ARCHIVED I'm A Celiac For Attention
key replied to IntensePort's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have been doing this a year and I believe it does get better. THe fact that they have gluten free menu's at PF CHang's and Outback steakhouse tell you there are ALOT of people with this disease. I think as our family and friends become aware of this and start seeing gluten free on everything they become a bit more supportive. THis seems to have been the... -
Yvonne, I have been gluten free for almost a year also in May. I too am frustrated. I know longer have chronic vaginal yeast infections, bone pain (unless gluttened), anemia gone, lowgrade underlying nausea, not losing weight, etc. When I eat gluten I get diarrhea with undigested food, stomach hurts bad, depression, bone pain, etc. I also had borderline...

I use the hard shell corn taco's too, but not the seasoning. I don't know about that part. Monica -

ARCHIVED Perky O's
key replied to KaitiUSA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't tried these, but thanks for sharing that you like them. I will try and find them. SO far we did try the Glutino "cheerios" and they weren't very good at all. My son would probably love these. THanks alot. Monica -
ARCHIVED Sweet Tea?
key replied to key's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The tea I am drinking would be from a restaurant and they make it in huge batches. It is the best sweet tea around. I don't really understand why it is bothering me. Just makes my stomach feel aweful later in the day. It didn't used to do that and I am not even sure if it is the tea. Someone mentioned before carmel color and maybe that is it. I am also wondering... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Veggie "burgers"?
key replied to Maureen73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maureen, It actually tells where they carry them online. I will be living in MD in a few months and they will have them there at Whole FOods it says, but I am going to order some online first. I know what you are saying about starving to death without this website. I have learned so much here and found some great foods, because of this place. Monica -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Veggie "burgers"?
key replied to Maureen73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Michael, Thank you so much for the website. THey look really good. What is your favorite one?? I think I can get our Earth Fare here in Tennessee to order them and stock them. I am very excited about this!! You just made my day! Monica -
Does anyone know if sweet Tea out would have gluten? Has anyone checked on different brands. I never thought about it before, but all the sudden realized I feel sick everytime I drink it. THis may not be what is making me sick and probably isn't, but thought I would ask anyway. I am eating a baked potatoe out when I eat at this place and everything else is...

I too would like to have another child, but don't want to deal with all this gluten and problems with my digestion lately. I will be great for like two weeks and then all the sudden the big C comes back. It is more of a motility problem for me. It is strange that I can tolerate the Mt. Dew, but not coffee, tea or diet pepsi, which is what I used to eat. I...

ARCHIVED How Bad Is Wheat In Shampoo?
key replied to ErraticBinxie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The pantene I bought had Oats in it. I was specifically trying to give up the wheat one's. Monica -
What are you saying about the calcium? THat there is a lack of it or too much. Lack of it makes sense to me. THat is the other thing I started taking. I did start taking something called Bone Up by Jarrow Formula's. It seems to have helped my C and my heartburn somewhat. I didn't relate it to the heartburn though. I am up and down with stuff lately though...

I too was taking Prilosec for about a month recently, but have been off for 2 weeks now without a problem. Ihad never had heartburn really until a month ago. I think it was from getting gluten somewhere. I would try and change your diet too. No caffeine, coffee, tea, spicey foods, etc. Especially coffee and tea. I have quit drinking these things and it has...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Veggie "burgers"?
key replied to Maureen73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not been able to find the Franklin burgers. I have looked. I too have been looking for a good vegeburger. I wish someone would start making a lunch "meat" that was gluten free. THe litelife line makes a good hotdog called a TofuPup. My son with celiac eats them all the time. Most of there stuff has gluten in it. THey list ingredients on the package... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Veggie "burgers"?
key replied to Maureen73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maureen, I am having the VERY same problem. I don't even know how to cook without my vegetarian substitutes. All of which were made from gluten. I too lived on the stuff you lived on. I can't stand eating a vegetable meal without something else to fill me up. I have never eaten meat and won't start now, but it is tough sometimes. I go in phases where I... -
ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
TCA, I agree that attitude and accepting this and being positive goes a long way as to how kids view themselves. I am always SO inspired by watching the DIscovery health channel. Two of my kids have things. The first one has a scar on his head from ear to ear. You can't see hardly any of it, but on one side a bit. No one has ever asked us about it and I... -
ARCHIVED Advise Please? Warning - Long!
key replied to qwertyui's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I really don't know how to make them understand. You could try and find some accurate information about cross contamination to show them. My grandmother in law doesn't get it, but I just take my own food. I don't trust her. Until she acts genuinely concerned, then it isn't worth the risk for my son and I. SHe makes rude comments about how her food isn't good... -
ARCHIVED Joint Pain
key replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had horrible joint pain too and mine went away once gluten free. It was pretty quick, but when I get gluten the pain returns. My doctor explained it as an inflammatory response. Not sure if he knows everything, but it does make sense. Monica -
ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am sorry you were sick for so long. It really isn't fair. I have had my son tested at the endocrinologist, but it has been a little over a year or more, so I am thinking of having him evaluated again. It is tough. Yeah, I know what you are saying about it bothering you. My oldest son that doesn't have celiac (his blood tests were all negative) is also small... -
Smacky, I am sorry. My kids have just had a diarhea bug that wasn't fun and they had no appetite the week each of them was sick. They had a different bug called Rotavirus, but my husband and I didn't get it. Maybe you won't get it. THink positively!! You could maybe try and get your doctor to prescribe some Phenergen, which usually stops vomiting. Just tell...

ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
key replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
ravenwoodglass, I am sorry your son never got diagnosed. THat is very hard. My son will likely remain short and small. He has been on the diet very strictly for almost a year. He has only gained 6lbs and only grown 2 inches. He is just very tiny. HE is not on the growth chart at all for height or weight. He acts completely normal for his age. I know he is... -
ARCHIVED Scared And Need Support Please
key replied to ebrbetty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Betty, I know how you feel. I too had borderline test results after being gluten free for two months when I had the blood drawn. I felt great for the first 4 months and then I think I felt so good that I tried oats. Those set me back big time. Then I was accidentally gluttening myself. So I was mad! I felt like crud anyway and thought, well maybe it was... -
ARCHIVED What Brand Of Flour Do You Use
key replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Bob's Red Mill is also on my DO NOT EAT list. I have been sick from several things from there. I just avoid it now. I like Pamela's mix for some stuff. RIght now I am just using the Gluten Free Pantry mixes for now. They seem to have many good things. Monica -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone's Celiac Been Constantly Sick?
key replied to Nic's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My celiac son had more ear infections and finally tubes in his ears, but since he hasn't been any sicker then the other kids. Actually I think this is a very bad year for illness. Someone has been sick in my house for almost two months now. I have had it!!! I am hoping we have had everything by now. I have three kids and stay home with them all the time....
