ARCHIVED Does Glutening Bring On Reflux Flare-ups?
key replied to megsylvan2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yup, I believe it is happening to me too. When I get gluttened. I had this symptom before going gluten free mildly. I have been gluttened lately from somewhere and I am so frustrated not knowing where. I am sick of being sick. I was doing GREAT for two weeks and then bam. Here I sit again. Depressed not knowing where it came from. I am so ticked that I feel... -
ARCHIVED I Got My Blood Test Results Back Today!
key replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If he says it is in "your head", find another doctor. He sounds like he is arrogant and clueless about celiac disease. Sorry you have had this experience. For me, my blood tests were borderline. I was already gluten free for two months and so I didn't want to eat wheat to have the biopsy. My body told me I couldn't eat it and that was that. So do what you... -
ARCHIVED I Want To Quit The Diet
key replied to againstthegrain's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know if this is the case for anyone else, but it has been a year since my diagnoses and I think I am finally accepting things. I have been depressed over it, angry, frustrated, you name it! Now I see it as a better way of eating and it keeps me on track. When everyone else is grabbing fast food, pizza and junk, I am forced to make my own veges, fruits... -
Lollie, I am going to have to get some. Glad it helped you. Monica

I have been waking up with pain in my lower back near my kidneys. It feels like my kidney's ache. It isn't incompassitating yet, but has been happening for about a month now. I am 31 and falling apart. It is frustrating to say the least. I hope you figure out what is going on. I did have severe leg and pelvic pain and it was related to gluten, so it can cause...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
key replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Molly, I saw that you were diagnosed with GERD. WHat were you symptoms? How did you find out about corn and soy? What were you symptoms with that? I am wanting to know, because I am still having problems. THanks, Monica -
If his tests were inconclusive, then he probably has it. Testing isn't accurate in young children. Also if his stools have changed some, that is a good sign. Especially if they were light and get darker. My son had very pale stools before going gluten free. Also he had undigested food in his stools while eating gluten. LIke others have said, you should make...

Lollie, The same thing happens to me when I am gluttened. It is quite scarey too. I am so happy all the time and feel fine. If I get gluttened, I feel as if my world is falling apart. I will hate my life, want to get away from everyone and everything. It is very hard to deal with. Then as quickly as it came, it is gone. I don't understand how it happens...

ARCHIVED Great Grains gluten-free Bakery In Chattanooga
key replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I live in Knoxville, TN and I am only an hour and 15 minutes away from there. I am going to have to check it out soon. We were going to move there, but now we aren't. I would love for them to ship the stuff to our EarthFare here in Knoxville. That would be great if they could. It isn't that far here and I know they could sell the stuff if it is as good as... -
ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
key replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Molly, I see you can't have soy either. It would be a bit tough to get everything you need without it. Soy is a great protein source. I know there are people that disagree with this. Were you able to eat dairy and eggs though? If you were eating cheese, eggs and milk, it doesn't seem like you would have a problem being vegetarian? Did it help you gain weight... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
key replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, What symptoms are you having still?? Just curious. I too have symptoms of stuff still. I do feel better gluten free, but feel that there is something bothering me still. Have you tried giving up meat before? I know that sounds crazy, but I have many books on meat not being good and why. I think though that you are onto something with the corn and... -

ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
key replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have been vegetarian my whole life and I can't bring myself to eat meat. It is for health reasons that I don't eat it. It really isn't that good for you, like they would like you to think. My son can't have gluten either and I was talking to his pediatrician about whether he thought he was ok without it. He said he thinks he is better off without it. He... -
Vincent, I too need to give up dairy, but I know I can't have gluten either. I did read somewhere that they do have do rule dairy out, because it presents symptoms like celiac disease. I can't remember where I read it. I didn't know it could cause anemia though. Actually, I take that back. It does happen alot in children that consume alot of dairy, but they...

Jnkmnky, I don't know why, but Tums and Rolaids makes mine worse, I believe. I don't understand it at all. I think I do need to stay away from high fat, dairy and mainly coffee and diet soda. I don't know why Mt. Dew doesn't bother me. So strange. I don't like all the sugar in them though, so I really just need to give all my addictions up. I was on Prilosec...

My celiac son that is two is vegetarian and so am I. Always have been, so it wasn't an option to start eating it now. It is a bit more difficult for me, because we ate alot of "meat substitutes" made from gluten before. We mainly rely on beans, avocadoes, cheese, corn tortillas, all fruits, veges, cottage cheese, gluten-free pancakes, gluten-free breads ...
-
JnkMnky, I have the burning in my throat when I get heartburn. I don't have the actual food coming back up in my mouth or anything. I went off prilosec for a month without a problem. Then got careless about caffeine, mainly had coffee two days in a row and I was miserable. So this is my worst trigger. I am on prilosec again for three days, but gave up the...

ARCHIVED What Are Foods That We Would Like?
key replied to Neshy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Being vegetarian and gluten free, I would love to see gluten free pasta, at say Olive Garden. So I could take my son there. Also like someone said, more education for restaurants, so they understand celiac. Also I would love to go to any restaurant. Like Panera bread and get gluten free bread there. I know it is a dream world, but it would be wonderful to... -
Michael, I actually love the SIlk soymilk. The regular, chocolate and vanilla. We drink it all the time. I just didn't like the Silk Hazelnut creamer. Not sure about the French Vanilla, but maybe I will give it a try. Most everyone I know likes the Silk Soymilk, but most people say they like it better in cereal versus a cold glass of milk with a cookie....
-
I tried some Silk Hazelnut coffee creamer this morning in my coffee and It was NASTY!!! I don't know how they sell that product. Horrible! Anyway, so I had regular milk in my coffee. Can't you just have a tiny bit and it not bother you. My main problem is IBS with C. It isn't a normal C though. If I am not nauseated after having milk or whatever, can't I...

I was cracking up when I read your post! I had to share it with my hubby. Monica -
Vincent, I haven't tried the "milk" you use before or heard of it. What is it made from? Anyway, I wasn't referring to soy or rice milks. This is actually the tofu in a box or found in the cold section of your grocery store. It gives the smoothy the creamy texture. It sounds and looks gross, but it is so good. My three kids all love them. THey think they...

Vincent, I make a healthy smoothy. HEre it goes, 1 cup of Orange juice 1/5 Silken tofu block 5 or more large frozen strawberry's 1 Large Frozen Banana 1 Tlsp. Flaxseed oil (optional) This is a very yummy filling shake for breakfast or supper. My kids love it and it is healthy. You may want to sweeten it more if you like. I have tried soymilks, etc...

WE also eat the TOfu Pups and I was so excited to find them. My son loves them. I am going to try and get the sunrich burgers. We eat tofu stir fried vegetables, etc. We mainly eat mexican food though or pasta's. We eat alot of taco salads, taco's out of soft corn shells and crunchy. We use Pamela's pancake mix. Soups out of beans and vege's. Baked...
