  1. aw, crappers, I fergetted --sorry. I don't do those myself right now. Garbanzo/garfava bean and I do not get along for some reason. mebbe in time?
  2. This is very good to know! Thanks! Cheers, IH
  3. Total PITA.... For graham crust in my cheesecake, I use the Grainless Baker Graham Cookies --run through the mini- chopper ---add melted butter
  4. I gave that up when hubs was shopping and discovered Success Brown Rice 10 minute boil-in bags. This was not something I thought would be tasty at all---but I admit it, it works. When you just do not have time, you may wish to use them.
  5. Sorry. Maybe I misunderstood you. I read your sentence as this--it said "between BRM and UDI's, it was the perfect storm for "gluteny crappiness" ---and thought that was what you meant--as in Gluten CC. Okay. Got it!
  6. No, you may have missed my point, hon. I do not think it is gluten CC. I think it is something else in those products bothering you. IMHO
  7. This is interesting (and perplexing) but what about all this isn't, right?! I can honestly report that BRM flours--like rice and sorghum-- do not bother me and I am very sensitive to trace gluten CC, HOWEVER the BRM all-purpose flour with the Garfava or garbanzo bean flours in them? Make me nauseous. For what that's worth. Also, delayed symptoms...
  8. You are very kind to provide an update, but this original thread is 5 years old and the original poster may not see it. Just so you know! Cheers, IH
  9. Absolutely no problems with Tinkyada pasta. (as far as I know, it's all they make there. Certified out the ying-yang as Kosher, gluten-free, allergen-free, all organic.) If you want variety in your pasta choices, you can try corn pasta. Sam Mills, BiAglut, Schar. All good. I am extremely sensitive to trace gluten CC. I know when I...
  10. yup! true that, Takala....hubs went gluten-free with me, of his own accord, as he felt it easier & healthier. (As I believe him to be gluten- sensitive himself, I think it's best and was almost relieved I did not have to twist his arm. I can be verrry persuasive;)
  11. I did not know all the other circumstances regarding your testing (until I read Skylark's post above) and so, NOW I see what's going on and I agree with her. I believe you have Celiac too! IMHO I am not sure what your confusion is at all. You cannot afford to be "gluten lite". Not at all! You are one of us. Time to dump the gluten...
  12. I am beginning to think this is the case for me as well. Even IF they have made separate sections in their kitchens and cleaned the area (because of course they have to comply with health code regulations) who knows what remains on areas/cookware/grills. I have only dined out twice in the last year (except for lunches at a totally dedicated/ safe...
  13. There is quite a bit written about the celtic association (some folks kiddingly calling this " Celtic Disease".) and the genetic markers that are prevalent in Ireland/the UK. Interesting stuff!
  14. Hi Hon! Welcome to the forum! Ditto for me-- French, Irish, German ---and Armenian. There's no one in my family with Celiac (that we know of anyway )--except me--but there are others (of this, I am quite sure) as the family is loaded with auotimmune diseases. My Dad certainly had it, we know now. And in our grandparents' time, no one kept records...
  15. From the reviews I read on the Gluten free registry, (written by fellow celiacs) the Olive Garden gluten-free pasta is just microwaved frozen tasteless crap that they charge over $12 bucks for. And I am with Skylark, their "cuisine" was not something I craved before DX anyway. Cheese-covered everything. blech. Open Original Shared Link
  16. It's why Bugs Bunny has such a beautiful smile. Yes, kiddo, life is a gluten-filled landmine...but being wise about CC is your Kevlar vest. You're going to be okay. Hang in there and get your list of questions ready for the doctor. Keep us posted.
  17. me, too.... (there's wheat gluten in those things...I wish I had known all this back when I had my lab....)
  18. Those are some pearly white chompers!! good for her! My cat Bella doesn't eat any grains eaither. Her coat is luxurious--- since she adopted us and went gluten-free, too. She was a mess when we found her and now, she is GORGEOUS. You know, if I thought my hair would grow back in that thick, I would eat her kitty cat canned salmon, too.
  19. Vertigo, among several other NASTY and persistent neuro issues, (ataxia, burning nerves, parasthesia, memory issues, muscle atrophy, etc. ) were among my symptoms of celiac. Listen to TAKALA and insist upon that biopsy. People with DH are celiacs, in most medical opinions. Period. Actually, there is quite a bit written about gluten ataxia. here you...
  20. SSSHHHH be cool now,....don't tell anyone I said that.... man, I just wanna give that sweet doggie face a big smoochie ...he, she? is so CUTE!!!
  21. You are not melodramatic, honey, you feel yucky and this is the place where you can b**ch and no one will think you a drama queen. (well, there are some DQs on here, too.... )
  22. The emulsifiers in the candy bar are probably not from gluten. I suspect you are having a reaction to the milk in the chocolate? Since steroids are given in the case of refractory sprue, and they suppress the autoimmune system, it would make sense to me that they could very well effect the outcome of your testing result, showing low antibodies...
  23. we are not old, we're "seasoned". Yes, most definitely read the reviews. Whenever I post a recipe from a more reputable website, espeically if I have never made the recipe myself, I say "I have not made these"!!!-- just so everyone knows. That way, if they are dreadful, I can't be blamed.
  24. I posted a Fig Newton recipe on the "Make Your Own" thread JESTGAR started--- when you asked about them. Maybe you missed it, hon. eatmeat4good, on 06 March 2012 - 06:11 PM, said: Does anybody have a way of making Fig Newtons? Or some version of them?? I so loved them. Honestly, I am not sure how good they are Sweetie, as...
