ARCHIVED Help! Still Suffering From Hives After 4 Weeks!
key replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I too had a few hives this past week after being gluttened. I had them a while back too. Nothing in comparison to what you are talking about. I was curious with mine if it was related to a lotion or something. I don't know though, because I haven't had them recently and I didn't change lotion. I would change all of my laundry detergent, lotions and soaps... -
ARCHIVED Mccann's Irish Oatmeal & Udo's Oil 3-6-9
key replied to pete1976's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Tried Mccann's oats and so did my son. My son didn't seem to have the obvious symptoms right away. THen after eating them for two weeks he started having diarhea and not eating well. THe diarhea then lasted for a week after taking him off of them. When I was eating them. I got the bone pain back and mainly bloating and gas everyday. It was a bit strange,... -
ARCHIVED Egd Or Not? Help?
key replied to key's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Danielle, THanks for your reply. I am glad to know I am not alone. The bone pain is the worst for me right now. Like you though, I had chronic yeast, bruises(gone now), horrible pain in my stomach, heartburn, gas, bloating and you name it. All gone now, but i think I am suffering with the bone pain from being glutened majorly twice this month. I can't stand... -
My son also got sick after eating McDonalds Fries. Is their ketchup gluten-free? THat is the only thing I could think of that he had eaten different that day. Monica

ARCHIVED Egd Or Not? Help?
key replied to key's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Isn't it crazy we need to provide proof of this disease. It just dawned on me how silly that sounds. I guess that most people just feel uncomfortable with us having this. Ignorance doesn't help at all! People have asked me how I have made it to thirty with this and didn't know it. Well, I have always felt that I had something going on that wasn't normal.... -
ARCHIVED Egd Or Not? Help?
key replied to key's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for offering your opinion. It is strange when they know that doing the biopsy is probably going to be negative. I would be gluten free whether i had it done or not. My husband is a physician and he is understanding and supportive. He too thinks it is a bit odd to do the biopsy. I think my problem is that I have been gluttened so many times in the... -
Ok, now I am stressed and don't know what to do. I saw the GI doctor again today. I had blood tests about 6 months ago and they came back borderline celiac. My son has it too. Plus I had been gluten free for 5 weeks when I had that blood work done. I felt horrible before going gluten free. I had bruising, weight loss, constipation alternating with diarhea...

ARCHIVED 23 Month Old Daughter Possibly With Celiac...
key replied to Kassidy's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We too have been blessed with two kids with health problems. My celiac son also has Neurofibromatosis1(something I had never heard of before). Anyway, it took us probably 6 months to figure out what was going on. Really from 9months to 14 months were the worst. Don't beat yourself up about it. My son had had tests and I ended up figuring it out and he too... -
HI Katie, I too have grown up vegetarian, so it has been hard. I was diagnosed with my little son back in June. It isn't easy always. I can handle dairy and he is able to now some too, so that has helped, but we don't eat alot of it. Mainly cottage cheese and yogurt. I am really having to learn how to cook now. Finally, after eating ALOT of corn tacos, taco...

ARCHIVED Aching Bones
key replied to swittenauer's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry your husband is so miserable. I too can relate to having your bones ache. The worst on me is always my legs. It had gotten bad when I found out I had celiac and then got better, but now when I get gluten that is one of my symptoms. It is really hard to function when it happens. YOu think you are dying of some horrible bone cancer or something. Hard... -
ARCHIVED My Son Is 18months Old And Has Been Diagnosed Cd
key replied to aidansdaddy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We have tried alot of gluten-free products, but I will name our favorites. Pamela's pancake mix(everyone in our family love's these) Tinkyada pasta(wonderful and leftovers keep well) Kinnikinnick(especially english muffins and pizza crusts-very yummy and their donuts, but you don't need these and we eat them about every 3 months if that) Environkids-gluten... -
Lori, Thanks for the list of clinique products. AT first I didn't see the Do NOt on the bottom listings and thought, Oh great! I am not using any of the one's with gluten in them. For now I have cut out McCann's oats and that seems to have helped. Also some other food brands that I hadn't been able to contact. Thanks, Monica

I guess I will do the same thing. I think it would be easier if I was the only one that I had to worry about feeding! HA! I have three boys under 6 and I am homeschooling the oldest. I feel like my life is a bit chaotic! THen when you feel aweful it is hard to have the energy to do what you need to do. I just got rid of everything with wheat. I know I am...

Thanks Julie, I am assuming I am getting it from somewhere. I don't eat out anymore, because I am tired of being sick. I also wasn't being a hundred percent careful with some stuff. I think my motto now is that it has to say gluten free on it for me to eat it. AT least until I feel better again. What really irks me more then anything are brands that don...

I have really been depressed over this whole thing. I feel as if I am trying to stay gluten free, but I guess I just need to make some changes. When I started on the diet I felt great pretty soon after. I had had bone pain, especially in my legs, constipation, abdominal pain especially at night, irritability, mild depression, etc. All of the sudden about...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Cried Over This?
key replied to skoki-mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have to agree that the social aspect is the worst. I feel sort of isolated! If I go to socials that have food and I don't eat, because there isn't anything to eat without getting sick. Then I am thinking that everyone thinks I am crazy or anorexic! I am skinny and I know that is what they think. THat isn't true. Also I know that most of them don't understand... -
ARCHIVED 11 Month Old Slowly Starving To Death
key replied to amicamom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son's pediatrician and pediatric GI doctor diagnosed my son by weight gain and change in his behavior! His blood tests were negative too, but he had a VERY positive change from going gluten free. THe tests are just not accurate in children. My son was 13 months when he got tested. Then I found out about celiac and thought it sounded just like him. I... -
I am currently homeschooling my oldest son. He is 6 and he is in Kindergarten. WE are using a program called Abekka. I was SO nervous about it and almost sent him to a Christian school, but then felt I couldn't do it. I had prayed for two years about it, planned, researched, etc. I just really wanted to try it. I felt he was too young to go out and be constantly...

ARCHIVED Does Cd Permanently Stunt Growth?
key replied to carrielynn's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I wish there was more research on children catching up on growth once they are gluten free. My son has gained almost 4 pounds since being gluten free since May. Which is pretty good, but he is still SO tiny compared to other kids his age. He still wears 6-12 months. I have to agree though that clothes are crazy. I have three boys and the oldest is six. They... -

ARCHIVED Are Ketchup And Mustard Ok?
key replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
SHannon, It could make her sick. It has been four months with my son being gluten free and there were times I would get discouraged over him still having bad days or loose stools. I think he wasn't ready to digest certain foods other then gluten. He is much better now and tolerates alot more. SOmetimes I think high fat, dairy and high fiber can bother them... -
Shannon, I am so happy for you and Ella. It is such a huge relief to finally figure out what is going on. YOu will enjoy watching Ella every moment from now on. I think I enjoy my little celiac son twice as much, because he was sick and fussy for so long! He is now happy and healthy and thriving! I know you must be so frustrated with what your experience...

ARCHIVED Another Poop Question!
key replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Tamara, My son's still smaller too. He is in the 5th to 10th percentile for height now. He was like in the third before going gluten-free. He is in the negative 5th percentile for weight right now, but he was in the negative 15th before going gluten free, so we are progressing. Of course I think it should be even quicker. He has been gaining weight though... -

ARCHIVED Another Poop Question!
key replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Tamara, My son has been on the diet for three months and his stools are still soft and not really formed. We have had about two formed stools since he went gluten free. HE only has one or two a day now, which before it was way more and they were different then now. Very runny and undigested food. His still are strange at times and I don't know what is...
