  4. In my humble opinion, discussing the fact that you have celiac should be approached almost right away with a new person in your life and with a sense of humor. (It's not like you have leprosy or a communicable disease that may turn him off.) But, flat out, a kiss from someone who has consumed gluten? well, let's get real here---if it involves swapping...
  5. Hon, yes.....some of your symptoms are very suggestive of Celiac or non-celiac gluten intolerance. MS is very difficult to DX. It took my dear friend, Suze 2 years to get a firm DX. Celiac is called the "great mimic" because it has symptoms that are very much like other AI diseases. They overlap and so, it is essential that you get a proper diagnosis...
  6. Hon, you are in in the "right zone" for stools.... okay? A brown (light, tan or even dark), formed stool..... is gorgeous! Try to stop worrying so much!! Many people on here here would be THRILLED with such a fabulous BM.
  7. Unless your stool is black (means blood) or white (means liver disease or lack of bile) you are probably fine. Normal? daily? not difficult to pass? That's what I call the "trifecta!" You're in better shape than half the people on this board. As Karen suggests, could be food dyes , too much spinach or the iron tabs. When I eat RED beets, you should...
  8. I missed this one a few days ago, but had to say, belatedly.... K, I think M is the sweetest kid for being so thoughtful of his Mom. You "did good", mama.
  9. You are not abnormal. We're not abnormal. Ever think THEY are the abnormal ones?? (I do  ) We get it.
  10. Squirmy, My GI doctor does the following tests every 3 -4 months as part of my follow-up care: CMP CBC Sed Rate C-reactive protein Ferritin storage level TSH Free T3, T4 FOLATE (mine was tanked at DX)**make sure she runs that one--it is often overlooked and causes various symptoms for celiacs. Vit B-12 (ditto) Vit D (double ditto) Vitamin...
  11. Could not agree more with the "everyone heals at their own pace" thought!! (I say that so often on here, I must sound like a broken record) And I also agree that everyone needs to find what works to get relief. My biggest concern is for people to become overly-dependent on chemical stimulants because that can/will happen. (it's fine for occasional...
  12. Actually, the corn is grown for their dairy cows, not for people. These are dairy farmers around here (I'm in NY). I feel bad for them because they struggle already and without the rain, it's just going to make it worse.
  13. "Cooled down" to 90 yesterday, but the evenings are "cool enough" at 75. But if we do not get some rain soon, the apple orchards will be in trouble, (again--same as last year) and the local corn crops are looking shabby. I feel bad for the local farmers.
  14. FANTASTIC, kiddo!! ENJOY it!!
  15. You will see many positive changes, Lewiss. Just keep at it. Healing takes time. Baby steps are still steps forward, right? Most of the folks on here suffered those same symptoms, too. ....oh, and welcome to the Forum. But just so we do not veer too far off the original poster's questions and to stay on the topic, (because who doesn't like a good...
  16. Firm is good. Easily passing is good. Daily is good You've hit the trifecta! If you are concerned about the undigested food, I'll tell you it happened to me since I can recall--my entire life. And now, it does not. Give your gut some time to heal, hon. It's only been a few weeks. You have 20- 22 feet of intestines. I am telling...
  17. Floating stools is not always about malabsorption. Sometimes it is because of all the fiber you ingest. Carrots, cranberries, trail mix, rice---all high fiber foods. Hon, I do not think the color of your stools is alarming at all. I think it is NORMAL. I've done a mountain of research on the GI tract ( poopology is a second major for me ) and...
  18. SWEEEEET. I'm trying STUFFED PEPPERS in the Slow cooker today. I'm so happy you guys told me to break that thing out of the box it sat in for 4 years!! It's too dang hot and hubs will be gone all day golfing (nuthead). Whatever time he drags himself home, they will be ready.
  19. You're in the states now right? Want me to mail you a few jars? You know I'll do it.
  20. Somewhere around 3,000-5,000 mgs should be a moving experience indeed. (but as Meatie suggests, back off it or you'll be going and going and going) Also, a big dose of magnesium (about 750 mgs) at bedtime will also "provoke" a response. To the OP: The thing is, all of these suggestions we are offering will work--one time---but for sustained "normal...
  21. Oh boy, there's nothing like them! My French-Canadian Gramma's family who immigrated to Boston and my Irish immigrant great-grandmother BOTH had an amazing baked bean recipe that takes all day long to slowly cook in an authentic baked bean pot. They fed their big families for days with those beans. My Mom recalls eating baked bean sammies on sweet...
  22. Shroomster, Alex turned me on to Hellman's Canola oil mayo. I was skeptical (as I did not care for the Spectrum mayo) but I have to say, it's the "real deal". And I thanked her profusely.
  23. Are you Newly diagnosed? Do you take digestive enzymes? probiotics? These will help. Ditch the oatmeal. Even if it's certified gluten-free. Celiacs have a tough time digesting it until their guts are healed. Could be 1-2 years for that to happen. Dairy could be backing you up. (cheese, in particular, if you are intolerant of that right now) Are...
