ARCHIVED Breadmaker Machine Question
key replied to momandgirls's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Mammabear, Breads by Anna are great and easy in the bread machine. I do put my yeast in warm water first. This just works better and the bread is lighter, etc. I don't believe this is the way it says to do it. Gluten free Pantry mix is great too. I have never made bread from scratch in my bread machine. THe mixes work great for me and don't take up as... -
I eat beans all the time and yes, I do have problems with them. i have worse problems with them when I eat them with soda! Anyway, I live on Mexican food and I am not giving them up! Yesterday I had them and was MISERABLE lastnight. Today I had them and i am fine. So sometimes it is worse for me then others. Sometimes I wonder if it is the brand! Monica

ARCHIVED I Am So Confused :(
key replied to Laura--G's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had borderline blood tests and I had been gluten free for 2 months already, which affected the test. I didn't have the biopsy, because I was already feeling better gluten free. I did test myself and gluten made me very sick. SO I don't eat it at all anymore. My doctor did say that the number for mine that was showing celiac was the one that showed intestinal... -
Yup, I had it all the time. I had an underlying nausea for years. Kind of like being sea sick. Sometimes it was worse then other times, but now I get it when I have had gluten. You definitely have symptoms of celiac. I also had heartburn before I found out. I take dramamine when I feel nauseated and I think it works great. Monica

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease With Constipation?
key replied to gointribal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had constipation, but also days of D! Since going gluten free I never have D, unless I am gluttened. I had been gluten free for two months when I had my blood work and I had borderline positive results. THey wanted to do the biopsy, but I didn't want to start consuming gluten in order to be tested. I am no longer nauseated, stomach pains, no more bloating... -
GIJane, THat isn't that bad of weight. That is my cousin's height and she weighs anywhere from 115 to 125lbs. I am 5'2 inches and 100lbs and a ton of family and friends think I am too thin! I swear like someone said before that they are jealous. I am just about 90% sure this is the case with my mom and several others. I think it is abnormal to be thin...

ARCHIVED What Do You Personally Do To Gain Weight
key replied to Claire's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Tom, I have been gluten free for a year, but I tried eating oats for awhile and it made me sick, so I regressed. Also I have been gluttened several times the past few months. I am finally getting things completely under control. AT first going gluten free I felt great for four months. I am feeling better now, but I think I became even more sensitve to small... -
ARCHIVED New Here - 5 Year Old Suffered For 5 Years
key replied to andreamly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Glad you finally got a diagnoses. My son's blood tests were negative at 14 months also, but he had diarhea and also very fussy. Tests just aren't that accurate at a young age. We put him on the diet and he improved within three days. My son hasn't grown a ton, but has grown and is following his growth chart. I also found out I had celiac too, so be sure she... -
ARCHIVED A Wheat-free Bread That I Can Toast
key replied to Lynxear's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Welcome and this does get easier as time goes on. I too love eggs and love them with Kinnikinnick brand English muffins toasted. I cut them into thirds instead of just in half usually toast them twice, so they are done through. They ARE SO yummy. Even my mom tried them that doesn't have to eat Gluten free and loved them. Also, if you are looking for a descent... -

ARCHIVED What Do You Personally Do To Gain Weight
key replied to Claire's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't think my problem is as bad as some people think. My mom and dad are horrified when they see me everytime and my grandmother had a fit at Christmas. I where a 0 petite and they fall off of me. I really don't know why. I am 5'2 inches and 100lbs. I am 31 years old. I think the problem for me though is that I always had a fuller rounder face when younger... -
THis previously was my favorite restaurant. I don't eat any meat though, so this would be out, but I have wondered too about their dressing? Maybe someone knows. There website doesn't mention anything that I could find previously. Would like to know. Monica

ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Linda, I looked at the page you sent. It makes me a bit sad when I see cases that are severe. I knew a lady growing up that had it and I didn't know she had it actually until after my son was diagnosed. IT varies with how severe it is for people. It is the most one of the most underdiagnosed disease out there, because some people just have a few of the... -
Honestly, if a woman is desperate enough to have a child and has history of miscarriages, I think they would be thankful for the news. Not sure about the test along with Lupus, but I would guess it wouldn't be. THere is information about in Italy where women are automatically tested for celiac when they are concieving or have conceived. Maybe you could share...

ARCHIVED How Can You Tell The Difference?
key replied to MallysMama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, this is my experience. I get D or loose BM's for a day and painful stomach, heartburn and sometimes nausea. I then will have C for a week or more from being gluttened. That is the worst part. If you get gluttened and then you have C for a week or two afterwards. If it was over in 24 hours that would be great. For me the brain fog consists of hearing... -
ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, My son has cafe au lait spots. That is all he has right now. He is small though and he did have some UBO's they call them on a brain MRI. UBO's stands for Unidentified bright spots. ANyway, we just have to watch him. So far he is healthy. I was devastated when I found out to say the least. It is a crazy disease and can have all sorts of different things... -

ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know of another mom with a son with celiac that has been gluten free for 2 years and he is four and only the size of about a 2 year old. I see all the positives here of kids growing by leaps and bounds, but my 2 year old is the size of a one year old. He is very small. No where near as tall as kids his age, but he has improved as far as irritabilty, no... -
ARCHIVED Question About Getting Glutened
key replied to Nashville's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are correct that if we continue to get gluttened with things such as Amy's meals, that we won't always be healed, but I don't think that it will set you back completely to where you were before. I had some of her vegan chili lastnight and got gluttened from it. I know because I had stomach cramping, bloating and gas and my legs ached this morning. I had... -
I will add one more thing to this. I didn't know that you weren't suppose to store onions near potatoes. IT makes them rot way sooner. I keep my potatoes in something that can breath and in the garage during the winter. Basements are great places for them too. Monica

ARCHIVED Celiac Or Not Celiac?
key replied to Smitten's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If your villi are blunted, it sounds like you may definitely have celiac. Especially with the family history. Go to a dermatologist and have a biopsy of the rash on your legs. If you have it you should definitely stay gluten free. I am sure you would be happy to not have the rash and thyroid problems are very common with celiac. THat is interesting that... -
LIsa, Have they checked you for Crohns disease or anything else other then celiac. I'm not doubting that you have celiac in anyway of course, but you sound miserable still. How long have you been dealing with this. People with some inflammatory bowel disease sometimes need Prednisone, etc. I really don't know what you are dealing with or your history, but...

Cassie, Welcome here! THanks for your story and idea about the thyroid. I have just about every symptom of a thyroid problem, dry hair, cold intolerance, depression(on and off), but don't fit the picture because I am underweight not overweight. I have had it checked at least 3 times just this year by different doctors, but it is fine. I really think my problem...

ARCHIVED Amy, I Thought You Were My Friend!
key replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
THis actually makes me very angry! If they aren't gluten free, then by all means don't put Gluten free right on the can or package in BOLD letters!!! It is negligent! I am trying SO hard to be healthy and I am tired of getting sick. If I get gluten I have D for a day and then C for two weeks and cramping etc. It is Miserable! It affects my whole life. This... -
ARCHIVED Amy, I Thought You Were My Friend!
key replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Now you are freaking me out. I just bought and ate her Vegan chilli today and I swear if I get sick, I am going to scream!! I specifically bought it, because I just don't know who I can trust anymore. I have felt sick from her enchilada's before and just haven't eaten them, because I was pretty sure they made me sick, but every product. Someone posted here...
