ARCHIVED An Update
key replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had something with my throat when I was pregnant with my first son and then 8 months after while breastfeeding. It was I believe my thyroid. I think it was swollen and would be worse sometimes during the day. Usually at the end of the day. IF felt like you said, that you had cried along time. It was VERY annoying. I even quit nursing my baby early to see... -
Karen, THanks SO much. I am going to go do it right now! Monica

ARCHIVED Getting Sick Easier Since gluten-free
key replied to rache's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes!!! I have been sicker this year then in my whole life! I have been gluten free for a year in the beginning of May. It is so frustrating. I don't understand it. I am starting to wonder what is wrong with me. I just got over having the flu. I was the only one in my family that didn't get a flu shot, but was the only one to get the flu in my house and I... -
ARCHIVED Corn Tortilla (?)
key replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Probably the seasoning and if they were flour tortilla's, yes maybe you did. I buy their crunchy taco's and they are safe. Monica -
Blood work is not accurate in small children. My son had negative blood work and responded massively to the diet! So if she is doing great, don't listen to what they are telling you. LIsten and look with your own eyes at how well your Emma is doing! Isn't that proof. It was with our son! Monica

It really sounds like you may have celiac disease to me. I never had an official diagnoses, but had borderline blood tests. There is a blood panel for celiac disease and if you could get a GI doctor to test you that would be great, but if you are already into natural stuff, etc. then you could just completely eliminate wheat, barley, rye and Oats. This includes...

Monica and Lori, I wrote the motto, but I can't say I always agree with it. I feel alot like LORI at times!!! Glad to know I am not the only one that feels sorry for myself at times. The worst is when you try so hard to feel better and fail so miserably! I told my husband yesterday that I am SO sick of having to call every company to find out if something...

Environkids makes a cereal called "Peanut Butter Panda Puffs" and "GOrilla MUnch". My kids that can eat gluten love these two cereals. They can be found at health food stores and even our Super Target has I think one of them. Also Nature's Path makes a great Cornflake that tastes really good. I know these probably aren't your favorite cereals and I really...

ARCHIVED Parasite - Comprehensive Parasitology Testing
key replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know anything about the tests, but if this isn't a normal weight for you, then maybe there is another problem. Epecially since you were at 110lbs for so long. I too wear a "0" and my clothes fall off. I can't gain weight either. I have often wondered if I had a Parasite, but don't reallly want to go through the testing. I don't know where I would... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take You To Get "well" After Being Gluttened?
key replied to key's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the tip on the Kettle chips and I will definitely not eat Bob's Redmill again. I thought maybe it was all in my head, but I ate it several times and same problem each time. It doesn't agree with me. Yeah, I think my problem is being gluttened so much recently that I don't even know what normal is anymore. If I can just get myself back to normal... -
ARCHIVED Am I Really That Sensitive?
key replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yup, this is where I am at too! Glad to know I am not the only one that is Up and down! I have a slew of products that I have come up with that may be making me sick, so I am just going to start cooking from scratch. I just don't trust anything right now. It is very frustrating. Splnd?? I don't know if I got that right, but you sound just like me! This... -

ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take You To Get "well" After Being Gluttened?
key replied to key's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Betty, I will look into that coffee, but I have heard that even decaf can give people trouble. The reason I think something else is bothering me and may be that I am getting gluttened, is that I feel that I have been gluttened lately. I had Kettle chips and didn't check about CC. Also had the yogurt. I also haven't been careful lately about products like... -
SOunds like it could be celiac. You could try and change doctors and get the full Celiac blood panel done. It would be good to go ahead and have the tests done. If you can't find a way to get them done, there are alot of us here that ended up going gluten free with inconclusive test results and had much relief! THere are all sorts of things to avoid if you...

ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill Pancake Mix
key replied to teankerbell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some people do react to Bob's and I believe I do. I have eaten the Mighty Tasty hot cereal for the last time! I had some yesterday morning and my stomach was killing me lastnight. Something in there definitely does not agree with me. There was recently another thread about this and some people said they do react, but probably more don't then do. Monica -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take You To Get "well" After Being Gluttened?
key posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know we have discussed this, but I was wondering how long it takes you guys to get over the stomach symptoms of being gluttened? I am trying to figure out if I am still getting gluten or if it is dairy or what? I am frustrated that I am not doing better at this. I have decided to not cook gluten for my kids anymore. I felt SO awesome for like four months... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done The Gluten Challenge?
key replied to cgilsing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This has been my experience too. I went gluten free two months before having the blood tests done and felt great. Blood tests came back borderline for celiac and my 2 year old son has it. My GI wanted me to start eating wheat for the biopsy, but I tried and got too sick to follow through with it. For now I won't do it. I have three little kids and can't... -
ARCHIVED Breads By Anna Question
key replied to jnclelland's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat Anna's breads, but haven't tried the yeast free bread. Can you give us an idea of what it is like. Texture wise and weight wise. Maybe that will help us to know if there is a difference. The regular is pretty light, but not the crust for me and I make mine in a bread maker. I like her bread, but use another one too. I alternate them, Gluten Free pantry... -
Some people just seem to not get it and I don't understand it. My husband saw how sick, bloated, the bruises, stomach aches, nausea and weight loss that celiac caused me and firmly supports me. Lollie, Your mom sounds just like mine. I had the anorexia from feeling sick all the time too and she swore that I was trying not to eat. I still haven't gained...

ARCHIVED Manufactured gluten-free Products
key replied to MallysMama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I have read that Godiva won't list whether there are gluten or not in their stuff, so most people won't eat their chocolate. I really haven't checked many of them. Other's can help more. Chocolate is the only good thing I haven't given up yet, so I know what you are saying about not wanting to know! I don't know which waffles I tried, but I swear... -
ARCHIVED Oats: Who Eats Them?
key replied to Ksmith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have tried McCann's and have a reaction. It isn't AS severe as when I am gluttened, but they definitely DO NOT agree with me and it is SO sad. My legs and joints ached while I tried reintroducing them. I was exhausted. Plus nauseated at some point everyday and loose stools. My son also with celiac reacts, but not as severely as when it is gluten from something... -
ARCHIVED Manufactured gluten-free Products
key replied to MallysMama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Obviously everyone's taste buds are so different! Annies Mac and cheese isn't very good to me, but I do buy it and use the cheese mix and use the noodles from Tinkyada pasta! It works great! THe pasta in the box just isn't very good to me and my son wouldn't eat it either. These are the things that others like in my family that don't have to be gluten... -
demidge, You said it very well!!! I am not being a complainer, but my life was easier before and traveling and eating out are not as easy for me. I have to cook two meals for my family separately every meal. I don't want to take my other kids bread, "meat substitutes" etc., just because of us. I miss these things and they don't have the disease and shouldn...

THanks for the hint. I have not tried this yet. I have tried bean flours, that taste beany and everything falls apart. Amaranth and Millet for pie crusts, but would be gritty for anything else. My problem seems to be that nothing lasts. They get stale really quick. What brand of Rice flour do you buy? Just curious, because I figured some is more fine then...
