  1. Sounds like it's more likely old than gluten. Have you tried immodium or alka seltzer? Something like that might help settle your stomach a bit.
  2. Alive - Pearl Jam
  3. Hi gang, So one of the things that tipped me off to my gluten intolerance was that I lost about 15 lbs in about 6 months. I'm not a big guy to begin with - 5'6", normally 115-120 lbs. To those of you that lost weight - how long did it take to get it back? I'm not the most patient person in the world, so I'm just trying to keep from getting frustrated...
  4. Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
  5. I definitely had some mental related issues. I had mood swings that were really severe (will still get them if I get glutened), and was angry a lot of the time, which is NOT AT ALL like me. I was also having nocturnal panic attacks, which would put me out of commission for most of the next day. I would say try going gluten free, even if you're just...
  6. Whoops! Wrong page...trying again... Walk on - U2
  7. Ramble on - Led Zepplin And thanks for the Queen reference! (Great band!)
  8. Hi Brooklyn, Yes! If you'll be in the King of Prussia area (I used to work there),the area has a large number of chain restaraunts in the area that have gluten free menus and items, like Uno's. And you'll be within a short drive of a lot of other places. (Just beware of I-76 and driving that road around dinner time - you'll be in a parking lot). But...
  9. Hey Joe, I'm still new to gluten-free, but have been thinking the same thing lately about my cookware at home. I'm actually going to ikea after work tonight to get some new stuff. It's not the greatest cookware in the world (matches my cooking skills! ), but it get's the job done and is cheap.
  10. I agree with Josh. It depends on how much gluten I've taken in. Usually, the worst of my symptoms are the first several hours, but I do find that getting a good night of sleep does help. Then they will gradually go away over a week or week and a half, and I'm pretty close to 100% in two weeks.
  11. I'm with jhmom - I usually buy the Vans blueberry. (Hey, I'm bachelor. Cooking is not my forte!) Good stuff! "We can stay up late, swapping manly stories, and in the morning, I'm making waffles!" - Donkey from Shrek - couldn't resist.
  12. I definitely sleep better now that I'm gluten-free. I used to have "scream dreams," where it would be a nightmare that I would be in the middle of it and then scream in real life. It was quite a disturbing way to wake up at 2 a.m.! Haven't had one of those, lately, though. It's a good thing I'm single, and don't have a wife to smack me when that would...

I've been loving Kings of Leon lately! Have not gotten their most recent yet, but Only by the Night is AMAZING!!!
  14. Hey cdog, The short answer to your question is yes. I've been there, and am sort of there still in regards to my spirituality. I think my experience may have been slightly different than yours in that while I was sick from gluten, I actually had many doubts in my faith, and didn't really want anything to do with it. A lot of it was probably from being...
  15. My symptoms and the severity tend to depend on how much gluten. Like you said, I KNOW when I'm glutened. Usually there's a huge mood swing, or I'll get tired very suddenly, depending on the amount of gluten. Every time, I will get a pain in my stomach, which then will travel through my upper abdomen. A few hours later, I'll get some nasty acid reflux...
  16. Wendy's for fast food - their chili is pretty darn good! - is my go to place. I also have had success with the gluten free pizzas at Uno's. Also, look in your local area. I just found a local mom&pop italian place that has a HUGE gluten free menu - and after getting their take out, will probably be a regular customer there. Awesome! I have found...
  17. Hang in there Cruise! I had many of the same symptoms you have, same answer from the GI, and the gluten-free diet has helped GREATLY! Energy level through the roof, acid reflux has gone down quite a bit...the overall improvement blew my mind! Give it another week or two, especially since you were just glutened, and hopefully you will start to feel better...
  18. Check out the Chex cereals. There's several varities that are gluten free - you can't miss the gluten free label on the front of the box- and are cheaper than the gluten free specific brands. The cinnamon is pretty tasty! Might want to check out Nature's Path EnviroKids. They're along the same lines as Cap'n Crunch and the other likes, gluten free ...
  19. Don't have TMJ, but I definitely would grind my teeth at night before going gluten free. I have been glutened a few times since, and noticed the grinding/clenching again. You might want to talk to your dentist. I believe there are mouthgaurds that you wear at night that help relieve the TMJ.
