  1. true, true I should add that I also avoid wheat protein in shampoo.
  2. I was using a bunch of herbals & homeopathic remedies recommended by a Naturopath (before DX) and later learned that THOSE are loaded with sals, too. Oils, too. My system was saturated.
  3. ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Every site has slightly different info (I have noticed) and everyone's tolerance level is different. That's the tricky part. Same with amines, sulfates, nitrates, MSG, etc. A little may be tolerable, but it is not easy to figure out when the body is saturated. Multiple chemical sensitivities make it even harder.
  4. TOMATOES (and I think this MAY mean all tomato products?--as I recall when I was avoiding them?) are HIGH in Sals. Just FYI! There is a food guide here: (prickly may have already posted this one?) Open Original Shared Link
  5. ...Your funny bone is showing....
  6. Your IQ is intact, I assure you! That brain fog, fuzziness, short-term memory lapses and lack of concentration/comprehension--just maddening isn't it?! Made me nuts. This, too, will resolve itself. Make sure you guys are getting enough EFAs and a good multivitamin along with probiotics. Sorry to keep butting into your thread that is mostly...
  7. SQUIRMY GIRL- (hugs for you--the gentle and non-abrasive kind ) I have been "accused" by my pals that I am a "long poster" --so bear with me ---as this is your Friday morning pep talk. It is impossible to avoid stress in life...... unless we live like monks (but that would mean no sex or booze and that does not sound very appealing ) So, we...
  8. I think a positive attitude and humor is vital to recovery (they are known adrenal gland boosters and stress-busters) and I imagine that at first, some of us seem irreverant or sarcastic or even bold in some things we say. But the truth is, this safe place and these wonderful & sympathetic people? This keeps all of us sane. And NO ONE GETS IT like...
  9. It takes one (food snob) to know one. Really? no more 22 minute toast? Girl, that was one of the funniest damn threads I ever read.
  10. I just want to say....You are such a wise woman. Providing your daughter with coping tools-- early on-- to be independent, assertive and confident ... and in total charge of managing her celiac disease. Major kuddos, J!
  11. In time, this will pass. I promise! I feel myself gagging now when I see food like that all clustered together. Blech! I would have been one of the first ones to waddle up and fill a plate with that junk to graze on. As a former chubbo myself, I look at it all now and think....that is just going to make someone's arse fat, clog their arteries and make...
  12. We ARE indeed living parallel lives, kiddo.
  13. EXACTLY Thanks for your post, LOVE2--- it is almost exactly what I would have written and you saved me the time. I fear chain places, diners, etc. --gluten galore! I am also VERY fortunate to have a TOTALLY dedicated gluten-free cafe/bakery run by "one of us" about 45 mins. away that I go to for lunch twice weekly after physical therapy. It...
  14. Here, kiddo. Try these. Get yourself some Enjoy Life chocolate chips or chunks (no dairy) and bring them in to work with you. Easy peasy recipe. Open Original Shared Link
  15. Yes, Prickly, That's me, too. All of those cause me problems: Swelling, bloating, itchiness, headaches, and they mess with my "regularity" and make me feel "out of sorts". I feel like I am "swollen" inside my own skin. That is the best way to describe it. I am itchy and get sores on my scalp. UGH! I am not a grouchy person by nature at all, but I feel...
  16. oh, bummer, so sorry that happened. The "collapse" did occur when we first made bread but, that was corrected after we tweaked the cooking time and followed these exact measurements and cooked it for the 18 minutes at the 400 temp and then 42 mins. at 365. A gluten-free baker I met also suggested two things: turn the loaf as it cools....one...
  17. Poor girl, sorry!. I know Eatmeat4good and will email her and ask her to respond too. These gals have given you GREAT info! I wish I had answers for you. While I had scalp oozey sores and terrible itchies and blisters and mouth eruptions, I did not have classic DH...about the only thing celiac did not give me. Hope you get relief soon...
  18. Honestly, the only "cosmetics" worry I would have (personally )is if a LIPSTICK contains wheat germ oil. That should be listed.
  19. I eat the gluten-free Rice Krispies often and have no problems whatsoever. FWIW, I am a low-trace-gluten reactor so I would have an issue right away.
  20. THOSE symptoms are gone in me , but I still have more to resolve. My point is...they may not be Classical IgE-mediated allergies. Get tested, so you cover your bases, but if the results reveal nothing, just know that gluten can cause them, too.
  21. I am a pain in the arse about recommending probiotics. Celiac guts NEED these. Read this: Open Original Shared Link If you are not on them now, I suggest you start them ASAP. Cheers, IH
  22. I am always reluctant to say how long it has taken me to even start to see progress because I never want my experience to be discouraging for others. Healing is a unique time table. I am gluten-free nearly 15 months now and I am still healing ....slowly. My doc and I know it may take me YEARS to be well and out of pain. I had dozens of symptoms and...
  23. They all sound fine to me. I have used both Custom Probiotics 6-strain and Culturelle. They work well. Unless you have specific B and D vitamin defs, there is no need to mega-dose those! People make this mistake and then wonder why they feel like crap or have "tingling" in their extremities. My doc says it is likely many are toxic from over-supplementing...
  24. I see Skylark has answered you and... Yes, I did see your original post which refreshed my memory. Your Mom and My Dad and Me--are those people who hear "well, that is unusual, happens about 1-2% of the time or 16% of patients...or my fav "in my 35 years, I have NEVER seen a patient who presents with your"....blah blah ...." (gee thanks, doc that...
