  1. I really like Nature's Path Corn flakes. THe one's I eat are fruit juice sweetened. I really like them, but you can only eat corn flakes so often, without getting sick of them. Before gluten-free, I loved regular cheerios It is funny, because I tried that gluten-free Enjoylife Granola and thought IT was quite possibly the worst food I have eaten! It was...
  2. My son was diagnosed at 14 months and he is now 22 months old. He is very small for his age, even though he eats alot. You said your weight, but not your height. My husband barely weighs 150, if that. He is only 5'9 though. He looks normal to me and works out, so he is all muscle. He can eat whatever he wants and never gains any weight. He doesn't have...
  3. Vegenaise is I believe the best. It has a gold thing on it, as being best tasting by somebody! It is dairy and gluten free. MOnica
  4. I can relate to being discouraged about this diet, but encourage her to keep up her nourishment by eating three good meals a day. It will only make her more depressed if she isn't getting anything to eat. Try and help her see what positive things there are in her diet still. THat helps me. I just went through a face of being very down about this diet, but...
  5. My son loves crunchy cheetos(we use these in place of crackers). They are messy though. We also like Envirokids gluten-free vanilla animal cookies. We keep brown rice cooked and spaghetti noodles from Tinkyada. It helps to have stuff cooked on hand. I also like the personal pizza's made by Kinnikinnick. HE likes these alot. Also cheese sticks if he can have...
  6. Keep eating gluten. IT is only for a few more days. You don't want any doubts in your mind. I had borderline blood tests after being gluten free for 5 weeks. i tested myself several times, but I get sick everytime. If you don't get sick, then you will always question the result. i agree though, that even if your tests are negative you should not eat gluten...
  7. If I get quite a bit of gluten I get very nauseated. Then follows increased bm's and then constipation. Also I have severe aching in my legs and I am exhausted. Also more irritable unable to handle life as well for a day or so. It isn't fun at all. I would never willingly gluten myself. My tests were borderline for celiac and I didn't have a biopsy, because...
  8. I know McCann's isn't a true test of whether someone can eat oats and I didn't have the usual gluttening symptoms, but looking back I had weird bowel movements and increased frequency and horrible gas. Also I could not figure out why my legs ached so bad and I could hardly get out of bed. I was also more tired and felt moodier. My son didn't seem to react...
  9. Yes, this sort of happens to me. Not as much hourly, but more for a day or two and then gone. It was more constant when eating gluten. Now it is when I get gluten. AT least now I know why and can trace it to accidentally getting gluten. It is challenging, but as time goes on it does get easier and you won't make as many mistakes. Sometimes it takes learning...
  10. THe heart thing could be related to consuming gluten and not knowing it. THis has happened to me when I get gluten. Don't know about the swollen lymph node. Give your body time to adjust. It has only been three weeks, but glad you are feeling better. I too felt better right away. Monica
  11. Being 100%gluten-free has helped me. Also I drink Citrucel about once a day. It works well, without gas problems and is gluten-free. Also eating apples, pears and grapes would help maybe. Drink plenty of water if you are not already doing that and exercise daily. I have also used prunes and flaxseeds ground in applesauce, but these things can cause horrible...
  12. The best bread I ever had is called Deland bread from a bakery in FLorida. It is millet bread and was just awesome. It didn't make my son or I sick and I had no idea that there was even a risk of cross contamination, but it was wonderful. Light, can eat it as a sandwich without toasting it. Very wonderful, but now I don't know if there is some risk of it...
  13. I thought they would have been good when i bought them, but they were kind of freezer burnt. I guess I got a batch that had sat too long probably. I will try them again. Monica
  14. That is pretty funny! Good come back from a twelve year old! My favorite is my husbands grandmother. SHe just doesn't get it and never will. I have told her like three times in detail and she still doesn't believe me. She will act like she gets it one minute and then the next as if she never heard me before. She always asks me how I made it 30years without...
  15. Yeah, I have some here. THey are good. I like them with soup, since I haven't found a good cracker. Monica
  16. I was first so excited to know why I was so sick and why my stomach had hurt for so long, etc. I felt great for the first four months. THen started getting gluten I believe by not being as careful or my body became more sensitive over time. SO most of the time I feel great as long as there is no gluten. I just went through a couple of months of being depressed...

    ARCHIVED Quick Poll

Scottish, Irish and German on other side. Monica
  18. Citrucel is a good one. WOrks well, tastes not terrible if you like drinking orange soda, well no carbonation in it. I find you have to drink it fast or it gets gross. IT does say gluten free on it.
  19. WE have been gluten-free for nine months now and that is for my son and I. I think initially it is alot more expensive, because I wanted to substitute alot of things for the regular, but I am finding now that I have cut back alot on spending with this diet. We don't eat alot of bread and we stick to our favorite substitutes for gluten-free cooking. I will...
  20. Just thought I would let you know that I checked my ingredients on the Kinnikinnick products and they have tapioca, yeast, corn or rice flour for me. THose products don't bother me. I did use xanthum gum, which I noticed wasn't in the other one's. I don't know, maybe it was just something else entirely. Something definitely bothered me that night. I don't...
  21. Patti, Yup, I was doing great gluten-free for like 4-5 months and then bam! I can't stand it when I don't know what I have eaten that has made me not feel well, but for now I don't want to feel the way I felt the other night. I am scared to try anything baked anymore. I think I should just eat natural foods or something. Just thinking about such a large...
  22. I was feeling very fatigued and having aching in my legs. LIving on caffeine for survival to take care of my three kids. I had a full workup for vitamins and anemia. Actually my hgb was better then it has ever been. GUess the diet is working some. Anyway, I think it was because i was getting gluten. Make sure your thyroid is ok and I do exercise which can...

    ARCHIVED Depression

Denice, THe same thing happened to me. I was so happy to feel better emotionally and physically once going gluten free 7 months ago. I felt great for like 4 months or more. THen all of the sudden I think I must have become more sensitive to gluten and wasn't being careful enough maybe when cooking for the rest of my family. Also was in my shampoo and I...
  24. Patti, I made some sugar cookies the other night. THey had tapioca flour, rice flour and corn starch flour. I was so happy they turned out, but then I was SO sick that night. Not gluttening symptoms either. It just felt like a ball in my stomach for hours, belching, my food just wouldn't digest and I had some abdominal pain(ended up sitting up until 2am...
  25. Yup, I was told from his blood work that he didn't have celiac. My pastor came and prayed with us one night for my son and that very night a few hours later I found celiac on the computer and just knew it had to be that. So we went gluten free and low and behold he turned into a normal child in just three days. Normal poop in two weeks! It was a VERY stressful...
