  1. Hi there, Someone actually posted about their Las Vegas Trip back in Nov this year which might be helpful. The subject was Las Vegas Experience. Have fun!!
  2. Sorry, just read that you have been gluten-free since Dec 2010. For me it has been since August 2010 and it took about 6 months for most of my POTs symptoms to get better.
  3. Hi there! Actually I was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)six years ago and now just this past year Celiac disease so I know exactly what you are talking about fortunately or unfortunately. Judging by the amount of damage to my intestines my doctors believe I've had Celiac Disease for many years and also believe this is what...
  4. Yea!! I think we have one right down the road from us. I'll have to give them a try. I've tried Promise, Craigo's and Rome's here in town. All are pretty good, but I heard from several others that Austin's was really good . I may be having pizza tonight!!
  5. I agree there is definitely an emotional aspect to eating after getting diagnosed. I travel some for work and I was always worried about not having something to eat so when I had an opportunity to eat I over ate. I also think part of the problem is before I was diagnosed I was always hungry and could eat a ton of food without gaining any weight. I think...
  6. I forgot to mention to check with your doctor if you are on any other meds or if you have kidney issues for the extra magnesium. My husband also had issues with constipation for years and swears by it now.
  7. Nuts, lots of veggies, and taking a daily magnesium (500mg) seems to work for me. Also, I excercise quite a bit and I notice when I don't I start to have issues.
  8. Almost all of Laura Mercier's products are gluten free and they list their ingredients on the website.
  9. Good, I hope it continues to spread like wildfire and he gets what he deserves! Creep!
  10. I really hope karma bites this guy in the rear. He definitely has alot of people talking about him...all negative however. Here was a post from a blog I found today. Open Original Shared Link Dear Damian, I am a gluten-free potential restaurant patron and as such, would like to educate you a bit on your anti-"gluten-free" rants on facebook. (For...
  11. Too funny, I do the same thing! I always ask my friends and husband how something gluteny they are eating tastes. I still can imagine what it tastes like from their description. It used to bother me when people talk about food, but it really doesn't anymore.
  12. I don't know if there are other circumstances involved in your relationship, but I can tell you from my experience I was a wreck after my diagnosis and I even told my husband I wanted him to leave me. We have always had a great marriage, but mentally I was not in a good frame of mind. I had been diagnosed with a condition that effected my heart back in...
  13. I had my Gallbladder out as well about a year before my diagnosis. I didn't have any stones either, but it was functioning around 10%.
  14. I get that as well. It's usually just on the front of my calves and there are some tiny bumps at times as well. After being diagnosed with Celiac I thought possibly I had DH as well, but Dr. said the rash would be very visible with DH. I cut out some of the processed gluten-free foods I was eating on a regular basis and that seems to have helped.
  15. I can totally understand where you are coming from. I was diagnosed back in August and was completely miserable for about the first three months watching others devour all of the delicious things I used to love in front of me and believing I would always feel deprived. About month four I started to realize not only how great I was feeling, but also all of...
  16. Here is a list I found complied on the web. Amy Yoder Begley (Competed in Beijing Olympics as a runner) Cedric Benson (NFL) Sarah Joy Brown (Actress on The Bold and the Beautiful) Meg Cabot (Author) Heidi Collins (former CNN anchor) Zooey Deschanel (Actress) Scott Michael Foster (Actor, currently on Greek) Jennifer Esposito Susie Essman...
  17. Reminds me of a joke. What do you call someone who finishes last in their class in medical school? Doctor In all seriousness sadly there are many out there who are uninformed about Celiac. I did actually have a pleasant experience the other day while eating out for my husband's b-day. Our waiter was wonderful and seemed to know so much about Celiac disease...
  18. I have been wondering the same thing about the NutThins. I absolutely love them so I hope that I am not reacting to them, but I did have some concerns when I read they were manufactured in the same facility as wheat. Curious if anyone else out there has had an issue with them.
  19. I just had the same thing happen to me, my blood test still showed elevated levels despite the fact that I have been very careful with all the foods I have been eating and have been feeling better too. When I got the results I rechecked everything I was eating and also my toiletries. I figured out that my hand sanitizer, hand lotion, face moisturizer and...
  20. Definitely you need to let yourself go through a grieving process. When I first was diagnosed it took me at least three or four months before I didn't have a good cry every few days, but now I'm finding I am so much happier. I try to focus on all the great things that have come from my diagnosis, like not passing out from my heart condition on a regular...
  21. Hi there! My husband and I are planning on going to a Sandals resort in the Bahamas in May and I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with them? This will be my first vacation since getting diagnosed with Celiac in 2010 so I am pretty nervous about being away from home for so long. Our travel agent is arranging for us to meet with the chef...
  22. Pizza definitely! For some reason Auntie Anne's pretzels get me everytime I walk by in the mall...sigh. Anyone else dream about eating gluten? Since I was diagnosed I dream about eating things I shouldn't and it seems so real I start getting upset thinking I shouldn't be eating this!!
