  1. I've never tried that combo before (steak and M&C). Generally when i do a Steak its normally just said steak with a veggie. Remove the ranch from that salad and i'd eat it. Mac and cheese would go nicely with that.
  2. By itself, it cannot be used to diagnose, however, it acts as an additional piece of support. Somewhere between 20-30% of the population have these genes yet never develop celiac. It is also possible, but quite rare, to have celiac and not have the genes. I've heard that outside the US doctors test for more than just the dq8 and dq2, this may be the reason...
  3. Highly likely that is the culprit.
  4. Not at all. It just looks at your genetic code, looking for certain alleles related to those that can be in assosiation with celiac (such as HLA-DQ8 and HLA-DQ2).
  5. Yes, HLA is the gene typing. Celiac is genetic and all first degree relatives (parents, siblings, children) should be tested.
  6. Generally speaking, unless in the cases where it has gone undiagnosed for a long period of time, there probably won't be visible damage. They do, generally, say if they see something though from my experience.
  7. Neither are an issue, I believe, CC how ever is a major issue, especially in a bakery. Shortening is probably fat (think crisco), with some sugar (kinda like a butter frosting), and flavoring
  8. Left over soup and an apple.
  9. Mac and cheese... I'm n the middle of midterms at the moment, i need some comfort food.
  10. Fixed up the last of my soup from last night and realized as i was eating that i missed a spot at the very end of the handle
  11. Too long off of gluten for any celiac tests to come back positive, unless of course, he was still being cross contaminated on a day to day basis.
  12. So i discovered a way to remove dark spots from my stainless steel silverware. I thought i could no longer use it due to it, and when my last spot free spoon became spotted, I decided to look it up. Apparently, if you make a paste with water and baking soda it removes them. After a good hand washing, they (aka test spoon) look as good as new.
  13. Did they brush their teeth before they kissed you? CC issue there
  14. That can easily be a trigger. Well, since you've had the biopsy done, I'd think it would be safe to say to try the gluten free diet. There is quite a bit of info here for ya: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  15. Why is it the simplest soups taste the best? Salt, pepper, beef, olive oil (for cooking beef), and some carrots.
  16. For some reason i cannot do those chickens (i've only had Sams clubs ones, labeled gluten-free). They give me the worst bellyaches.
  17. From what i've seen, I'd say, yeah, it may indeed be celiac, especially since that was taken after a short period of being gluten free and still be positive. Are you going to do the biopsy?
  18. Soup was made instead. Its simmering at the moment.
  19. I really can't see well without mine. Even with my glasses, I cannot read a street sign until i'm right up on it. Though, on the flip side, if its up close, i can generally see it (like a few inches from my face). I also used to have a really bad lazy eye. I can certainly understand bad eyesight. The lowest line i can read on the chart without my glasses...
  20. Did your eyes swell at all when you had your reaction? If so, they could still be sensitive. Glasses are heavy? Wow, they've changed so much that you can get ones that are almost feather light and feel like nothing. I was surprised when i went to get my last pair. I opted out of getting those, but still.
  21. Indeed. I've decided to cook it up like ya would with beef strips used in wraps.
  22. Bring your own lunch and supplies? Think of it like a picnic. Or alternatively, you could eat before hand.
  23. So i put out a roast to thaw. I'm thinking of doing something different other than my soups, so planning on cutting it up and cooking up the pieces with a side of veggie. Now what to season it with. I may just do some salt and Pepper. Good idea? Any ideas on how to keep it tender? I know cooking it when its room temp and at a lower temp, but thats...
  24. I'm thinking it may be more of a bacteria issue. Its very possible that i picked it up from the carton or elsewhere. Had some this morning and i'm just fine (a little hungery though).
