  1. Hi Simona, I was diagnosed with POTs back in 2005 and Celiac Disease finally in 2010. I definitely believe for me that the two are related. I could not believe that shortly after going on the gluten free diet that most of my POTs symptoms started to improve dramatically. I used to have to worry about passing out on a daily basis and just trying to get...

  3. Thanks! Yeah, milk seems to be my biggest offender. I was reacting from even a small amount of milk froth on a cappuccino. Well, at least there's hope I can try to add it back sometime in the future!
  4. I was diagnosed a year ago with Celiac disease and have been strict about my diet ever since. I had been able to eat dairy after my diagnosis, but I've noticed in the past couple of months I seem to be reacting after having dairy. I've tested it out on several occasions, where I will go without dairy for a few days then have a glass of milk. Within 15-...
  5. I have not had mine go up, however I did have elevated cholesterol prior to my diagnosis. I did not want to go on a statin since I am usually THAT person that gets all the bizarre side effects they tell you on the commercials, so my doctor has me taking fish oil instead twice a day. I have to say it works great with no side effects. My cholesterol came...
  6. I had been missing ice cream sandwiches and was so excited when I found them in the store. They are really good, but unfortunately I think I am too sensitive as I started to feel glutened shortly after eating one. After rechecking the package I saw they are manufactured in the same facility as wheat. My husband who is not Celiac ended up finishing the...
  7. Same here! I had pain for years on my side and kept getting ultrasounds which showed no gallstones. Finally I went to another doctor in so much pain and he asked if I ever had a Hidascan which of course none of the doctors before mentioned. I had the Hidascan in 09 and my gallbladder was only functioning at 13%. I had it out in Oct of that year and I...
  8. When I was first diagnosed I used to devour Amy's Cheese Enchilada dinner. It tasted so good to me. Unfortunately though I noticed after awhile that I started to have a reaction after eating it so I haven't had one in about 8 months. I know some of the other people on the forum have mentioned a problem as well with some of Amy's products. Not sure if...
  9. Happy Anniversary! You and I share the same diagnosis date!
  10. Chipotle is one of my regular go to places for fast food when I have to eat out. Most locations I've gone to are very aware of cc as well. If you mention you have celiac disease or a wheat allergy they will wash their hands, change gloves and walk your food all the way through the line so no one else touches it. Some others are Wendy's, Chick fil a, and...
  11. Hi there! My husband and I are planning to visit Barcelona next year so I have been doing a little digging. I ran across this blog that talks a little bit about gluten-free dining in Barcelona which may help a bit. Open Original Shared Link
  12. I lost about 10lbs in the first few months, but gained about half of it back once I started to figure out everything I could eat.
  13. I completely understand. I was telling my husband how hard it can be to try and relax when going out to eat since my diagnosis. You have to put your trust and your health in someone else's hands and hope they care enough to not get you sick. I have always loved food and going out to dinner so it's been a tough adjustment for me. Hope the rest of your trip...
  14. I'm so sorry you are having such a rough trip. I went to Singapore years ago before my diagnosis, but I do remember some more western restaurants there when I went such as Morton's steakhouse. You may need to seek those types of restaurants out more than the traditional cuisine. Wishing you better days of health and eating for the rest of your trip!!
  15. I had a similar experience when calling a restaurant to see if they could accomadate me during a business trip. I spoke with the hostess who was sure they could provide some gluten free options and put me on hold to go speak with the chef to confirm. After a 10 minute wait on hold she comes back and proceeds to tell me all of the items that they had that...
  16. I had a KitchenAid Artisan mixer already before my diagnosis and I don't know what I would do without it since I use it for so many other things as well. I definitely think it is a good investment for your kitchen. I do not have a bread maker and so far haven't really seen the need to get one since I seem to do alright so far without one.
  17. Congrats on your wedding! I hope you have as great of an experience as we did on our trip.
  18. Thanks!! I will have to try Pica Pica next time I go there. I was with a group most of the time for my meals so I was a little limited on where we went.
  19. I had a week long stay in San Francisco last month and was pleasantly surprised at how well everything went. When I was researching initially I didn't see many restaurants that had gluten free menus online so I felt a little nervous about going on this trip, but I had to think with San Francisco being such a large city with tons of restaurants they would...
  20. My husband and I just took our first vacation since my diagnosis last year and it was great so I thought I would share my experience. We booked through a travel agent who deals with a lot of clients who have celiac disease or are gluten intolerant so that helped tremendously in our research to find the best resort within our budget for my needs. She highly...
  21. I love this thread! I am thankful for an amazing husband who always makes me laugh and has cared for me through all my health issues. I am thankful for my diagnosis and the doctors who finally figured it out. I am thankful that since my diagnosis I can do so many things that I haven't been able to for years. Like standing up for more than...
  22. August 2010 for me! Coping much better with the changes and feeling alot better. I had no gastro issues really, but had been diagnosed with a neurological condition that effected my heart six years ago. Was completely shocked to find out all of my symptoms were really triggered by undiagnosed Celiac Disease.
  23. If you are feeling good and know that you are eating gluten free I would not worry just yet if your numbers haven't moved too much. I was told by my dr. that it is pretty common for antibodies to take awhile to drop for some people. I was one of those people that it took about 8 months to see decent improvement on my numbers and I know others that it took...
  24. I love Tinkyada for Lasagna! Cannot tell the difference at all.
  25. I know that Promise uses separate pans and utensils for anything gluten-free. They also bake the gluten-free pizzas in a separate oven. They have quite a few gluten-free items on the menu including some desserts. I've eaten at the Round Rock location the most since its close to where I work. Rome's just started offering a gluten-free crust and I believe...
