  1. THANKS, GUYS! TO TWE: I love sweets too!! --and find myself craving something sweet throughout the day. I don't often indulge myself (this is weird because before going gluten-free, I wasn't a "craver" and before the celiac was "triggered" and I was sickened by all food and plunged down 90 lbs., I was A CHUBBY!!...LOL) Thanks for the suggestion...
  2. LOL...well, I taught English as a Second Language to students from around the world, so I have some practice in pronouncing beautiful, exotic names.!!..plus my Dad's family is Armenian---my last name was mangled all the time.... Thanks again --for your reply today and for so many others you have provided in my many posts.
  3. Thanks, "shroom"!!!...(hope that's okay-- giving you that nickname, cos that's what we call them in our house !!) LOL I'm going to give it a try.
  4. I lost 90 lbs. rapidly from celiac disease and I lost my hair and major muscle mass. I look like a little old lady naked. UGH. I am trying to regain some strength and I need more protein BUT I have to avoid dairy and soy and beans...that's a lot of protein sources to cut out....what can I do besides more meat/fish??? They are not appealing for breakfast...
  5. thank you for your reply! I did know that about carbs/pro/fat, but perhaps I am not eating enough protein overall. It's weird. I decided to forego the cereal this morning and instead, I ate a hard boiled egg ( I am not an egg fan:>), a banana and some V8 juice and it is pounding like mad right now...!! too much potassium? I don't know. My EKG...
  6. Hi guys! You have all been so helpful and encouraging, answering my many questions. I am doing better so far (gluten-free 6 weeks) in the tummy/bowels situation, less spacy- headed (hooray!) and overall, less fatigued. I am sooo encouraged. Sleep and pain still problematic, but I know it takes time! However, I feel "racy" and jittery after some meals...
  7. Zack, Yup, me too! I did many things just fine, yet could not recall entirely HOW the hell I did them because I felt like I was exhausted and spacey. I often wonder how much "smarter" I would have been with full brain power LOL. And I DO get that part about the fear. It's not stupid to feel that way---I don't blame you one bit. I always say "what...
  8. I really do know what you are feeling!! It IS a very scary feeling! I am amazed that you are doing so well in school dealing with this "sensation." You are not losing your grip, hon; I bet it is the effect of gluten. Many of us on here have had this awful experience. And yes, I have been to all the specialists, too. My brain is "normal" on an MRI. I...
  9. Thanks for the cyber ((HUG)) you made me smile Thank you :)

  10. Hi NOT ME! Thank you for this post!! I look and feel dreadful (nothing like I did just 2 years ago) BUT every time I read someone's post that says they feel "Awesome" , I am INCREDIBLY encouraged!! Good for you!! I agree---I missed 3 years of my life -- and once I feel better, I am going to take hubby and just TRAVEL and do whatever we feel like!! I guess...
  11. Hi! I have the same problem because many cereals have soy in them. I just cannot get myself to eat meat and veggies for breakfast, as some people suggest. I just can't! I am lucky I have an appetite at all. I used to eat Honey Bunches of Oats and Cheerios and Shredded Wheat with MILK before all this, so you can imagine how much I miss my hearty cereal!!...
  12. It does seem overwhelming, I know. Do not despair! You'll learn to be a CAREFUL reader of labels and a detective! I did tons of research and asked a lot of questions. I had help from people I know who are celiacs and from the amazingly helpful people on here. Look up "hidden sources of gluten"--google it!- and see what you find. Comprehensive lists do change...
  13. Add me to the group! A lifetime of clueless doctors, horrible pain, illness, miscarriages, surgeries, "oh, it's JUST IBS--take these drugs", "oh, it's probably fibro--take these drugs"...severe sudden weight loss, hair loss, lost muscle mass, teeth yellowing decaying rapidly, osteoarthritis...on and on...one doctor put me on METHOTREXATE because he...
  14. Does it contain tocopherol acetate? Tocopherols are derived from soy and wheat germ oil, I believe. May require some investigation. I stopped using anything with tocopherols in it because of a problem with soy and then learned about the wheat germ oil. The hand sanitizer made my hands raw! here's a previous thread on it. Hope it helps!
  15. Good for you! It's not sad ...it IS exciting! Anything that shows your body is working the way it should be is cause for celebration!! Go paint them red!!
  16. Janet, Thank you for your suggestion! I was hoping the oats were not an issue, but your point is well-taken and I will give them a break. Bummer--I love my oats. No self-respecting Irish lass wouldn't . It is good that your doctor is so helpful. My advice was...don't eat gluten or dairy for 6 months. (really, no kidding, doc!) That's it. But...
  17. I am so fortunate that hubby not only went gluten-free willingly, even giving up his beer, (hard cider works! ) but he even makes the bread for us. He INSISTED we change all the cutting boards, the toaster, the cookware...everything. He saw that in the beginning ( me "gluten-free" and him "not gluten-free") was still causing me issues, even though we had...
  18. Hi Rob, Your "slew of symptoms" sound much like mine. That burning joint and muscle pain and weakness, those trigger points that keep coming back after treatment? Yup, that's me! Makes my life hell--and has for 3 years. I feel as if I am on fire, too! Agonizing pain. PT, MT, acupuncture, chiro... NOTHING has helped. My physiatrist is stumped too. Told me...
  19. Thank you for these!! I'll get hubby right on them..he's our baker.
  20. why, thank you ma'am!! and lucky us, hubbies who cook (well, mine bakes)
  21. I know how you feel when things seem like they keep getting worse, instead of better. I hope you feel better soon! I think focusing on what we are grateful for is helpful and I appreciate you starting this topic! I try to remember to be grateful every morning, but sometimes the pain makes that very difficult indeed. I am grateful for this forum...
  22. I have come to the conclusion that I am still so inflamed that I feel as if everything is a problem. It's only been 6 weeks gluten-free. I hope oats are not a problem---I LOVE them and I do eat certified gluten-free oats. sigh...we'll see. Thanks for your thoughts!!!
  23. I'm betting the dairy is what's giving you the grief. I gave it up to speed healing and to see if it would stop the "D" and it did. (I do use ghee with no problem)Hopefully, I'll be able to add it back in later--I miss cheese, yogurt and ice cream . Good luck, kiddo!! Hang in there.
  24. Hi Nancy! I'm neither saintly nor bored ... but I AM interested! I feel for you because your story--like mine--is fraught with frustration, pain and a search for answers. Everyone here has had a journey unique to him/her, yet there is one constant....gluten. If gluten intolerance is an underlying issue related to your health problems, then a gluten...
  25. I'm so sorry, I was not very clear in that last post (my bad) Let me explain... I had the testing done BEFORE I gave up any foods!!. The test only showed SOY, when clearly I have a gluten issue. The Dr. told me just give up Soy (that it was okay to eat gluten, dairy etc. based on the test results)and do a rotation/elimination diet and "you'll be all...
