  1. I have to add.....my best friend is a chef and she has always happily prepared the food as the customer requests. That is her JOY! To make the people happy and enjoy the dining experience. For these "celebrity chefs" to whine about catering to "picky eaters" --a group I guess we fall into ??--I say maybe it's time to do something else! As the number...
  2. I am still rather irritated by the Times article!!!....chefs are perceiving special requests as "excessive customer fussiness"...!! WOW!! what happened to the food SERVICE industry?? If I am paying outrageous prices for my meals, you should specialty prepare it, no matter what I request!! If just one of these outspoken "chefs" would develop a food allergy...
  3. The article jerseyangel just posted has this final quote... "... earlier this month the Times reported that a growing number of "purist" chefs are pushing back against what they see as excessive customer fussiness. Celebrity chef David Chang says he thinks "The special requests are ridiculous. My personal opinion is that a lot of people say they have...
  4. I just found I have anemia due to deficiency of folate and one of the symptoms of that is Ringing in the ears! I had it WORSE when still consuming gluten--my head buzzed like mad..whooshing, etc....but now, it is just a low tone. Maybe it will resolve after my folate level goes up?
  5. Oh boy! sorry--because I know how this feels.I cannot take Benedryl---or anything really---for this very reason. I get HYPER and shaky and am wide awake with weird anxiety. Not fun. I only tried it once. That was enough! I know the brand name is safe, because a lot of people on here use it,but did this store brand stuff have hidden gluten in it?? I...
  6. Three cheers for your gluten-savvy doctor!! Thanks for sharing!! Many think this is baloney...as in, if you don't eat it, it's not a problem. A LOT of us know otherwise. I, too, have to avoid skin care and shampoo products, etc. with hydrolyzed wheat protein. And, apparently, I have to stop giving the cat treats, too...yup, gluten in those...
  7. um...does this mean you were an emoticon virgin up 'til now?? if so...BIG congrats!!!
  8. YES!! who do we lobby for that!! I am picturing your lab doing that and it gave me a smile. We used to balance milk bones on my beloved lab, Gracie's nose and try to get her to toss it in the air and catch it....and she would look at us with disgust and just lower her head slowly and let it slide to the floor and eat it...not one for tricks, our old...
  9. You bet! Did you have your both your B-12 and Folate levels checked before you start supplementing? Also, if you take the B-12, you should take a B complex with Folate, too. Also, here is a long answer to your question about why WE should take the methyl form...but it is interesting!! "Methylcobalamin is one of the two coenzyme forms of...
  10. My prayers, thoughts and good wishes for you, Lisa! You are one courageous woman!! Hang in there!!
  11. Our experiences parallel each other, dear Shroom! My 3 years of research kept bringing me to this site as well! Almost everything wrong in me was explained right here. If I were not my own best advocate, I do not know what would have happened to me. The sad part is, my PC doctor's own children have celiac and he could not see all my symptoms...
  12. I use NOW brand Methyl B-12 because it is soy, dairy and gluten free and not very expensive and it worked to get my levels up.
  13. BRAVO!!! I feel the same way!!! Thanks for saying this!! I can't wrap my brain around it sometimes---how I have been affected from head to toe, inside and out, dozens of debilitating symptoms that were leading me to a wheelchair, a mental health ward or a coffin, had I not been so persistent.....the potty issue is just a fraction of all that has happened...
  14. Meatie girl! Great minds think alike. that's exactly what I was saying!!! ...I mean, really...he is pretty IRRITABLE!! (of course, I tend to think all irritable people I know may be celiacs)...LOL LOL
  15. I was surprised. We did know gluten is in dog and cat food, but silly me, I forgot to check the treats!! If it helps you out, I am glad I told the story!
  16. Not sure what forum this belongs in???....just sharing a funny gluten-related "panic" moment. We give our cat gluten-free food called BG-- Before Grains. It is supposed to be better for her, not necessarily so I can eat it with her But, I had some treats in the pantry that were our former cat's (she died in Aug. and Bella came to us right after...
  17. Gee, I am no techie, but I would think one TWEET or one Facebook post from someone would start that ball rolling.....does anyone do either of those??
  18. Hi Lisa, here's a list you can check! Open Original Shared Link
  19. once you go viral...it's hard to "take it back"...he can run, but he can't hide....scurry, little mouse, scurry....!! BTW, he trashed EVERYONE on his page, not just us...he is one angry, messed up dude....sad...
  20. thanks! yes, I have been using the methyl form sublingually for 4 years. THAT's why I was so pissed off about developing yet another form of anemia...if they had just tested that level as well...geesh!
  21. I AGREE COMPLETELY. I thought about minding my own business after already giving you my 2 cents worth earlier in this post, because I do not know you or your man, but as zus888 stated above: ALL KINDS OF ALARM BELLS ARE GOING OFF HERE!! You need to run, not walk away from this guy. I'm going to send you a private message.
  22. WOW! the more I read in the wake of the uproar he created, the more I applaud the gluten-free community (YAAY!!) and the fast shut-down of this guy's maniacal rants...talk about strength in numbers...
  23. To answer your question, Larabars are made with dates, nuts, dried fruits, some are made with coconut, chocolate...gluten-free and dairy free, soy free...and yummy
