  1. I had a NEG blood test back in 2010 and I had been gluten-free for 4 weeks at the time, thinking it was a good idea. I had been VERY ILL for 2 years and felt Gluten was a real problem. My stupid doctor said it wouldn't affect the test I believed him and continued to eat gluten for ANOTHER year as I slowly dwindled down to nothing. A gastro doc scoped...
  2. Ditto for me! IBS is a "broad term" applied to a syndrome--a collection of symptoms...irritable bowel---yes, it IS VERY IRRITABLE, doctor!! It's pissed off---but WHY??? Listen to your body. Gluten wreaks havoc. If you feel better off it, you've got a gluten issue. Tests are wrong all the time, unfortunately. Go with your gut (pun intended
  3. That's great! I am still too raw in the GI tract for eating out just yet, but will keep PF Chang's in mind when I am ready. Again, I am happy for you and wish you continued good health!!!!!!
  4. Thanks, Janet!
  5. Since I posted this a while ago, I have stopped feeling that way after breakfast. My thinking is I was just still too sick and was reacting to everything....thanks for your input!!
  6. hurray fa lobstah !!! (bostonian born and bred!!) Have one fa me!!
  7. I was at PT for the crippling pain I have as a result of this disease and the Dr. Oz show came on with this gluten-free foods segment and this woman was basically trashing gluten-free breads and crackers for being high in calories. So what? Some of us need to put weight on, lady! I wanted to jump off the table (if I could, with these weak, malnourished legs...
  8. Apparently, Kingsford used to have wheat and corn as binders but went to just corn starch. This post is from 2008... (whew! that's what WE use)
  9. Are you freakin kidding me? Do you know how much grilling we do --even in winter?? AARRGGHH!! I am so GLAD I saw this post....can I swear now? sonuva..... (and as for "Princess difficult" that is an awesome nickname.... LOL LOL LOL LOL) I just told hubby we need a new weber kettle and new charcoal....you should see his face........
  10. sigh...I can relate. Thanksgiving at my sister's. I brought gluten-free stuffing, rolls, and a piece of gluten-free pie from the totally dedicated gluten-free cafe/bakery near me so I could enjoy my first gluten-free holiday since diagnosis Nov. 1st. Figured I could eat the plain, unstuffed turkey that she made separately just for me. Isn't she sweet...
  11. Love2 thanks....these sound yummy. Her website has lots of delicious ideas. When I am more healed up, I'll get my baker (sweet hubby) right on these
  12. You're welcome! Maybe the dairy was the culprit! Give the enzymes and probiotics a chance to work. I hope you continue to feel better!!
  13. Welcome to the board and I hope you feel better soon!! :)
  14. aw, thanks, 'Shroom...I did a lot of homework
  15. A compromised gut has a hard time with many foods, unfortunately. Mine are beans and citrus fruits, peppers, soy and eggs. Forget raw veggies--OUCH!! Broccoli and other high fiber veggies can give me trouble, too. Acidic foods are tough on raw GI tracts--like coffee, toms or OJ. I cannot drink anything but water...the rest HURT!I see what gives me grief and...
  16. Lisa! This is FANTASTIC news!! Good for you, kiddo!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAYY! Here's a cyber cheer of joy!! Do celebrate your good health and continue to feel well! You inspire ME!!
  17. I watch the fish guy change gloves every time before he handles my order, but you raise an excellent point! There are LOTS of breaded things sitting in that case....who the heck knows what crumbs drift over or if he touched the breaded fish before stocking the naked salmon filets. I am thinking it is wise to wash it off before preparing and that perhaps...

  19. just curious....does your Mom have any symptoms??
  20. You do not "outgrow" celiac. If you had it as a child, you still have it. That is old school, erroneous thinking that has resulted in many people developing autoimmune diseases or cancer, etc. because they did not follow a gluten-free diet for life. The positive DNA test means you are predisposed to the disease. The disease is hereditary. Your post...
  21. This is what I was trying to say before, but GFMANNA said it best. I was "not myself" at all while ingesting gluten. I overreacted to things that normally would not have been a big deal at all. My husband had to deal with me being physically ill and listening to me cry and rant and tremble--not at him, but at my chronic pain and illness. I really felt like...
  22. MAKES PERFECT SENSE!! YUP, complain away...we do it all the time.I did it just five minutes ago...LOL LOL Sam, I was just about to tell you that you should talk with "love2travel" because she has no symptoms either....and here she is, already replying!! You know, there was another gal on here yesterday with silent celiac, too and she was really bumming...
  23. man, do I hear ya! I am not a "crazy OCD" person either, but I was PERSISTENT in getting to the bottom of my health problems, and wanting DEFINITIVE ANSWERS, so I totally get your point. I do not blame you one bit! It's being PROACTIVE about your health-- it is commendable. It does suck. And you will come to a place of acceptance. Give yourself some...
  24. OMG! I am very sorry to hear this as I felt you had done so much to try and help your wife with her celiac diagnosis. I don't know what else is going on, but I can tell you that celiac DEFINITELY affects people's BRAIN function enormously. I have to wonder if her behavior and judgment right now isn't seriously compromised because of her malnutrition...
