  1. This is great! thanks for sharing it. and I laughed my butt off because your dancing penguin kept perfect time with the music !!! ( I told you, I am easily amused)
  2. Earlier, I phailed to mention the irony of it... PUTIN on the Ritz? and that Irving Berlin was actually born in Belarus?
  3. Your symptoms shout gluten intolerance to me. Get tested, please. Tell your doctor Celiac is not "rare" anymore. 1 in 133 people have it. Let me throw this at you, too. Open Original Shared Link
  4. you betcha! I just "call 'em as I see 'em"
  5. I think you missed my point. Those foods almost killed me, so no, I HONESTLY do not miss them at all. Honestly.
  6. Kids can be cruel, but they do not know any better. I know this is hard sometimes, sweetie, but in the end, as long as SHE does not think it is "weird" or "different", she can just blow it off. I commend you for all you are doing: going back to school, raising your kids well and re-learning how to cook gluten-free for your family. You're doing a...
  7. Congrats on her trophy! and congrats to YOU for making her day so special! Hon, you guys have got to stop thinking of the food you eat as "different". Who's to say it's not THEIR food that's different!! No need to explain anything to anyone. YOU guys eat healthy. Glad you guys has a GREAT day!!! yaaay!!!!
  8. Ok, sleep tight. and please, tell us what recipe are you trying to work with? we can help!
  9. Your symptoms sound like they are gluten-related. (and I had all the ones you list, including the pain in my chest) Celiac disease is associated with MANY health problems and involves many organs: heart, thyroid, liver, kidneys, the skin. It affects the brain in ways that are many and varied. I wore a holter monitor 5 times in the last 20 years for erratic...
  10. As a dancer and a party girl, I admit it, I love flash mobs. This one happened in MOSCOW recently, but the best part is --they are dancing to an 83- year- old American song written by Irving Berlin!! Puttin' on the Ritz .. (of course, I can't help thinking of Young Frankenstein, too  ) Open Original Shared Link
  11. yum, I love the Lays. always have.
  12. You can work around it, I do!!.... and it may just be temporary!!
  13. They will be GREAT!! Brownies....yum
  14. Take the onion out and it still works! (I only do it for the contrast taste--the sweet vadalia or red onion, but it is it not essential) And hon..."CREATIVE" happens EVERY time you cook!! You create something from nothing, right? RIGHT !!
  15. LOVEY! I love that you still treat yourself-- as you should--even when you are (temporarily) cooking for one. I GET that! Cheers, hon!!
  16. I'll just have to get some beef dogs and try this. I like the Applegate farms meats (no TJ's here yet) Thanks, Bun We had giant burgers and sweet potato fries at the gluten-free cafe near us today for lunch (can you say STUFFED? ) so, dinner will be LIGHT: Chicken salad (I make mine with dried cranberries, celery, onion, walnuts and diced...
  17. I agree. I have never seen any meats with it up here in NY anyway. BabsV, a member on here, is living in Poland right now and she says ALL those types of processed meats there have it.
  18. Agree. The tom sauce one needs tweaking (pepperoni for the hubs, bacon and carmelized onions for me) but the onion & sausage on the pesto sounds good. Chebe dogs, eh? I haven't had a dog in years...maybe it's time? For Chebe pizza, I do a 4-cheese white ZA (as we call it)--an olive oil swish over it, then, ricotta, mozz, smoked provolone and shaved...
  19. LUCK!! I am proud of you, you're a warrior!! For nausea, sip club soda or ginger ale. Tell us what happened tomorrow!!
  20. You're welcome, hon! And welcome to the Forum!!
  21. Mine would say: (1) No, you don't wish you could lose weight like I did, I almost died and can't you SEE this balding head? (2) Celiac ain't for sissies and you can't handle it. (3)Gluten is my kryptonite. So, no I can't have "just a little." (4) Maybe I don't look so bad now, but you should feel it from IN HERE. (5) I'm sorry, but...
  22. Fantastic! Every time I hear that someone is feeling better by trying the gluten-free diet (in spite of NEG testing) I am overjoyed that they have found an answer to long-standing health problems. Your doctor is one of the "enlightened ones".
  23. ((hug)) So sorry!! I am hoping you will recover sufficiently to still attend. How fast do you normally rebound? (I would never make it, but you may be a quick rebounder) How about some Immodium to temporarily arrest the flood gates? (I have never used it, but I know people on here do.) and maybe some Advil for the joint pain? and lots of water...
  24. Nick. Looks like someone made a PDF PRINTABLE one from the link Karen and I gave you. It's the one Scott has here on the site. May be easier to read and have handy. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Good points, Richard. I have never seen a turkey with gluten in it myself. And if it had wheat it would be labeled. I know that mortadella and some other deli meats may be a problem. FWIW, I found that short list I posted right here: Source: Thompson T. Celiac Disease Nutrition Guide, 2nd ed. Chicago: American Dietetic Association; 2006. ...
