  1. I have read about it before (some people actually say they get sick from it) and you are right---there is plenty of controversy surrounding the rapeseed. I'll remove it from my diet and see what happens. Thanks!
  2. What ingredients do those ORGRAN crackers have - does it include Sorghum or pea flour? I don't know. I got so mad, I threw out the package
  3. WOW!! that's great!!THIS GIVES ME enormous HOPE!! Thank you for sharing this. mY mouth, tongue and throat have been burning since July '09 and it makes me cry. Every time I read a post by someone on here who had my symptoms and they WENT AWAY, I am encouraged more and more...!!
  4. Yes! I had the IgG food panel done last year. Showed SOY as "severe". That was the only food that registered as a problem. I do not eat any dairy either as my doctor suggested I remove it when I went gluten-free. If something else is bothering me, I'll be darned if I can figure it out. Some have suggested I wait a while as I am only gluten-free 5 weeks...
  5. kitties, doggies....I love them all!! and PS this thread is fun!!! . I am glad I wandered into this forum. I have spent so much time researching on here for MONTHS...and for the first time in so long, I am talking with you all about something other than why my stomach hurts. hooray!! I am enjoying all your stories...thanks!!
  6. Hi guys, I am wondering if canola oil can possibly be an issue for those us newly gluten-free? I have eaten gluten-free bread from a DEDICATED gluten-free restaurant/bakery twice and felt "glutened" but I KNOW the owner (a celiac) and I know it's NOT gluten causing me to feel this way. But it is just like a gluten reaction: I get foggy headed, nauseous,...
  7. Gracie was equally silly. She thought everyone and everything was to be made friends with. Not everyone liked her slurpy kisses however. Or the energetic wag of her tail that knocked down everything in her path. All the cats loved her. One would worm her way onto the dog bed with her and Gracie would HURRUMPH! and look at us like..really? does she have to...
  8. I want a LAB!! I want a LAB!! We had a black Lab, Gracie....what a sweetheart she was. Still miss her being underfoot. I love the pic of your doggie!! Looks just like Gracie--red collar and all!!
  9. It's a crazy story.... She appeared under our bushes last August, two days after our last remaining beloved cat took ill and had to be put to sleep. She was eating anything she could kill, covered in ticks, cuts, etc...so I started feeding her, thinking she was one of many kitties left on our dirt road. I was thinking of what to name her...Ella or...
  10. Many people with celiac do NOT have GI issues like diarrhea.!! Some have constipation and bloating. This is a mistake on the part of medical "professionals" who think that's the main symptom. Fatigue and neurological symptoms manifest first in many people. Or thyroid disease. Some have NO symptoms--it's called silent celiac. Of all the many bizarre and...
  11. Hi Marz!! I have had a sore, scratchy throat and "burny" mouth/tongue for almost 2 years. Like all my other symptoms, no one could explain it to me I definitely tie it to the gluten.Even drinking club soda hurt going down. At times, I felt like it would close right up. It had started to subside, along with the D and anxiety, etc... (I am...
  12. Hot dogs, huh?? LOL Mine involve cupcakes...YUM Thanks!! I appreciate hearing your story because it gives me hope and encouragement that things will improve in time. That's what I love so much about this site--everyone sharing their stories and giving hope to the rest of us!!I eagerly await improvement in my sleep--and all things---as I remain gluten...
  13. She's got BOTH of those!!!!. Guessing she just prefers mine?? LOL
  14. Our latest "adoptee" has had no in-house behavior training whatsoever. She was a neighbor's cat who was malnourished and left outside to fend for herself a lot. They let us "have her" upon request. We fattened her up--we thought she was a kitten, but she's actually 2. She's a sweet cat, but a bit of a brat. It's sort of like having a "wild child" LOL ...
  15. It often runs in families, so maybe!! and I was going to suggest having MUM go with you---maybe you need an enforcer of sorts! Best luck!!
  16. LOL well, I see that mushroom and I have the same minds...arming you with information!! Hope it helps!!
  17. CHLOE, Honey, print this off, circle all your symptoms and take it to the doctor. This guy clearly needs to know what's involved in CELIAC DISEASE. Hugs to you, GINNY Symptoms Related to Celiac Disease or Gluten Sensitivity This is a common question people ask in the face of a bewildering array of possible celiac disease and gluten sensitivity...
  18. Your symptoms are textbook celiac. Possibly a thyroid issue as well. Clearly, you are ILL. No one loses hair for no reason. That was a major complaint for me along with MAJOR weight loss. And for the record, I HAVE JAW pain and brown patches on my skin--sometimes an adrenal gland issue) Really, what's the big deal to him about testing you--it's blood...
  19. I thought everyone dreamed in color, textures, flavors :>) until I asked some friends & family and they said...uh, nope! Looked at me like I'm nuts:>)....some of my favorites have me flying and I can feel the wind on my face; I am eating a chocolate cupcake and it is awesome, I am talking with my Dad or someone else who has died and I can hear them...
  20. YES--I have this kind of sleep "problem" (although I do not recall the last time I slept more than 6 hours total--maybe 3 years ago??) I am "tired" but "wired"... I hope it will improve! Man, I have some major weird dreams. Always have had trouble sleeping through the night, even had a sleep study done but they couldn't tell me much. I dream VIVIDLY...
  21. Amen, sister!! If I were not my own best advocate, I think I'd either be in a wheelchair or mental health ward by now. Seriously, it was that bad.
  22. I tested NEG, too..but remained very sick and in pain for years. Go with your instincts! Tests can be wrong/inaccurate (even my PC doctor said this! Imagine that.) LOL Yes, people are much more savvy about food sensitivities now and will often accomodate those of us who need it. One chef came out to meet me because his son has a severe allergy to peanuts...
  23. Soy is ugly for me. Makes me sick, foggy headed and my mouth burns. Gives me D just like gluten. I did read "The Whole Soy Story" and even if I actually did like tofu (I do not...nasty texture, you might as well eat rubber erasers) I would never willingly eat SOY now!! Plus, it messes with your hormones. AVOID it!! Ditto on the ENJOY life boom-choco...
  24. Ditto on the tear-filled eyes!!...and very grateful for the messages, the support and the HOPE you all provide. I have felt so alone dealing with all of this until now. I fought hard to get well, but I needed compassionate support from those who also deal with this disease. My family --as much as they try--just does not "get it"--but YOU all do. I , too...
