Jen, I try and claim that promise too. Many times when I have reached the end of my rope, I have literally begged GOd to help me and He hasn't failed me yet, but I have been at some pretty low points, so if someone needs a therapist or medicine, then I think they should. Sometimes when I get real low, I believe it is because I am not taking care of myself...

ARCHIVED Is It Hard To Be Gf And Vegetarian?
key replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Been vegetarian for my whole life of 31 years. My religion has always thought it healthier. Now if you listen to what they are saying most places, it is healthier, if you don't fill up on little debbies and eat lots of processed food(which lots of vegetarians do)! I was concerned with my son a bit because he can't eat alot of dairy, not that I think he needs... -
ARCHIVED Still Reacting After Saturday Night....
key replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When I did that to my son the same thing happened. He was miserable for days! It was terrible and I knew he would never be given gluten willingly. My husband and I both felt sorry for him. He layed around and rollled around on the floor from his belly hurting, diarhea, etc. for a few days. It took about 4 days! Make sure that you have him 100% gluten free... -
Lisa, As Jen said, this isn't the worst thing in the world, but I can relate to how you feel. I think I have always had stomach aches on and off from gluten, but I wasn't having major problems, but for a couple of months when I found out. Before that i had had chronic yeast infections, etc. Anyway, I was having bone pain, depression, anxiety, stomach pain...

ARCHIVED Quick Vegetarian Recipe
key replied to pinkpei77's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I will have to look for the Franklin Farms products. Anything my son and I can eat like that would be great. Now if they would just make a sandwich "meat". Monica -
I am actually the opposite most of the time. I just don't eat sometimes, because I get sick of eating the same stuff day in and day out! I am vegetarian along with being gluten-free and I gave up alot of meat substitutes and don't know how to cook now! I eat a ton of Mexican food, because at least when I make that it feels like a complete meal. As far as...

ARCHIVED Does This Happen To Others, Or Am I Weirdo?
key replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had borderline blood tests and i just tell people I have it(I was gluten-free for 5 weeks before the tests). If they think there is any question of whether you have it, then some people I swear think you made it up! WHy on this earth would anyone make this up. Anyway, I wouldn't go through eating the wheat for the biopsy to know. I felt too sick before... -
ARCHIVED Horrible Restaurant Experience
key replied to NY Hubbers's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I got sick at PF CHang's once. I know they messed my order up, but didn't want to make a big scene about it. OF course I didn't realize this until I had eaten most of it, but had my suspicions. My case was a bit odd in that I had forgotten to order the lettuce wraps with tofu instead of chicken and gluten-free. Well they sent them out gluten-free with chicken... -
ARCHIVED Hidden Gluten In Drinks?
key replied to Billygoat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know about IBC drinks for sure, but I read on them one time Modified FOOd starch and didn't buy then, because of that. WHy there would be wheat in a drink is beyond me. FOod starch in a soda! OUr world tries to sabotage us celiacs! No, really though, it could have gluten in it, so I would definitely call them or something before drinking anymore... -

Vincent, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Ha, I just had to word it that way. I post here alot and see you. My son has celiac and my blood tests were borderline after being gluten free for 5months. SO anyway, It is frustrating wondering for sure, but now you know and are on the road to recovery. No more cheating! I don't cheat, because I get horribly sick, so not... -
ARCHIVED Quick Vegetarian Recipe
key replied to pinkpei77's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, I am vegetarian too and miss the substitutes very much. I eat a ton of mexican food now. I was going to tell you that Lightlife makes a vegetarian hotdog that are called TOfu Pups! THey are good. My son eats them cut up. It says on their site that they don't contain gluten. I have never been able to talk to them about cross contamination issues, but my... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Cream Of Mushroom Soup
key replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have used the Progresso cream of Mushroom soup. It is very good too, but has bigger mushrooms then the Campbell's. I can't get it at every grocery store though. Monica -
I saw the Gluten free pantry recipe and thought about using it and saw another one someone posted on here that they said was very good(it was similar to the one I used). Anyway, I was happy with them. I will try and post the recipe later, but the recipe is in one of Bette Hagman's cookbooks. I only have one of her cookbooks. Monica

Sorry you are sick alot. I know I felt a bit that way too. I got sick with two things that my family didn't get this year and I have three little kids. You would think they would get it. I am assuming that my immune system was down. Both times I got sick I had been exercising heavily and maybe my body wasn't used to it. I think exercise is very good, but...

Ok, I am SO happy I think I am glowing. I was going to make regular sugar cookies for my older kids to ice and put sprinkles on, but figured I better at least try to start learning stuff like this, because my baby that has celiac is 21 months and eventually will want some too. So I made the recipe in Bette Hagman's cookbook and they actually turned out. I...

Barry, I don't know about the wasabi and miso soup. I am vegetarian, but don't eat these things. As far as tofu goes, it is gluten free. I use the block of it. It better be! HMMM! Why would it have gluten in it? Lachoy makes a gluten free soy sauce. It is very hard to stay gluten free. I still have to cook for 3 families that eat regular food and then my...

ARCHIVED He Got Gluten...
key replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Cherie, I am an RN too. My doctors wrote Gluten intolerance on his chart. Which is good for insurance purposes anyway, but they diagnosed him just based on improved weight gain and just seeing him, they could tell he wasn't crabby and fussy constantly. He was engaging and happy! Anyway, my son's tests were all negative for celiac, because he was too young... -
ARCHIVED Muscle Soreness
key replied to julie5914's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yup, was feeling that way after being gluttened many times in one month. I feel alot better now, but I can relate totally. It looks like you haven't been diagnosed for too long. Try taking supplements for vitamins and eating well. I am sure you are already doing these things. I did feel alot worse after getting gluten. Make sure you are getting enough rest... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle People Who Refuse To Recognize This Celiac Stuff?
key replied to frustratedneicey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My husbands grandmother is like this. If I go to her house to eat I have to bring food for my son and I to eat. She doesn't understand how I could have lived my whole life and not known I had it. So when I come and have to bring our own food to eat, because she has never tried or even wanted to try to understand this disease, she then accuses me of not liking... -
ARCHIVED He Got Gluten...
key replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is the way my son was diagnosed. We read about celiac disease and I knew that had to be what he had. He got better. Tried some two weeks later, got sick again. Like your son he had never had normal stools before. I got my blood tested later and I had borderline positive blood work after five weeks on the diet. Your family will want you to keep him... -
Barry, Sorry you are still not gaining weight and not feeling well. How long have you been gluten free? HOpefully you will start feeling better and gaining weight soon. I am sure if you weighed that much before and only weigh 115lbs, that you don't feel very well. Make sure you are gluten free completely, so you can heal quickly. Checking all products....
