I like the cheerleading and dance competitions. But they are kind of similar to gymnastics.

Have you tried contacting the Gluten Intolerance Group and asking them? They are based in Seattle and I believe a lot of the people who volunteer there have celiac disease, so they may even recommend their doctor. www.gluten.net I would call as opposed to e-mailing as they didn't answer my e-mail. And don't give up if they don't answer the phone...

I didn't vote because gymnastics wasn't on the list That's my favorite sport to watch. I also like volleyball, I'm not a huge sports fan though. My husband isn't either, which makes me very happy. My sister's husband is obsessed with sports and I'm so glad mine's not. I agree that the amount these people get paid is outrageous. But, really it...

Wow! You are a serious saltine lover! -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Ever Had This Before?
mytummyhurts replied to Diosa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jen - I think the brand is EnerG I'm not saying Tapioca bread is the greatest in the world. But I've liked it better than the rice breads I've had. And it may be an option if you can't eat rice. -

FYI - there is also tapioca bread. That's what I eat and I like it better than rice bread. -
ARCHIVED Gf, Saltines?
mytummyhurts replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, Tiffany, can you post your recipe? My main problem is like what Grant said, that when you don't feel well you want something quick and easy. Maybe the soup can be frozen though? -
I'm assuming that blood is okay but bone marrow is not with lupus.

ARCHIVED Gf, Saltines?
mytummyhurts replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
One thing I really miss is that in the past when I didn't feel good I would eat Lipton's chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers. Now I can't have either of those and they were perfect feeling icky foods. Of course, they were poisoning me even more! -
ARCHIVED Lawrys
mytummyhurts replied to sdore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm confused about the modified food starch here. So, this particular company WILL list anything containing gluten, right? So what's the food starch, is it corn? Or something else? I guess it's hard for me to explain what I'm talking about. If they will list gluten why not just list specifically what everything is? I guess I mean if they are vague on that... -
ARCHIVED Concerns About The Lay's Stax Hidden Valley Ranch
mytummyhurts replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, I bet they just use that name but the ingredients could be totally different. If it makes you feel any better I'm not crazy about the ranch ones anyways. I like the sour cream and onion and the cheddar cheese better! -
ARCHIVED Drink It Thru A Straw?
mytummyhurts replied to whitelacegal's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Didn't you hear that straws are magic and they are able to remove gluten? -
Yeah, I've thought about doing that too. I just haven't thought of anything cool yet.

ARCHIVED I Was Glutened...
mytummyhurts replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was glad too that I didn't get sick. But now I'm worried that if I am one of those people who doesn't have reactions when they get gluten that I may involuntarily eat it and not know that something has it in it and then eat it again. At least if you get sick you can sometimes trace it back to what you ate. I may be damaging my intestines and not even know... -
ARCHIVED I Was Glutened...

I have been gluten free for a couple months now and on Weds I ate something that I thought was gluten free, but I looked at the box after I started to eat it and it said right on it "contains wheat." I know that was a huge mistake, lesson learned. But, nothing bad happened. And I ate a good amount of it. At least a few bites. What does this mean? -
ARCHIVED Larabars
mytummyhurts replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If it's a health food company they did probably test it on people who really like health food since that is their target consumer. That is one thing that I have noticed, almost everything that is marketed as gluten-free is in the health food section and sometimes doesn't taste so good! -
ARCHIVED Larabars
mytummyhurts replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't tried Larabar. But I have tried other gluten-free bars. And most of them are gross. But of course I'm used to mainstream loaded down with junk bars. I tried BumbleBar and I didn't think it tasted bad, but the consistency is really weird. -
Good points, Michelle! I like them because they reach out and grab people. I think that (the braver) people will say, "Hey, what's celiac disease?" And this will give you an oppurtunity to talk about it. And the disease really does suck when you are going through ten years of horrible pain and symptoms to only find out it would of been so easily solved. I...

I don't know if this was my doing or if other people asked for it too. I asked butyoudontlooksick.com to start making Celiac Disease Sucks t-shirts. They already had Fibromyalgia ones and Lupus. And they wrote back to me and said they had added them. Check it out: Open Original Shared Link

Yay Jen! That's so cool! It makes me feel guilty because I was planning on writing a restaurant I went to about how good they did even though they had never even heard of celiac disease and how impressed I was with how they helped me. But I never got around to it. I could still write it now though, it's been a couple months. That's really exciting...

ARCHIVED I Want To Complain!
mytummyhurts replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have an unrelated doctor appointment tomorrow. It's just with my family doctor and I already had a few things I wanted to talk about, then this happened and I guess I'll talk about this too. I don't know what they'll do though. If I call my rheumatologist and try to make an appointment they won't be able to get me probably til August and my symptoms will... -
ARCHIVED Scared 2-b Gluten Free
mytummyhurts replied to sweeet-pea's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've tried to find cooking classes around here and I never could find a class just on learning how to cook. It was always something specialized, like vegetarian cooking or Indian food. I just want to learn how to cook in general to begin with! -
ARCHIVED I Want To Complain!
mytummyhurts replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, it started before I was glutened. I think that stress may sometimes bring it on and I experienced a lot of stress last weekend. I have already had blood tests done and my antibodies were high. But they can't say for sure that it is lupus because there's not a specific test that says yes you have it or no you don't. So my rheumatologist just said that... -
ARCHIVED Positive Olive Garden Experience
mytummyhurts replied to SharonF's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That's good to know. I wouldn't think to go there because they are italian and when I think italian I think pasta. But, now I know, thanks! -

I loved that story about the cats, Scotia! I can just see it happening. I love your story too, Shirley. I can totally picture the look on your dog's face! I love animals, they bring so much joy to our lives! It's possible that I may have lupus and I'm having a flare up right now. My joints are on fire and I'm starting to swell! Last night, my husband...
