  1. BUT the Lay's bag says "Gluten Free" too!! so much for that!! I'll try the Utz..Hubby says we should eat Cape Cod brand as we KNOW that's all they make at their factory ...thanks!
  2. You know, I think that has something to do with it. I have done a pile of reading about GMOs in the last day and, wow, what a can of worms that is. I hadn't really known what it was all about before now. I am going to be watching for soy now.. and some other things too. (Note - ma new chinny photo... )

  3. You know, I have been wondering about Lay's chips. They are the one thing I "sneak" from time to time. I eat NO OTHER PACKAGED FOODS!! and I,too get flushed face, scratchy throat and short of breath!! OMG!! I have wondered what was messing with me!! Maybe that's it for me, too ...WOW.... Thanks for posting this!! It's been a mystery....I feel like an idiot...
  4. Zack, I know what you are doing, kiddo..I did the same thing. Then, I realized I was just making myself crazy with that thinking. I just reread this whole post so I can try to help. I am going to give you the mother of all pep-talks now...LOL...ready??!! 1. Here is a link to an article (on this site) listing foods and ingredients to AVOID...
  5. That's not a bunny... it's a chincilla.. but sometimes I call him a 'cute bunny'. They are sweet like bunnies.

Yes, the moderator told me too.. so something caused me to react to Tums.. but I don't know what.

  6. No question is stupid! Not here, anyway!! It's a learning process and we have all been there. I tend to "over- think" stuff too because I am being super cautious and tired of feeling crappy! . As for sharing ---well, CC is possible from just about anything, I have concluded. If it will sent your mind at ease, get your own tube.
  7. I think TUMS have soy in them? I know store (generic)brands do anyway. They bother me too and I can't eat soy. Just a thought.
  8. Hi Brigit, This is a difficult question to answer because everyone is different and since I do not know what your B-12 or magnesium levels are right now, it is tough to say HOW MUCH you should be taking. What did your blood work indicate? Did your doctor tell you to take supplements? I take B-12 sublingual 1000mcg. because my B-12 was tanked...
  9. FC, Tums (which I used to live on) have soy in them. Is soy an issue for you? It is for some of us. I found that digestive enzymes helped me more with stomach burning than anything else. I sometimes feel like I should feel BETTER by now (it's only 2 months) but I know I have been ravaged by this thing for my whole life, so I try to be patient. ...
  10. ah man....lobstah and buttah..that's the stuff ....really wicked pissah (yeah, I grew up in Bahston) love the whole bellies... yum!! my mouth is watterin ova heah in Noo Yawk....drool.....
  11. Thanks again! I'll see what happens if I take these foods out. How long before you noticed an improvement?
  12. FC! Hearing you are feeling well and looking better is very encouraging to the rest of us! Thank you! NMTHOMMY-- It's too hard to do this alone, hon. The whole family needs to be completely aware of celiac disease and what devastating effects non-compliance will bring. You have been there for your family and now, your family needs to support...
  13. I saw your comment on one of the threads on being born on Thanksgiving...my husband was born on Thanksgiving 1973...Nov 22... loks like you guys share the same birthdate (maybe different years, but still, that's kinda cool!!)

  14. Hi you! well, I told you my thoughts about this in a PM and I am glad to see you went for it! You go, girl!! ..and you know I wish you all the best in your interviews and..of course, every day!! You rock on, Raven! XXOO PS... as soon as mine grows back in more, you KNOW I'm going for it, too!! LOL
  15. My Mom's homemade apple pie. It is beyond delicious--truly the BEST pie in the world-- and it was my "birthday cake" my whole life. Every bite was orgasmic. I was born on Thanksgiving. Last Thanksgiving, she did not make it for the family-- so I wouldn't feel bad. I cried anyway. My husband's fresh baked French bread...crispy on the outside and squishy...
  16. Hi and welcome! It's GREAT you have reduced your migraines!! awesome!! I agree--the wise people on here know more than anyone in the medical community. No one "gets it" like another one with the same condition. I love this forum! Like you, I had years of suffering and am newly gluten-free since January 1. I see some improvements, mostly in...
  17. Hi Bea, Thanks for the thoughts! I do not take aspirin so I do not know how I react. I only tried the white willow bark a few weeks ago at the suggestion of my PT/ND. She said it worked as well as pain medication. um, nope, it didn't for me! I looked up foods with salicylics at your suggestion. Here's the thing. My mouth, throat BURN 24/7 and...
  18. Me too, kiddo, me too!!. I have had a zillion problems for most of my life. Never put it together until now. I am sure my Dad had it, but he died a few years ago and it's too late for me to save him. Frankly, that is right around the time I really went over the edge and started the MAJOR league symptoms that have crippled me. I am lucky my husband has...
  19. I am your "life of the party " twin here! In 1996, I was a healthy 140. I zoomed up to 215 lbs, no reason in particular except I had remarried after a rotten marriage and I was HAPPY and cooking up a storm and traveled when not working and I was enjoying life. I was still lively and active enough. Had aches and pains I attributed to my weight gain. Had ...
  20. I appreciate your thoughts! It is just another one of the ridiculous, painful symptoms that erupted with the disease. Burning mouth, red tongue is listed as a celiac symptom. I have researched BMS, too--and tried to eliminate all the possible causes of it. The GI 's NP said it s "just GERD"..baloney! I have no reflux any more. The allergist felt...
  21. RoseT Thanks for your thoughts. I am all for the natural approach. I have investigated every protocol there is and I have finally come to the conclusion that I am just not someone who benefits from them. Right now, I just take flaxseed oil and fish oil, along with a gluten-free/SF/DF multivitamin, D3, B-12, Cal/mag. That's all my stomach can handle...
  22. Thanks for your post and congrats on your success with the diet. That is AWESOME news AND very encouraging for those of us still new (I am 2 months in). Sorry I don't have a BJs around here to tell you if it's good or not, but hubby (who went gluten-free with me even though he didn't have to) says the Woodchuck hard ciders are good. And New Grist Beer...
  23. Oh yes! Muscle pain, joint pain, bone pain, lost muscle mass and tendon and ligaments sore, too---I have it all. (MRIs and blood tests say I am "normal", no RA, etc. "just" osteoarthritis ) A PT told me I can't even get relief until the gut clears from the gluten inflammation. (at least NOW I know why I am in so much pain after years of seeing several...
  24. No blisters on me either, just insane itching and burning skin (like a bad sunburn all the time)...horrid sensation. Sorry about the psoriasis. I know some others on here have that as well. It may clear up as well! I know exactly what you mean about wanting to be normal, hon...me, too. And the sooner the better!I say that all the time to my husband ...
  25. Hi Marc, I can't believe a GI doctor, knowing you have a celiac gene is telling you to eat gluten. I offer you this simple explanation from www.celiaccenter.org. celiac disease is a 3-pronged fork: 1. you must inherit the gene, 2. consume gluten, and 3. have the disease triggered. Common triggers may include stress, physical trauma...
