  1. Now, I want a cupcake.....you're killing me, girl.
  2. whoops, K and I posted simultaneously!! Glutenfreemama says: Indian Ricegrass ---Also known as Montina flour, grown and processed in Montana. This flour is high in fiber and protein. This flour should be combined with other gluten-free flours to have the best effect with baking. It can be used anywhere from 10% - 20% of my total flour blends....
  3. I had to turn the AC on (as much as I hate it) so I could turn the oven on so I can make the rolls...GAK!! it's already 95 here at 11 am in NY .
  4. Yes, pluots are the same. Pluots, apriums, apriplums, or plumcots, are some of the hybrids. Hubs is working on the front porch in this heat. He's getting: Potato salad Burgers on CHEBE rolls and fruit salad for dessert.
  5. Those are good suggestions, Bun. Thanks!
  6. actually, there are a few more herbs than that. And they better NOT be "left over french beans", I paid a lot for that bag! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Haricots-Verts-with-Herb-Butter-240576
  7. Wow, hon, good thing you saw that!!! Can you imagine, after putting yourself through all that, if the test was never run? arrgh!!! Ok, my fingers are crossed you get some answers!
  8. Starting to get humid here, too. May be 90 tomorrow. Taco salad might be tomorrow's dinner. Thanks for the idea.
  9. WTF?? That is why HE sent you there!! whattaya mean there was no celiac panel? THIS is the doc you said would help you right??
  10. Jane, I do not understand why you have not called the doctor I told you about many months ago? He will diagnose you! He can also send you for a biopsy of your DH. He is the most celiac-savvy doc in this tri-city area. If not, try and get an appt. with Dr. Fasano in Maryland maybe? Hon, every time I tell you this, you seem to ignore...
  11. Sweetie, you have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for. You only answered a question! You did not steer the discussion off topic. You're fine! and dinner sounds GREAT!!
  12. Looks de-lish! What will you do for the cake flour? An all- purpose blend? Fine white rice and tap starch? think we need the X-gum?
  13. It's a hybrid of plums and apricots, I believe, but I should let LOVE2 tell you. I am guessing she's probably up to her elbows in jam preparation.
  14. Well, after all we discussed, this does not surprise me, hon. Sorry you feel so yucky. Good riddance to gluten, eh? If you are positive, your doc may want to biopsy you. Good luck and keep us posted. You know how to reach me either way.
  15. I actually like this thread so much BECAUSE we chit chat with each other just a little and then, say what's for dinner, then someone else comes on and chit chats some more and says what's for dinner. It's always on topic, therefore, and it does not really wander that far off at all and always comes right back to...What's for dinner! So here's what...
  16. I have about the same weekly intake of meat as Jess. Beef (3-4), pork,(1) lamb, (1) chicken or turkey (1-2) and fish and shellfish when I can. I also eat more fish than my guy does. (In fact, he eats NONE. stubborn ! ) I have no issues with eating red meat as I do feel best on that kind of protein intake. If hubs had his way, he would...
  17. I do, hon, I like the taste and it can be used in cooking. And honestly, it is not OVERLY coconutty at all. The vanilla one is sweeter. Try the plain, unsweetened one first, maybe? He'll think it's just milk.
  18. I know you do, hon--and I am sorry . I know many people have trouble with grains and as I pointed out, many people have other food intolerances. I have weird reactions just like you describe when I eat soybean oil. All I am trying to point out to the newly diagnosed is that corn is safe for the majority of celiacs.
  19. There was a bit of confusion at the store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok,I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring...
  20. There is no evidence of Foods that "cross react" with gluten. This one study mentions maize and another, (for some lactose intolerant individuals) milk. THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT CELIACS "CROSS-REACT" WITH FOODS, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE INTESTINES. This "Dr. Osborne"?? is a chiropractor and a Nutritionist. He is NOT an expert on Celiac...
  21. Let's clarify this so newly diagnosed people reading this thread do not become alarmed. Corn is SAFE for celiacs to consume. There is no wheat gluten in corn. (Corn gluten feed is a by-product from the manufacture of cornstarch and corn syrup. ) The "gluten" protein in corn is NOT harmful to celiacs.
  22. try So Delicious Coconut Milk. Tastes Great and high in calcium. Comes in plain, unsweetened, vanilla and chocolate. They also make creamer, yogurt and Ice cream (dairy and soy free)
  23. My Mom is gluten free and succesfully follows the Weight Watcher plan. She is on maintenance now and they even gave her a handout that says gluten-free on WW is simple. I think she just counts the bread item as you would the whole wheat bread.
  24. No, cream does not have wheat in it. All those products you listed do not have gluten in them, but if they did include wheat starch, they would have to be labeled. By law in the US, if modified food starch is from wheat, it must state so on the label. It may be identified as modified wheat starch, modified starch (wheat) or it may
