I echo Raven's words. As I said, I've been where you are. From the responses, it looks like lots of us have! At some point, you have to let it go and move forward...or you'll be stuck for good. You have your whole life ahead of you! I think Franklin said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. " I drove...

Jason, Yes. I often feel like I "should have " done things differently. I also have a lot of anger toward the medical profession for leaving me to suffer for years. I went through a bout with giarrdia myself back in 1999 and the GI doc never told me a thing about using probiotics after dousing me with antibiotics repeatedly. They symptom-treated me (it's...

ARCHIVED Swollen Itchy Eyelids
IrishHeart replied to IrishHeart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
thanks, Patti! My opthamologist called it "blepharitis." The eyelid --for some reason--accumulates "particles" and debris. The remedy? Keep it clean. (gee, thanks, doctor, I thought I was a clean person!) LOL Told me to do warm compresses and baby shampoo washes. So far, so good, but I also heard that lack of sufficient fatty acids can make create itchiness... -

ARCHIVED Swollen Itchy Eyelids
IrishHeart replied to IrishHeart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for your reply! yes, all the "other things" are more aggravating--and hard to figure out--that just the celiac. Unfortunately, I cannot tolerate benedryl. It makes me agitated (strange, I know) I tried other RX antihistamines---absolutely no help. The allergist says I have "no allegies".?really, then what's going on, doctor? LOL Nope, no dry... -
ARCHIVED Swollen Itchy Eyelids
IrishHeart posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Among the many strange symptoms I have I keep having issues with swollen, itchy eyelids (blepharitis) and I read it can be associated with celiac. I soak them, clean them and they go down. but I always feel like I'm in a state of "histamine" response. Again, I am newly diagnosed, so it may just be the gluten still. I first had it occur last year and it... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until My Symptoms Go Away?
IrishHeart replied to CourtneyLee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know how you feel...I wish it would go away NOW!! But, the reality is, the gut lining takes some time to heal. My doctor wouldn't even "ball park" it for me....just said "No gluten or dairy." (ya, I got that part!!) I did most of my "learning" about what to do from reading the posts on this site. My cousin, a celiac said..."give it 6 months to year"..... -
ARCHIVED Profile Information Questions
IrishHeart replied to IrishHeart's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Hi Luddie! an avatar is a picture, animated or otherwise that goes in the little box where your silhouette is. Hubbie helped me load the pic of our cat. If it weren't for him, I would have no computer savvy at all. He buys all the stuff, loads all the programs, teaches me how to use it ....and I retain just enough to turn the laptop on, type, and push enter... -
ARCHIVED Poll- How Tall Are You?
IrishHeart replied to Cinnamongirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
interesting poll! I am just 5'4"... which is a bummer because I wanted to be a professional dancer, but was too short:<( My sister, who I think may be celiac, too is 5'3".Brother 5'9" Dad was 5'8" and Mom 5'3". None of us are very tall. I was just DXed at age 53 after a long illness and a lifetime of issues I can now link to this. Hubby, however... -

ARCHIVED Anxiety While Detoxing
IrishHeart replied to mylilcappi's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes! I had a few things "rev up" like anxiety and trouble sleeping. I wondered about that, too until people on here said it was a common symptom after going gluten-free. Made me feel a lot better to know I wasn't the only one. It lasted three weeks for me, off and on, but everyone's different. I kept telling myself, " okay, relax, you know why it's happening... -

ARCHIVED Reflux And Myofascial Pain
IrishHeart replied to Martyg's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey Cass! Reading what people say on here has been more than validating for me...and yes! very comforting. While I would not wish such pain on anyone else, it DOES help to know I am not alone and that others "get it"! Everyone here has been so helpful and encouraging and even though in my heart I felt I would find an answer to all my pain and illness, I... -
ARCHIVED Reflux And Myofascial Pain

Hi Marty- Hope the protein drink helps!! I can relate to the pets issue. My "furry kids" are very important to me. It's difficult to have them become ill. Hope you get some relief soon. I have pain 24/7 from myofascial pain and I can't take a thing for it...3 years of this and my family wonders how I stay sane.(not sure I am at this point ) TrP injections... -
ARCHIVED Indigestion, Mood Swings, Newly Gluten-Free--Is This "normal"?
IrishHeart replied to IrishHeart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Honey, I will send you a copy!! LOL You are NOT crazy and you are NOT alone. This site was my number 1 research spot for many months before I joined this forum. I would "google" my bizarre symptoms--every single one --and a discussion on here would pop up and I started to think...OMG, I am right-I am not crazy and it is what I think it is!! I have learned... -
ARCHIVED Severe Gluten Withdrawals
IrishHeart replied to SeanxAhern's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi guys! I had the SAME symptoms the first few weeks---accelerated anxiety, difficulty sleeping, tummy and throat burning, feeling out of sorts, bloated, heart palps and yes! very hungry!! (which is good, I guess as I could not/did not want to eat much for a long time)....but lots of people on here told me this happens and it will pass. That made me feel... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Use Pancreatic Enzymes?
IrishHeart replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I understand totally. I have had more trouble "trying things" myself, I just cannot tolerate them, but this brand has really helped me and I have not had any bad reactions. Maybe you should read about it online first. It gets high reviews from consumers. I hope it helps you! -
ARCHIVED Reflux And Myofascial Pain
IrishHeart replied to Martyg's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Cass- I second your thoughts about the spine and nerve signals/pain pathways!! (I have learned so much from PTs and DOs and just reading all I can during the past few years trying to manage this burning muscle pain.) The muscles/tendons/fascia are greatly impacted by leaky guts and circulating toxins. Taut bands in a muscle can harbor trigger points and... -
ARCHIVED Reflux And Myofascial Pain
IrishHeart replied to Martyg's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Marty, I saw your topic header and thought...that's me! I am newly DXed (1 month ago)and still struggling with so many symptoms, so I am not sure I can be much help to you. I guess I just felt your frustration and feeling of "aloneness" and wanted to respond. I still suffer that heartburn/throat burning/nausea and hope it will resolve as I continue... -

ARCHIVED Insomnia Was Improving
IrishHeart replied to bluebonnet's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Another positive post about insomnia improving! THANKS and hooray!! Believe it or not, I even tried ativan, lunesta, seroquel, xanax, and valium...(not all at once LOL) and they left me wide awake, in pain and jittery from the drugs...geesh...no herbal stuff worked either. I gave up. I can say I do sleep better now, but 5 hours still just isn't enough.... -
ARCHIVED Indigestion, Mood Swings, Newly Gluten-Free--Is This "normal"?
IrishHeart replied to IrishHeart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I appreciate your response! The only yeast I would be ingesting would be from the bread my husband makes for us....that's a good thought! I'll take it out for a while and see if it helps. I tested neg for yeast, too...but I have learned that testing just is not accurate. I test NEG or "Normal" for everything, except for soybean... yet here I am sick as a... -

Thank you for your input! It's only been a month and I have been sick for a long time, so I figure it will be a while. just having the "D" stop has been a very good thing!! I am wondering about the corn myself. I'll just have to be patient, see what my body "tells me". It's been telling me things aren't right for some time now and I listened :>) ... -
