  1. Gotta love a man with a test tube and a flask. My hubby is a chemist. I have a story that is not funny "haha" really, but funny/sweet in that she tried anyway....My first gluten-free thanksgiving last year, my sister made me a separate turkey without stuffing. How sweet right? When I was helping with the dishes, I saw only one baster. My heart...
  2. Hi....yes, we are here! We got here in Sept. The 4 days in a U-Haul wasn't too bad, but I think I did get glutened somewhere.....probably Cracker Barrel. I thought breakfast might be safe. It's SO nice here. 77* today. :) I am adjusting quite well and not missing the Lands of Perpetual Winter at all. I couldn't figure out how to reply to your message, so hope you get this.

  3. DITTO from me! and yes, I agree @ the dizziness going away...and it feels great to no longer feel like I had one of those "rolling sidewalks" in the airport under my feet. (that was just an awful sensation.) I fell off a treadmill when I was that ditzy! Stopped going to the gym as I also had developed parasthesia in my back and legs.. oh,yes, and it...
  4. WE will just hang in there! You just keep doing what you need to do to get well and see what happens. If you know a good chiro, try a few sessions. Can't hurt and may help you! I know this...don't ever give up hope! You take good care of yourself! We're on the right path now!
  5. Sounds as if you have tried all the same things I have. piriformis stretches, chiropractic, massage, physical therapy, ice, pillow between the knees, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, even relented to a steroid injection.... NO HELP! For me, the intense sciatic nerve pain is gone. It's the other stuff I deal with now that is hell. Hope you get...
  6. I found this Q and A article in Gluten Free Living Magazine when I was first looking at things like brown rice syrup for use in baking. Maybe it will help clarify? "Q. Is brown rice syrup gluten free? A. Brown rice syrup is a sweetener made by fermenting brown rice with enzymes to disintegrate the starch content, according to manufacturer AG Commodities...
  7. 4. Too many to count during 30 years of illness and resulting chronic pain. BUT I FIGURED IT OUT MYSELF. 5. C I have so many symptoms still to resolve (and it would take some time to list them all but examples that your survey did not list: hair loss, burning sensations, bone/joint pain) and I am 10 months gluten free. I expect it will take me...
  8. Thanks, A--and I wish the same for you, hon! Your sig line reads much like my symptoms. I hear you! I was doing so much to help my MIL, my own parents, friends with needs....and I did it willingly and happily, but eventually, to the detriment of my own health. This horrid pain all started for me with SCIATIC nerve pain and it traveled into my lumbar...
  9. Oh YES! STRESS most definitely was the final trigger for me. In February 2008, when I started having BURNING pain, my beloved Dad had just died and the years that led up to that loss were filled with many stressors (physical & emotional)that I handled, but THAT one did me in. I was just pushed over the edge. I went downhill for nearly 3 more years...
  10. Jai, Two things to consider: What were the results of the thyroid antibodies test? Do you have other symptoms indicative of hypothyroidism? (And that is a good question, who told you it was "not low enough" treat? A primary care doc or an endocrinologist?) In MY case, my thyroid was sluggish and my TSH was always on the hypo side...
  11. I second Skyark's advice to start slowly, possibly with probiotic powder instead of a whole capsule. Probiotics are beneficial and not harmful. I think your reaction is one of "die off" in which case, you may really need the probiotics to balance your gut flora. Drink a lot of water to hydrate and flush. Celiac guts need probiotics for...
  12. I use it without any problem.
  13. Are you possibly anemic? I was really short of breath for so long, even for a few months post-DX and gluten free. Just walking the length of my driveway had me breathing hard and feeling totally exhausted. When I read that celiacs often have both B-12 and Folate deficiency anamia, I had my doctor test my folate level and sure enough, I had a FOLATE...
  14. Have your FOLATE levels checked. This can really tank with celiac and causes anemia. I was so wiped out and yet, my B-12 and D were supplemented and the levels came up just fine....so, what was it? I read about Folate deficiency with celiac and I went back and asked for this test and sure enough, that was LOW. Two months supplementation with prescription...
  15. I use So Delicious Coconut milk and their Creamer as well--in baking and on cereal and in my tea. I eat the ice cream, too. I usually react right away with "gluten head" or bowel issues --and I have NO reaction whatsoever. I guess everyone is different.
  16. Me, too--54! (until a few weeks from now ) I do not recall the last time I felt well or moved without pain--and each month when I feel slightly better, I rejoice... Hope your improvement continues and you feel FANTASTIC in time! Best wishes, IH
  17. Hi Judy! I am happy to hear you are doing so well! When we "met", you were a few months ahead of me and had already had positive results! Your story--like so many others on here-- is inspirational. Cheers, IH
  18. Thanks, BM! Um...Why not make gluten-free stuffing for ALL of you? With the seasonings, no one will know the difference! And you won't be CCed! Great that hubby is working with you to enjoy tasty treats! Mine makes our bread for us. He's a sweetie! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
  19. Thanks, hon! I dream of the day when I am "on the other side" like the ones who have healed. I am almost there! I think I can can see the finish line I am the tortoise....slow and steady. My family calls me this as they know it will take me a while to get out of the physical pain I am in...but I look at it this way, it took me my whole life to get this...
  20. Celiac disease decreases the gut's ability to absorb necessary vitamins such as folate and B6. Some studies have shown that low levels of folate are associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders. Hope you have had your folate and B6 levels checked--- as that could be part of the problem. Another nutritional deficiency that may play a...
  21. Good for you!!!! I am so happy for you!!! It is always encouraging to hear successful healing stories. My last blood panels were good, too--and I can understand your joy and your triumph! I'm 10 months in and coming back from the dead is like the phoenix rising. I was just thinking myself, this will be the first happy Thanksgiving/birthday week...
  22. Alice, Read about celiac disease from a REPUTABLE SITE. From the nature of your queries, it is obvious you have no real understanding of it. Knowledge is power. And with that knowledge, acceptance will come. Be healthy and be happy! Open Original Shared Link Best wishes, IH
  23. Really?.....Are you kidding me? They state on the site: "CureZone started as a personal homepage in Norway." Does this sound like someone who can give you solid medical advice? Geesh, hun....it's time to give it up. You're just wasting your time searching for a "cure" on the internet. And you would be very ill-advised to...
  24. We use Merrick's BG--Before Grain.
  25. ooo, Karen!......Can I have some of THAT???
