ARCHIVED Has Anyone Tried A Colon Cleanse Product ?
key replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree, I think they are trying to make money. They are expensive and the ingredients are the same as many things you can get in the healthfood store for way cheaper. Senna is not good to take on a regular basis, which is the stimulant part of the cleanses. They all made me miserable. I fell for it twice! No more. Fiber doesn't work for me. It just irritates... -
Gabrielle, I had a panic attack when I was in college. My parents rushed me to the ER, because I thought I was dying. It was strange. I had had an MMR two weeks before and thought maybe it had something to do with it, because for three months after that I felt dizzy and nauseated. I also wonder now if it was the undiagnosed celiac disease. Also I was dieting...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed At 13 - No Symptoms Except Short Stature
key replied to Forrest'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son with celiac is about 32 inches and weighs about 24 lbs. He has been diagnosed for a year now, but remains pretty little. He has grown and moved up on his chart a bit, but still very small compared to other kids his age of 2yrs. My one son that hasn't been tested for celiac that is 4 years old was in the 95% for weight and the 75th% for height, but... -

Lauren, We are excited about the house we are renting. It is bigger then our house now and fairly new. We are only living there for a year for my husband to do fellowship at University of Maryland. He will probably really dislike his commute, but I know alot of other people do it. It is only a year. I like going to the city, but not living in it. Thanks... -

If you are looking for chewyness for breads, etc. You may want to try Breads by Anna. It is called "glutenevolution.com" I believe. YOu can google this if you want. I have found that the best one is the regular one. When I tried the one that didnt' have dairy in it, I couldn't get it to turn out in my bread machine. THe other one has the best texture for... -
ARCHIVED Nursing Baby With Celiac?
key replied to mom in Iowa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son had celiac and was a very fussy baby. Always had loose stools. It just got much worse once we introduced solids with gluten in them. I feel he was reacting to gluten in my breastmilk. If so, you would need to eliminate soy sauce. There are gluten free soy sauce's. It is too early to have him tested accurately probably. My son was diagnosed at 14 months... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Tried A Colon Cleanse Product ?
key replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Marcia, I have tried a couple of them, but only for a couple of days. They gave me loose stools and major gas problems. I couldn't tolerate them. Plus they have Senna in them and that is a laxative, so my fear is that it isn't good to get "hooked" on using them. Or overuse. I think that taking some ground flaxseeds in applesauce or eating some extra fiber... -
cmdt, I gave up soy for the past few weeks and have felt much better. I tried soy milk again last night and felt so sick. I know I didn't have gluten yesterday, but had a "gluten-like" reaction from the soymilk. I am avoiding now. This is hard since I am vegetarian. I drink a small amount of milk in my coffee and eat some sour cream. I don't seem to have...

I grew up in New Market, VA. I am moving from Tennessee to Frederick, MD and I am looking for support and stores in that area. It is definitely harder when you aren't in a very large city. Monica

We will be in Columbia some and I have been to a Whole FOods in Silver Spring when visiting my inlaws. I still like my Earthfare here in Tennessee better. Mainly because they have Kinnikinnick products, which I didn't find at Whole Foods. Maybe I just missed it. Yeah, it is a small world. Monica -

Cindy, I am somewhat familiar with MD. I was born there and my dad was born and raised in Westminster. All his siblings and mom live on the same road in Westminster still. My parents live in Martinsburg, WV and my husbands family lives in Columbia, MD. I haven't spent alot of time in Frederick. Mainly just traveled through, so I don't know much about it... -
We are moving in two weeks to Frederick, MD. I need to know if there are any healthfood stores in the area that have gluten free products. I am spoiled here and have EarthFare, which has all the Kinnikinnick products, etc. Also, I have kids and I am wondering what there is to do there. Great parks, lakes, camping, etc. Restaurants that have gluten free...

I have been taking ORange Peal Extract for heartburn. You take it for 21 days every other day and then when you have symptoms. I think it has helped me. It is supposed to cure heartburn and not just treat it. THere is apparently only one brand, because they have a patent on it. It is expensive. IT is worth it to me though. It is a natural product. Also I...

I deal with the same thing. I was diagnosed with celiac a year ago and felt great for a few months pretty much and then still have IBS symptoms when I feel I am gluten free 100%. So I too started on an antidepressant. I just started on Lexapro at 10mgs. I felt 100% better even the first week. I also changed a few things at the same time. ONe being my shampoos...

I honestly don't know why some people refuse to recieve help when it is offered to them, but they do. I don't think I am that way. I wanted to be well so bad I would have done almost anything to figure it out. If you have showed her that she could have these disease and she still isn't interested, then I guess that is all you can do. Monica -

IF you haven't tried soy formula, I have an option. My son used a formula from 1-2 years old. It is called Baby's Only Organic Soy formula. It is very high in fat. It has 9 grams of fat for 8 ounces. My son thrived on it and I felt so good about giving it to him once I quit breastfeeding. It has coconut oil in it, sunflower oil and soy protien and it is gluten... -

Thanks CarlaB, That is how I am with homeschooling. I love the idea and I love it alot of the time, but being with my kids all day sometimes makes me feel like I have no mission in life. I get up, make breakfast, cook, clean, teach, etc. I love how it has been for our family. I don't want it to sound as if I am depressed all the time. It really is something... -

I went to my regular practioner today and she thinks that I should go through with both of these tests to rule anything else out. She said to have them done without eating wheat, because I am still having problems. Heartburn and mainly IBS+C symptoms. I feel like I have something wrong with my stomach all the time. It is SO frustrating. I have been really... -

Yeah, the haberman feeders have a long nipple. It is good you are getting her to eat some from a bottle. When did you start the feedings at night? I have heard of kids not being very interested in eating meals during the day when they are fed at night, but this is probably not the case with her. It is a catch 22! That is awesome she has gained some weight... -

That is good she drinks from a bottle. I was under the impression that she was on tube feedings. It is so hard to know why kids have issues with feedings and eating sometimes. I have seen other kids have problems. I have a friend in town here and her 11 year old lives on ENsure. He hardly eats anything else. HE has all these food aversions, etc. He is very... -

ChelsE, It is possible to that the gluten free diet helps people with IBS, so it helps alot of people even if they don't have celiac. It sounds like you are having some symptoms from eating wheat for sure. My blood tests were borderline for celiac and my son has it, but it is hard for me too. WHen I am not feeling better at times, I think it isn't celiac... -

TCA, I am so sorry that you are going throug this with your little one. I didn't mean to sound as if I have the answers, because I don't. I am just grasping at straws! It sounds extremely frustrating. It is awesome that she is doing good on your breastmilk though. You have really done great by pumping all this time for her. Have you ever had a pastor come...
