  1. I just wanted to put in my 2 cents~Just last month I read about a recent case study on a medical site where the woman in question was having a similar problem as yours. What they discovered is that it was her lotion/cosmetics causing a low but constant level of gluten. in addition to the other suggestions here I might double check your personal products...
  2. Thanks for all the support! Hopefully things remain calm (if you know what I mean!) I had really gotten so upset about my relapse because my symptoms had resolved so quickly after going gluten-free then it seemed as though nothing I did was making any difference. I had moved my 6month biopsy follow-up to an earlier date, thinking that something serious was...
  3. After my initial good response to going gluten-free~I had a 3~4 month bout of bad GI symptoms and had gotten really depressed and discouraged by it. Well we moved from our house the last weekend of January and at the same time I had been working more hours @ work~leaving me NO time to unpack anything but the basics. Starting about a week into living @ the...
  4. I have been gluten-free for only 5 months~I have noticed alot of my non~gi symptoms getting better and better since going gluten-free. my anxiety level has gone down ALOT! my insomnia and brain fog are almost gone, my short term memory has improved as well as my energy level. Good luck and Welcome!
  5. Ha, I'm doing the same thing in my head at work all the time. I know of at least 3 ppl I work with on a daily basis that have symptoms probably related to celiac. One who is my son's age (mid20's) has low vitamin D, exhaustion, achy joints, especially knees, constipation (we all share tmi where I work!LOL). Then there are 2 women with fibromyalgia, constipation...
  6. Hi, I just wanted to say that I too have noticed that I have MUCH less hair in the bottom of the tub after I shower! I also noticed, just this morning that i have new hair growing in around my temple area! It's about 1/2 inch long! Good to see some positive results!
  7. I am pretty new to this all too but I def. got glutened christmas eve, my stomach is just starting to get better now. Today is the first day that I had a normal bm and not had so much stomach pain and bloating. I think the time it takes to heal from a glutening is different for all of us. I also started out doing really well, then a few months into it my...
  8. Thanks IrishHeart! I hope you have a Happy New Year also!
  9. Hi, don't want to bring anyone down, it sounds like you all had a wonderful and safe christmas but I had a Major Fail! It was the first time in years that I did not have to work and was able to visit family (as well as my first gluten-free christmas). Well I put too much faith in them. I don't want to go into the details but needless to say that even though...
  10. Great to hear from you! I hope you and your family enjoy a very merry Christmas! PS: I work with doctors almost every day, it's good to prove them wrong!
  11. Ok,I think I have gotten to the bottom of my tummy troubles! I've been having tummy trouble again for at least a month, even went to the dr had my gallbladder, liver, pancreas checked.(all are ok) I noticed my symptoms flaring after a large snack on a batch of supposedly Gluten-free Casein-free chocolate chip cookies. I am not cf but am severely lactose...
  12. Thanks for the replys~yeah~ I know it' ok to speak up but it does make me uncomfortable to do it. It is my boss who is taking care of the ham~I. Will try to approach the subject of the ham with her~maybe I will offer to pick it up so I can check it for myself.
  13. Just wanted to share that I got a small confirmation that I am on the right track today. I had bloodwork done right before diagnosis that showed pretty elevated liver function #'s. Changing nothing except for going gluten-free has lowered them to well within the normal range (lower end!) I am pretty excited because even though I've been having some digestive...
  14. Ok, I'm not sure if I had an attack of it the other day at work and looking for an opinion (or 2) as to whether I did or not. At work my department is rather small-20 or so, we get alot of meals bought for us that I can't partake in. At a meeting the other day the subject of our own dept holiday lunch came up-dept supplies main course, we bring sides. So...
  15. I read, in a medical journal, about fecal transplant being very successful for ppl being treated for chronic D that is caused by major infections like C~Diff. Supposedly it helps repopulate the good bacteria that was lost during the illness. I guess in theory it would work for other ppl but.... : o I don't know if a non gluten-free fecal implant would hurt...
  16. It will be today! I'm pretty excited, things have been kinda rough around here lately and our house could use a the cheering up it will bring! I'm with Raven, I hate to waste electricity so I don't do outside lights. I just love decorating the tree. My favorite part is going thru the ornaments and the memories associated with most of them!
  17. I have found that I can only drink about 2 glasses of wine and suffer a pretty bad hangover the next day . BUT...I can sip at least 5 of Jose or Patron and wake up feeling fine the next day! I think it's the sulfites, but more testing needs to be done to know for sure
  18. So glad you are feeling well enough to post an update! Sorry it was a rough first round, It can take a bit to recover from "coctail hour" lol! Whatever you are doing is working so keep it up! Good luck in round 2 and keep us updated~ prayers are coming your way!
  19. @J true! You got me! I have only been diagnosed since august and am so busy trying to get everything together I hadn't done the math! (It's always been my downfall! Lol) I guess I'm gonna have to eat a LOT more Udi's and kinn....(sp?)next year!
  20. First try for homemade pizza! Just a good (hopefully) old fashioned cheese pizza!!
  21. @Jestgar In the US you don't get a discount but you do get a tax write-off for the difference between the price of "regular" food and it's gluten-free substitute with an "official" diagnosis (biopsy).
  22. The ONLY reason I was able to get "officially" diagnosed (+bloodwork and biopsy) 6 years after gi dr told me I couldn't be celiac(-bloodwork) is because I "failed to mention" to my new gi dr that I had been tested before! Even the new one wouldn't diagnose me until he saw the pathology report even with poitive bloodwork and the completely scallopped and barren...
  23. Mamaw, unfortunately it may be all of the above (Except the dining out) We are on a very tight budget here and it has taken me since august to get just some basic commercial gluten-free products. I guess I will go back to rice (rice cooker has remained gluten-free) and cooking my food in tin foil (no cc). Then instead of expanding my pantry, work on getting...
  24. Increasingly over the last month or so my symptoms have returned worse than ever; D, cramps, gas, bloating etc. It actually seems worse than before diagnosis and going gluten-free. I am miserable. I have been gluten-free since august. I am exploring all possibilities for this; cc, other intolerances, possibly other issues. Possibly a ss? I am so tired of feeling...
  25. Dan, after reading a LOT of posts on here I realize it could be many things. Have you checked your toiletries (shampoo, soap, hand soap, etc?)for gluten? It could also be another sneaky food intolerance (corn, soy, eggs). Possibly cc? I would investigate these; that's what I'm in the process of doing for myself. I did have relief for a couple months gluten...
