  1. I do not know what was wrong with me the other day, and now, but I could not answer this question very well when I was asked this by my Mother in law at a restaurant. I stumbled and fumbled about ingredients and cross contamination, but just could not spit out a logical, to the point, short, convincing reason as to why I cannot just order the chicken with...
  2. I use it for CC and have found it shortens the misery. I carry Gluten-zyme in my purse, that is the one I use. My Natureopathic doc friend gave me the first bottle I had. It took me nearly 2 years to go through it. I just bought my second bottle recently.
  3. Hey Sora, Pepcid is also a histamine 2 blocker. There are 4, this is what I got off of the internet: Histamine 2 blockers are familiar to most people as the over-the counter heartburn medications Tagamet (cimetidine), Pepcid, (famotidine), and Zantac (ranitidine). Axid (nizatidine) is less well known. These drugs also come in prescription strengths...
  4. Udi's hamburger buns are really good, so is their hotdog buns. They might work for you for now, until you get baking your own down good.
  5. Welcome to the board. You sure are taking your diagnoses well. I can't believe you attempted hamburger bun making on day 2, I guess that's because you are in Culinary Arts. On my 2nd day, I tried some gluten-free bread that tasted like a dry sponge. I was totally lost and bewildered. You are really taking this well. However, if you start not taking...
  6. Yep...it makes me wonder sometimes..........
  7. I do not not have Celiac's, I have a wheat allergy and am gluten sensitive. I did have a Celiac blood test, but it was negative, by the time my doc tested me, I had been gluten-free for a year. I did Gene testing and it showed that I do not have Celiac genes, I have gluten sensitive genes. My results: Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular...
  8. Hi Sora, the Zantac is still working for the airborne wheat, but has not helped me with my fragrance allergy at all. I'm still reacting to fragrances just as bad as I always have, but at least it's not as hard to avoid as airborne wheat, so I am grateful. Remember, they sell Zantac over the counter if you want to test it, and if you can't get to the doc...
  9. Thanks hon...I was hoping I didn't say anything out of line. I am absolutely, unequivocally, gluten free, No malt, no barley, no rye, no wheat, including the hidden crap that is in everything. Gluten is the devil and wreaks havoc on me. I am not in any way shape or form a gluten lite (the people I despise). I know that I am gluten sensitive...
  10. That is wonderful. We're a family!!!
  11. I never thought to much about food pantries, except for a tiny one near my house that is run by a church. They have a tiny thrift store attached, and use the money from the thrift store to buy food for the pantry. I shop there frequently. The people who volunteer, and the lady that runs it are all very nice. I asked them once if they had any people ever...
  12. If you ever need food, I'll send a giant care package of gluten free food your way (((((hugs)))))
  13. My husband's hypothyroid symptoms were extreme fatigue, he slept all the time, his face was very puffy, he gained 30 pounds, and he lost half his eyebrows (outer). He was cold all the time, he went bald, dry eyes (still does), crazy deep rough gravelly voice, high chloresterol, and memory loss. Here is a symptom checker. I didn't know that his eyebrow...
  14. I use to eat those when I was early out and never got sick, in fact I lived on them for awhile, while I figured out what I could eat. I actually forgot about them. I may have to get some of those again! YUM. Thanks for the reminder!
  15. Good question......
  16. Wow, that is amazing. The doc said something about taking one if I am reacting, or accidently ingest wheat. Your comment confirms what she said about emergency use.
  17. Gosh, I hope I didn't insult you I just meant I have more of a histamine reaction versus the big D and DH mostly. here are the notes from my Barley challenge, I never made it to the rye challenge, I just couldn't get myself to go there. However, the doc who prescribed the Zantac last week thought that my barley reaction/challenge was probably CC from...
  18. You hit the nail on the head. "simple solution" I would have never guessed that it could be so easy to fix. Yet, here I am, able to breath wheat without a violent histamine reaction....
  19. That is good to know. I knew there was a warning for osteoporosis for PPI's (proton pump inhibitors), but I didn't know that Zantac has the same issue. It makes sense though. I'll need to up my calcium. My labs are good right now though. I had tests done is November....I'll be watching my calcium labs.
  20. LOL.....I understood...mostly...you done good. As soon as I get my Glutenologist degree, I'll be good to go though....
  21. Hi, I have a severe wheat allergy as well. After I went gluten free, I felt better in about a week, but not perfect. What finally made me feel perfect at home was changing shampoo (it has wheat), buying gluten free make-up, deoderant, and lotions. I also, had to take all gluten out of the house, buy new pans and a new toaster. I learned the hard way about...
  22. (((thank you))))
  23. That is awesome!!! Are you still taking Zantac? If so, have you had any adverse reactions to it's prolonged use? So far, I've had no adverse reactions, just positive good response to it.
  24. So some docs, and PA's know about it.....I wish they all did, I could have been helped a long time ago. Since I started taking Zantac, I've educated a doctor, a P.A. friend, and my Nurse practioner sister in law about it. None had heard of using Zantac for allergies. I hope my efforts help others get their lives back. Your P.A. friend is smart.
