  1. vent away!! that's why we're here! If he agrees to switch, just transition the puppy with a mixture of each for a few days. The pup's tum will adapt in no time. Hope your headaches ease up....you probably already know this but....drink a lot of water!! I am not sure why, but we tend to need more water..... I feel "funny" if I don't get enough...
  2. The gluten free pet food seems extreme at first glance BUT cross contamination happens on every level AND there are many articles that show grains are NOT good for pets at all. They cannot digest them well. Wheat gluten is almost always in dog food. People report their dogs' allergies or itching or red spots disappear off gluten. Makes sense? ...
  3. This sounds like an interesting product! I will check it out. Thanks. Right now, I am under the impression it is NOT the product causing me a problem at all, rather some other food intolerance.I am playing detective!
  4. 'shroom...you HAVE met my family,then
  5. This will sound funny, but I am GLAD it's celiac. At least NOW I know why I have been so sick and in pain and what can be done to save my life. It has been HELL. Yeah, denial ....my whole family is in it!!--they refuse to think they have this, too---it's only me....they are ALL sick and have mega-autoimmune diseases...ah well, I have told them what they...
  6. I'm 54 and feel like 90.... Seriously, though, since going gluten-free, I am seeing a reduction in the 50+ horrible symptoms I have had for years. I KNEW this was what it was, but no one else seemed to agree. Misdiagnosed for YEARS. They were wrong. The excruciating pain is the worst, but the hair loss, anxiety, weight loss, insomnia and severe...
  7. Your sleep has improved in the last few months, you say? hmmm......why, what has changed?...oh, that's right,...no gluten!! Ta-Da!!! hang in there!!
  8. Thanks, but my days of spending more money on tests are over. My progress will have to be my diagnostic tool from now on. And lab work covered by insurance through my PC doc. I am broke! A functional MD and an ND for 2.5 years...no help. No help from any MDs for that matter. $10K on tests, (pee, poop, blood) and $12K on herbals and supplements ...
  9. It is interesting that your doc was checking your cortisol levels. Were you fatigued? I had mine done the same way (saliva testing)because my doctor's thinking was check the hormones and see why I was losing my hair and feeling so tired... Many think those tests are "invalid" because it's not "mainstream"... I had it done by an ND because no MD was...
  10. I feel for your hubby because I have a difficult time with medicines, too. Every single one I have tried in the past 3 years (and they tried to give me everything) has made me sick to my stomach, given me heart palps or caused enough vomiting and D to dehydrate me and send me to the ER. Oddly, before the celiac was triggered, I could TAKE AND EAT ANYTHING...
  11. They might, if you are sensitive to the products. Some people have trouble with xanthan gum, soy, etc...
  12. and your post made me laugh too, Shroom... because I get that same "condescending tone" whenever I tell PTs or other medical personnel that my iliopsoas is so tight and causing pain or my suboccipitals and traps or my ischial tuberosity is strained rendering me unable to sit comfortably.. ...of course we know what we are talking about!---we are proactive...
  13. I am no "expert" I assure you!!--but anyone else on here will tell you the same thing, I think. Okay, you hang in there! I hope you solve your bread dilemma....we make our own, but keep Udi's bagels in the freezer. um...the packaged bread does, indeed, suck...LOL
  14. Thanks, Raven...I did inform him. He even went to the trouble of reading about it to discuss it with me! I will remind him each time I go.
  15. Mine "blossomed" for real at 51...under extreme stress. I agree w/Sylvia--it's not about age. It is just progressive. I think, despite the inconvenience, it is better to be DXed as a child and spared a lifetime of illness. They test the children in Italy now--that's wise thinking! Doctors were useless to me. If I had continued to listen to them, I'd...
  16. See, Marc...you have what are called "extra-intestinal" signs of celiac!! The joint pain, the loss of weight (unintentional), hormonal disturbance--not just in women, but men as well---and the brain function? Big time on here!!! That was the worst for me--I thought I was losing my mind (but knew it had to be something else!!!) ok, I am posting you a list...
  17. thanks for that!!
  18. Hi Marc, (1) You may want to read up on silent celiac. (2) It takes 6 months to a year for people to see healing. 2-3 months may not be enough. It's your call, obviously, but the celiac gene, (and you have BOTH) predisposes you to celiac. It's not just about stomach issues---you are open to a whole range of crippling autoimmune disorders, like diabetes...
  19. Hubby makes our bread (he experimented for 2 months--it was part comical, part sad ) But we have UDIs' bagels and bread in the freezer for travel, emergencies or for a bagel once and while. I tried them all--some were horrid!) and I think theirs is the best. Not crumbly and makes great toast!
  20. Thanks, Peter....I have not used any Glutino products as yet (I saw their crackers contained soy, so I stopped checking) and I truly appreciate your "heads up"! My cousin swears by Glutino, maybe I will give them a try! The EnjoyLife products seem to be fine for me. I always appreciate your input on this subject (those pesky <20ppm gluten levels...
  21. I was a raging insomniac for years. Always felt like I was "wired for sound" tossing and turning. Since going gluten-free, I sleep a few hours and wake up still, but now, I can almost always get a few hours more. At one point, I could barely sleep 1 or 2 hours. It was horrible. Now, I manage 5-6. I was always surprised by people who said gluten made them...
  22. Definitely NEVER try the " may contain wheat" stuff Once I see the "may contain traces of " soy, nuts, etc...I put the package down because I can't tolerate soy and I have no idea what else MAY be in there. I have been burned by those products. I am very sensitive apparently. I have learned to look for the words "made in a dedicated gluten-free...
  23. Oh boy.... do my knees hurt!! And my hips, ankles, elbows too....joint, bone and muscle pain is an unfortunate symptom of celiac disease and I am told, connective tissues and ligaments are impacted as well. I had "growing pains" really bad growing up. My Mom blew those off by calling them that. Now, I know better. Many people on here report a...
  24. LOL..maybe, or "divine intervention" of some type LOL --are you a psychic? If so, hubby wants to know if you know the lottery numbers. In any case, I am soooo glad you told me this story! It takes the "scariness" out of it. It is a very disturbing and uncomfortable reaction. I may have to have those implants myself...bummer. My teeth took a...
  25. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Nobody would ever believe the kind of pain I had. It is excruciating, at best. I am so sorry you have hurt like this.
