Kathy, I agree, I had six months of being SO much better gluten free and now I have so many problems with my stomach. It is VERY annoying. I had borderline blood results and so it is frustrating. Sometimes I wonder if I wasn't better off before, but I had horrible bloating before, C and D, bruising, exhaustion, etc., but now I am having heartburn, on and...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Not Really Gain Or Lose Weight After Becoming gluten-free?
key replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have lost about 2 lbs gluten free. I think I just don't eat as much. IT is hard being vegetarian. I had lost though before because of celiac. I am 5'2inches and 103lbs now. Everyone thinks I am too skinny. I am kind of sick of it. My husband thinks it is fine, but people think I should gain weight. I don't try either way. I just stay the same basically... -
Good for you for being able to kick the habit!@ As for me, I am terrible at quitting. I feel so much better when I am not drinking it for maybe three weeks straight and then for some reason I always fall back into the habit. Usually from a lack of sleep for a night or so and then it is a vicious cycle of being tired and not sleeping well, then more caffeine...

ARCHIVED Hair Loss And Misscarraiges/baby Died With Anencephaly
key replied to jennifervan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jennifer, Congratulations on adopting. I am considering adopting a little girl someday. I haven't looked into it much, but I have three boys. I would love to have a little girl, but all that we have been through with kids with health issues and then my health not being 100% makes me nervous to be pregnant again. I am waiting to see how I feel in a year... -
I drink a ton of water too! I am fine for awhile, but I think maybe more of my problem has to do with getting gluten. That seems to be when I have trouble. It is frustrating. I know I have celiac. My son has it and my blood tests were borderline after being gluten free for two months. I get sick when I eat wheat. Anyway, I am wondering if stress plays a role...

ARCHIVED Hair Loss And Misscarraiges/baby Died With Anencephaly
key replied to jennifervan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jennifer, I am sorry to hear about your losses. I can only imagine how hard it must be. I had undiagnosed celiac with my 3 kids. My oldest son had a birth defect called "sagittal Craniosynostosis" and required several surgeries on his skull bones to fix his mishapen head. He is fine now and looks beautiful, but the surgeries were depressing and hard to... -
I think the caffeine is causing me IBS symptoms and now possibly heartburn. I have drank plenty of stuff for years with caffeine. It has been my major hangup in life and now I have to give that up too!!? Where is the fun in my life?! I know, I am taking this rather rough. Well, gotta go, I am off to the doctor. We will see what he says, but I hate going to...

OH, I love caffeine, that isn't my problem. I just think it gives me IBS problems. Very annoying. I usually have drank diet pepsi, but sometimes will drink coffee for a few weeks and then quit for awhile, etc. The latest though is that it started giving me horrible heartburn, along with the IBS symptoms. SO I quit for a week, but I am such an addict. I started...

I am just curious if anyone else has problems with drinking caffiene? It seems to make me have abdominal pain, cause C and giving me heartburn for two weeks. At least that is what i am blaming it on. It is frustrating to not be able to drink it at all, but I was curious if others have problems with it. I quit for a week and feel SO much better. It is hard...

ARCHIVED Inconclusive Test
key replied to penguin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My IGg was very high and EMA or something that is most specific for celiac damage was almost positive. THey called it borderline. I had already been gluten-free for six weeks when I had the blood work done and felt much better, so I just decided to stay gluten-free. I would have the biopsy done though if I were you before starting the diet. It can be hard... -

ARCHIVED Child With Constipation With Celiac

Yeah, I think taking him off of dairy products would be your best bet. See how he does. Dairy is very constipating for some people. Monica -
ARCHIVED Need Some Help
key replied to momandgirls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son's test results were inconclusive, but his change in behavior and bowel movements, etc. were such a wonderful change after going gluten free, made it quite obvious that he has celiac disease. It doesn't hurt at all to do the diet and if her stomach aches go away, I am sure everyone will be thrilled. It sounds like to me she did test positive for celiac... -
ARCHIVED "processed In A Plant With Wheat"
key replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been thinking the same thing. I used to get regular pinto beans at Wal-mart and now they all say this. It is really annoying. The new laws aren't really SO helpful for us. It is very frustrating. I am wondering if flour is floating around my beans or if the flour is on the other end of the plant! It never ends! I really just want to buy my food and... -
ARCHIVED Feeding Tube Anyone?
key replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She definitely needs a team approach with the whole medical community if this is what she has. It is an emotional disorder as well as physical. I struggled in high school, but never got that bad. I can imagine just the diet being very difficult for her at her age and this is compounding the normal problems of adolescent girls. If she weighs what you say,... -
ARCHIVED Any Athletes Out There Who Had To Completely Stop Being Active
key replied to lemonade's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think that walking is a wonderful way to get out even when we aren't feeling like exercising hardcore. Getting outdoors and fresh air is very important for your energy too. Even when I don't feel very energetic, I walk at whatever pace I have the energy for. I feel better now and I run sometimes and speed walk some too. I also work out with lightweights... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
key replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I knew their fries were contaminated! I asked about this here awhile ago when my son was sick after eating their fries. HE rolled around on the floor for a whole evening crying and miserable in pain. Haven't ever given them to him again, because I just knew there was something wrong with them. HE hadn't eaten anything else. Sad to say, that I now don't trust... -
ARCHIVED Very Sick Teenager
key replied to michelle4boys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am sorry your son is so sick. He definitely should be tested for celiac. They don't have to have diarhea. ARe you seeing a pediatric Gastroenterologist? If you are, then you need to find another one and if you aren't you need to find one. I hope you find the answer soon. Does he having any gas or bloating with this? Hope you get some answers. Obviously... -
WHere do you live now? I am just curious, because my husband is a resident at UT med center here in Knoxville and we are trying to decide where we will settle. We really like it here ,but are considering other areas. I would like to plop myself at the beach, but cost of living is higher on the coast. Monica

Kathy, Yeah, You would think it would make matters worse, but it is the only thing that would relieve the horrible burning in my throat. I tried like three other OTC meds and they made things even worse. It is very gross and hope that not having coffee will make all the burning go away. I want to take the enzymes, but need to find a different brand i guess...

Karina, yeah, I am calling, but they specifically say gluten-free too! I just mix it in a small amount of water. I only took about a tsp., but I read you could take a Tablespoon. I just don't know if I could choke that down. I just basically throw into the back of my throat and swallow it fast. It works for me right away though. Very fast relief. I couldn...

Thank you SO much to the person that listed apple cider vinegar as helping. IT was the only thing to relieve my symptoms. I had tried tagamet, rolaids. My heartburn came out of no where about two weeks ago and the past three nights I have had to sleep sitting up. The acv does help. Gross though, so I might try the pills, but I am also trying not to drink...

ARCHIVED Malt Diastase
key replied to Rachel--24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I saw this post and was just wondering the same thing about the enzymes I just started taking. I too have been suffering the past few days I have been taking them. I think we really need to know the truth about this. It isn't fair for people to take something that says gluten free on it when it isn't. How do we find out the scoop. Has anyone called yet? Let... -
I too will pray for you. Hope you start feeling better. Will keep you in my prayers everyday until you are feeling better. Monica
