  1. My kids like Environkids cereal. They are 7 and 4 years old. They are my kids that can have gluten, but they like them. I will have to try these on my two year old. Monica
  2. It will be harder for you to maintain the diet and take it seriously if you don't have a positive diagnoses. Well, some people can do it. You have to be eating gluten though to be tested. Also if a doctor is well aware of the latest research on celiac disease, he should test you just because you have a blood relative with celiac disease. Do you have any...
  3. I think everyone has made good suggestions. I think that you should first make sure he isn't getting hidden gluten somewhere. Check his toothpaste, soaps, etc. Also under "natural Flavors" on packages they can hide gluten. You really have to call every company to make sure that there isn't gluten, unless it clearly states it on the back. Sometimes there is...
  4. My mom tried to give me soy as a baby and I couldn't tolerate it. Now I am 31 and have tried eating it most of my life. It does the same thing to me. I would definitely avoid it for him. Monica
  5. Very interesting article. Mostly it makes ME think I need to quit sanitizing my kids hands all the time. I have heard we are too sanitary when it comes to our kids. I suppose if I were sick all the time it may be an option. Monica
  6. I just read online that large amounts of white foods such as rice could cause this. Maybe it is the VAnce's milk. Just an idea. Of course it could be gluten, but since this isn't a normal reaction then I would doubt that. You could try and cut back on the milk for a few days to see if it resolves. Monica
  7. I haven't read all the posts here, but thought I would share my experience. I have three boys ages 2,4 and 7 years old. My first pregnancy I was working night shift as a nurse and was always exhausted. I remember also having major bloating during my nightshift. I could hardly breathe towards the morning. Never knew about celiac. Anyway, my oldest son had...
  8. It definitely sounds like you could have celiac disease. I would stay on the diet for awhile if I were you. Like someone else said though, it can be harder without a firm diagnoses, but not impossible. If it makes you sick when you eat it after being gluten free then you won't want to repeat that scenerio all the time. I had borderline blood results and it...
  9. I read somewhere that Orange Peel extract cures heartburn. I had had this horrible episode when taking Prilosec. AFter taking it for a week at a time it would feel like I wasn't able to digest my food and my stomach would just hurt. So I quit taking it and took Orange peel extract. I only took it about 8 days and it was gone. I am not 100% sure that this...
  10. Nature's Path fruit sweetened cornflakes. I like these the best out of everything I have tried. Haven't tried the Perky'Os, because I haven't seen them. Monica
  11. My son also had negative blood work when he was a year old, but at fourteen months we just took him off gluten. WE all saw the difference in him. Night and day! I think that if her intestines looked better now, then you know that gluten isn't good for her. I wouldn't do it if it were me. I don't really know what he is trying to accomplish, but the damage...
  12. We love Pamela's pancakes and they are great to freeze after you make them and pop in the microwave. We put Peanut butter and either applesauce or syrup on them. They are very filling. Also I make Kinnikinnick english muffins toasted with two soft boiled eggs. Adding fruit with either of these. Your teacher is crazy!! Monica

    ARCHIVED Heartburn

That is awesome! So happy it is working for you. Heartburn is miserable! Monica
  14. THanks Lauren, We like Columbia, but we are used to having a yard for our kids. It came down to last minute and we couldn't find a place there, so we are going to Frederick. I hope I like it. I am sure it will be good. We have family close by, so hopefully I will survive. It is for a year. That part is hard, but hopefully it will be a fun year. Sounds...
  15. Accidental gluttening can cause constipation for me. Also if he was able to go when you said he would have to go to the ER, he may just be afraid to go. My boys are 7 and 4(don't have celiac), but they sometimes hold it all day until evening. I tell them to go if I think they need to, because they are just lazy. Your son may be afraid to go if he associates...
  16. Thanks for sharing the link. Monica

    ARCHIVED Heartburn

Papaya extract is supposed to be an all natural product to use when pregnant for heartburn. I am pretty sure that is it. I haven't tried it though. Find out about the digestive enzymes. They may be ok during pregnancy. Check of course, but everything carries a warning during pregnancy. Just to cover their butts. Monica
  18. My son's blood work was also negative for celiac. THey say in young children this can happen. He definitely had a problem with gluten. He had diarhea (undigested food), crabby, malnourished, etc. We removed gluten and he is a different child. He was around a year when we were testing him. I had tests after being gluten free for two months. My ttg was like...
  19. I have heard Frederick traffic is bad. My dad travels through there everyday, but he goes on off hours. I would love to join a good support group. HOw far away is Gettysburg? I know of it, but not where it is. WHere are you in school at? Are you married yet? Thanks for your help. I have to find Kinnikinnick products somewhere. I am sure I will. My mom...
  20. This is one of my first symptoms of being gluttened. It when away when I went gluten free and now comes back when I am gluttened. I also get heartburn when gluttened. Among other stomach issues. Monica
  21. If your daughter has it, then blood relatives should be tested. Some people have such mild GI symptoms or not at all, so you could have it. My son had it and I found out after him I have it too. So I would definitely rule it out. Monica
  22. I am glad your son is feeling better. My son was miserable on gluten. He slept all the time, fussed when awake and cried alot, bloated belly, diarhea-pale with undigested foods, etc. Even his pediatrician and the peds GI could tell he was better after removing gluten. We didn't need the biopsy to confirm he had celiac. We retested him after a week being gluten...
  23. Is he accidentally being gluttened at school? I know it is so hard. Do you eat out at all? I find I can't eat out. I have not had good success other then PF Chang's and eating a baked potatoe. Like someone said supplements may help. Just ideas. I am sure you are doing a good job keeping him gluten free, but just my only idea. It is frustrating. When I...
  24. My house isn't gluten free. My 2 year old son and I have celiac. My two other son's and husband eat the regular gluten food. If I cook suppers, etc., it is gluten free. I do make my other two kids pb&j with regular bread, regular pizza's, cereal and oatmeal. It is challenging for me to wash my hands alot. I don't enjoy this, but I have had a hard time...
  25. It could be Rotavirus, which can have lingering diarhea in children. Just google Rotavirus and see if this sounds like him. Monica
