  1. cass---Thyroid is a good idea, but I had mine checked repeatedly. No nodules, low antibodies. TSH good. Thanks for the thought!! G.
  2. While you are still healing, perhaps it is possible that nuts are just difficult to digest? Or maybe just one of the tree nuts/seeds/or peanuts is the culprit? Mixing them together in your granola with all the other ingredients would make for some detective work figuring out which one is giving you the GI distress. Maybe you could try eating each of...
  3. I ask so many questions on here about seemingly bizarre questions and no one thinks they are stupid. Feel safe to ask anything--these people have seen it all/heard it all/experienced it all! And someone answers with kindness! That said...I HAVE had this same sensation. As if I have swallowed a giant pill and it hurts like heck!? One day, just drinking...
  4. I commiserate (6 weeks for me) and I agree with the wise answers provided here. It is an up and down healing process and the best advice is...stay the course. I am assured by so many others who have "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" that things will get better and better as long as you stay completely gluten-free and patient. That's what I hang on to. Hang...
  5. Wish I could drink lemon water! One of my bizarre symptoms is a burning tongue/mouth/throat and citrus ... feels like barbed wire going down. (hopefully it will resolve as I heal.) I, too, have read that lemon water is a cleanse for the liver... BUT also erodes teeth enamel. Since my enamel has also been impacted by this, I am guessing I'll be steering...
  6. Sounds delish...but, hubby asks a good question..WHICH Bob's gluten free flour should I use? (there are a few of them) thanks for the tip!!
  7. I am reading this in Feb. and laughing my butt off...My MIL could have written this! Thanks for the giggle...it's freezing cold and snowing and I needed a good laugh!!
  8. Hi Aunt Jayne! (I have one of those. She's my favorite aunt) I have decided that anything is possible when dealing with the demon GLUTEN. Furthermore, there do not seem to be any cast-in-stone, absolute guidelines for dealing with gluten, topical or ingested. I have researched this thing to death for a year and asked a hundred questions on here and...
  9. Thanks for sharing!!! . They are cute and fun! I agree--they are little healers. I shared my story of Bella (in another thread ):> ) She was a kitty in need, but frankly, she has been my gift and companion and healer too! She does this weird drag thing with her body along the floor---sort of like dusting!!??--and she even does under the bed LOL...
  10. I made the rice milk myself and it is super easy, but truth be told, I found that if I did not consume it fast enough (as I only use it on cereal or in my bread recipe) it spoiled rather quickly. Bummer! So, use it quickly. The Good Karma rice milk can be purchased in bulk from places like Amazon. The cartons are small enough that I get through it without...
  11. ah, mushroom, don't feel bad. You did what you could! I wish we could save them all. After all these stories, I am very glad that I pressed the neighbor for ownership of Bella then. After 2 years of killing what she could to eat, she sure enjoys the cushy couch, the warm crackling fire and the life she should have had from the beginning. Right...
  12. thanks a bunch! I am thinking it is the FAT content issue as well. I am still healing.
  13. THANK YOU ALL for your responses! You guys are so great--especially with us "newbies" I THINK my problem is that I am still healing. The canola oil doesn't bother me all the time. I would think that if it were a real intolerance, I would react consistently. Grateful for your input!!
  14. I agree! Who cares about gluten? It's the cheese, ice cream, and milk I wish for....sigh.... Thanks for the encouragement!! I really need it right now as I am feeling like I still have such a long road....
  15. Aha! another 'round the world voyager!! Man, I get exhausted by some of the things I do in my sleep (does that make sense??) LOL When this was first "triggered" in me, I really had nightmares and several a night. Just awful!! I CANNOT WAIT for the night I sleep through the night once more. Thanks for sharing. It helps to know I am not the only "night...
  16. I am not sure. I know I have a problem with soy and I noticed raven does too..that's why I wondered if the soy lecithin--ALWAYS in chocolate candy bars--was a problem....?
  17. Ditto on the Digest Gold by Enzymedica. This helped to stop multiple digestive/bowel issues for me (I will spare you the graphic details ) I also vary the probiotics, as suggested by an MD and an ND. Most recent ones are by Custom Probiotics. I have also used Genestra brand powder sachets. Hope this helps!
  18. I switched from Rice Dream to Good Karma.
  19. I would like to eat one of those, (they sound yummy ) but doesn't the soy lecithin bother you?
  20. Maybe someone more experienced at this food labeling can help me...I feel as if the "gluten-free" label is not always a guarantee. This cereal is labeled gluten-free, so I "should be safe" ...right? I am suspicious of it only because I feel rather ill and racy right now after eating it. I eat it several times a week. And so, yes, I am having this feeling...
  21. It is for me! I feel as if I have been drugged and can barely make a sentence. I am just wondering... why you would eat gluten NOW after being gluten-free for so long?
  22. OMG!! HOLY mackeral!! My heart just soared and I burst into a smile. I felt like I was looking right into my Gracie's eyes!! They could be twins!! LOL (I know all labs look alike, but WoW!! ) He's a beauty.
  23. Boar's Head--gluten-free and good. Ask the deli person to wipe the blade before cutting yours. Just a thought!
  24. I read about the Rice Dream too...and after consuming it on a daily basis for a year, thought, NO wonder I still feel like crap. I have learned several hard lessons about packages/restaurant offerings that say gluten-free but I know darn well an hour later that it is a lie. Which leads me to my question. Maybe one of you can tell me? What about...
  25. I will give it up and see how I feel. Love your signature, BTW...Janis was a force of nature!
