ARCHIVED Please Tell Me I'm Doing The Right Thing.
alex11602 replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Definitely doing the right thing. We just tell our family that they eat a certain way and that if they try to give them something not safe, they will not see our children. My youngest had major symptoms and my family was still not wanting to believe that gluten was the problem, but when they saw improvement they just let it go except for saying that a little... -
I can't eat them either, but I'm pretty sure it is only because of the sesame in them. And my girls didn't care for the taste, but I do not recall my youngest having a reaction to them.

ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
alex11602 replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I taught my 5 year old how to make cookies last night so we had the snickerdoodles she made and a smoothie with whatever I found in the fridge (grapes, watermelon, pineapple chunks, strawberries, a little bit of grapefruit juice, black cherry fruit preserves and peanut butter). -
ARCHIVED Ot- What Makes You Cry?
alex11602 replied to Nor-TX's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have cried for many of the reasons stated already and then many more too. I cried after I had my miscarriages, but I also cried when my two daughters were born because I had very difficult pregnancies. I cried when my youngest was very sick and the doctors said it was just how it would be and I cried when we both had our first mostly symptom free... -

Yes she does, at least she is picky in a good way though:) We are using basil from our garden and I think I have some white wine in the cabinet, it will be simple though since my 5 year old wants to make it. -
ARCHIVED How Much Would You Pay To Eat Your Favourite Gluten-Containing Treat?
alex11602 replied to kellynolan82's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The recipe I have calls for cooking a cup of rice in 4 cups of water with about a 1/4 tsp salt and a tsp of vanilla extract for about 20 minutes until the rice is tender and then putting around half of it in a blender to get the creaminess. Then mix everything together and add cinnamon to taste. I would be very sad without my rice pudding, it's kind of a... -

ARCHIVED How Much Would You Pay To Eat Your Favourite Gluten-Containing Treat?
alex11602 replied to kellynolan82's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought homemade rice pudding was only rice, water, vanilla, salt and sugar? And if it's not usually I have a recipe that just uses those ingredients if you were interested. As for the original question...I don't think I would pay anything, my favorite was always pasta and after finding out it was making me sick I can barely bring myself to eat... -

ARCHIVED Trying To Tone And Get In Better Shape
alex11602 replied to alex11602's topic in Sports and Fitness
Very true. Thank you. I am going to try walking, I will probably wait and have my husband walk with me since he is really patient about everything and maybe it would be better to not go by myself at first. Thank you again. -
ARCHIVED Trying To Tone And Get In Better Shape
alex11602 replied to alex11602's topic in Sports and Fitness
I went to the doctor about it a few times and they did an EKG 3 times when I was pregnant with my youngest, but then said that since it was always that high it was normal for me and just something I have to get used to. That was at a clinic type place and now I have no insurance there is no way I will be able to get another doc to see me so I am kind of lost... -
I need help! I have been gluten free for about 5 months now and I have lost about 60 lbs so far and I really need to start toning my body. I know that you are supposed to do sit ups and stuff to tone, but everything raises my heartrate really bad. My resting pulse is between 130 and 160 and then when I try to do simple exercises like walking around the block...

ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
alex11602 replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This morning I had enough energy to really make my girls breakfast so I made them almond flour pancakes, breakfast sausage and cut up watermelon and grapes. Now my oldest is running around saying that the healthy breakfast is making her run faster since she is alot healthier now. -
ARCHIVED Dark, Grainy Poop
alex11602 replied to AMom2010's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Please take her to the doctor. My daughter started having poop like that when she was around your daughters age and I knew from my grandmother that coffee ground poop almost always meant old blood so I took her to the ER and they tested it and it was indeed blood. Since we did not have insurance all they told us was that it most likely meant intestinal bleeding... -

ARCHIVED Can You Eat Gluten-Free Oats?
alex11602 replied to Skylark's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I keep saying that I am going to try them, but I'm too chicken to actually do it. Before I went gluten free I loved oatmeal though so hopefully I wouldn't react to them (fingers crossed for whenever I get up the nerve to try them). -

I wish I knew...I had planned on having taco chicken, coat chicken with taco season and pan fry it then after it's mostly cook add salsa and let it soak up some flavor. We used to serve it with sour cream, but I'm not sure we will do that when we have it. -
ARCHIVED "will I Have To Be Gluten Free My Whole Life?"
alex11602 replied to come dance with me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I guess my oldest, who is 5, is a bit strange then because she freaks out at the thought of her or her little sister ever having gluten again. She questions everything if she does not see gluten free on a bag when it has an ingredient list and with family members she asks a couple of times to make sure they won't get sick. And my youngest probably won't remember... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Plus Milk Intolerances = Cookies?
alex11602 replied to PadmeMaster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Enjoy Life makes chocolate chips that are free of the top 8 allergens, not sure of any other ones though since we are soy free too so that takes away alot of other options. Something else to look for is dark chocolate because a pure one should have no milk added. -
ARCHIVED What To Do When New Allergies Develop.
alex11602 replied to Bee Vreeland's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I would wait til you felt better to add something else back in and since it could take a few days to react to something you would probably be better not adding things back in close together that way you are able to tell if you have a problem with a specific food. And for things that you are suspicious of I would reintroduce that at a much later date, with... -
